I took this shot in 2019 and it proved to be a tough bird to photograph due to the very wet wheather and overcast day, I was still very happy to see this very cool rare visitor to Texas.
Built and opened in 1950 at 1046 Uvalde Road. Don't know when Roy's went out of business. Today it is Taqueria Y Refresqueria which sells cold drinks, hamburgers, Funnel Cake and Fried Oreos. This is a great example of 1940s-1950s era independent burger joint architecture in Houston. It's quite possible the concrete tables and benches are original fixtures.
I am going through some tough times right now but when I saw the news about this it broke my heart. I don't understand why they can't get gun control in order. They control everything else! Just think about the grief those parents are going through.
A Staten Island artist created a life-size installation in tribute to the 21 victims of the Robb Elementary school mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Scott LoBaido created "21 Cardinals," a display of 21 white desks and chairs with cardinals, small red birds, in the Mount Loretto area of Staten Island. The chairs had the names of those who died in the attack.
“For those who do not know, when u see a red cardinal after someone has died, the cardinal is bringing a loving message from the departed,” LoBaido wrote on his Facebook post.
An 18-year-old gunman entered Robb Elementary School on May 24 and killed 19 students and two teachers.
“It’s a very simple thing I’ve done here, very very simple but gets to the point,” LoBaido said in a video he uploaded on Facebook.
