I usually keep to season and generally post winter pics on winter and summer pics on summer. but all the pics i've taken lately are so dark, so bad, i only had a few that i could share, all the rest i posted on January are from the winter 2010 or earlier. this one is an archive picture from last summer. it is hard to believe it can be so green outside and light can be so warm and yellow when all i can see now is snow snow snow and light is blue grey...

i have some more pics from this serie on my blog if you'll get a chance to visit.

I usually take one mirror selfie per roll just so I remember which film camera I've used :) My memory these days needs reminding especially as I have several film cameras. This one was taken in 2019. It's also a bit unusual for me as I'm primarily left eye dominant and used my right eye to view this time.

This (usually) dry creek-bed is home to an outcrop of deciduous and 'Christmas' ferns. But, in spring, it is transmogrified into a fern fandango.

I usually don't post two photos in one day, but I remembered this one I took back in August, and since it is Wednesday I decided to put it on. HWW. Actually this rural scene has about everything-a windmill, nice old silo, a machine shed, and if you look close, an old tractor and a not too bad sky. Now if there were just a few hay bales....

I usually bin the totally out of focus shots, this one seemed to want to stay out of it! Another from the TMA Studio lighting workshop (not taken with a flash, just clicking away while it someone elses turn!)

My first Dark Souls Poetry post!

Usually these California Quails are quite skittish but this one gave me time to get several shots off of him. I've actually had one in my tray feeder a couple times lately, including this morning again.

I usually roll my eyes at long-exposure pictures of waterfalls, but seeing as I was there with a tripod and with these magnificent falls in front of me, I thought I'd give it a go. The falls drop about 60m/200ft - some people are visible in the cave behind, which give it some scale. Of course, I did go behind - camera got VERY wet - first comment shows the view looking out.

White-Tailed Kites at Alston Park, Napa, Ca. I usually see at least one kite when I'm there.

January, 2020.

Usually, of course, the elusive stump fish which live in the submerged forests of Ceredigion only spawn on Cardigan Island in the dead of night when there is a Super Blue Blood Moon. So very lucky to spot these in on the main land in the day.

Lady Kingfisher

Though most males are prettier

Not the case for her

We usually have wonderful fall color in this area when the maples turn red, then as they fade the aspens turn yellow. This year there are a few places where we have reds, yellows, and greens all at the same time. This scene is in Logan Canyon, Utah where the wide open spaces give us a great view of the scene.

I usually prefer colorful sunsets/rises but sometimes a moody day can be just as interesting. Especially when the landscape is as barren and pre-historic as here.

Seen here is one of the most photographed hills in Scotland, Stac Pollaidh.

Usually a very secretive bird and the most snipe i have ever seen in one place,we counted 20 at one point.

Usually these are seen camouflaged with their own excrement over their back, so I wonder if this one is ready for its final moult into adulthood. To be honest, as I forgot to put my glasses on when I went out, I thought I was looking at the front end, but as you can see I had focused on the rear end!

When I usually show photos from the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, then they were taken on top of the rocks. With a view into the distance, across the beautiful wooded valleys.

Today we are in one of these valleys, in the Liebethaler Grund to be more precise. Here, near the town of Lohmen, a relaxed hiking trail leads through lush and dense forest always along the river Wesenitz.

The Liebethaler Grund marks the first stage on the famous Maler trail, one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world, across the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

The wild and romantic atmosphere of this place has been attracting countless visitors for many years. Among them are some celebrities, such as the composer Richard Wagner (who even wrote parts of the opera "Lohengrin" here) or the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen (The Little Mermaid).

Usually shy and curious, pine martens are also solitary and territorial. The pine marten ranges in forests and woodlands across Alaska, Canada and the northern United States.

Neither sex will allow another marten of the same sex in their home territory, though males will tolerate the presence of multiple females.

(I can live with that ;) LOL.)

Pine martens are agile climbers and spend much of their time in trees, where they prey on squirrels and chipmunks. Their diet also includes mice, hares, shrews, birds, bird eggs, amphibians, reptiles, insects, fish, crayfish, nuts, fruit and carrion.

Usually a quiet place and currently covered in daisies. I say 'usually' because we had a bit of vandalism. The cemetery has also reached the limit of its capacity and soon will become even quieter. Cemeteries can reach the end of their life too. 7Artisans manual lens at F8.

Usually there are lots of Whinchats in this nature sanctuary but they don't like people and are difficult to photograph.

Usually now I would dig up something from my archives to post so that i don't get people bored with photos from the same place that might look similar too. The good thing about Aruba is that even though it's pretty much a desert island with turquoise/aqua colored water at its beaches, so the scenery is not super diverse, it offers some photo opportunities that will add variety in your photos. The fact that it has some cool looking abandoned buildings worked out, at least for me. I found this abandoned beach bar when I was walking at the end of Baby beach (my previous photo) and trying to get to Rodger's beach. I was expecting to see cactuses, divi trees but not this. According to google, its name was "Lost Paradise" and I can assure you that it is in place that is like paradise and I am sure if it's haunted, it will be a true ghost keeper as ghosts would never want to leave from there.

We usually see the long pendant of briliant flowers of the Lobster Claw Heliconia. But what does one look like when you walk right up to it and shoot it at 7+ magnification?

It's soft, tissuey and transparent. Not hard and plastic as it appears to be from a distance. Isn't macro amazing?

Usually I don't woke up early. But the morning was a exception and i looked out my window and saw this great sky.

Great Horned Owl usually have two eggs per clutch and over three is uncommon, so seeing these four owlets was a rare sight. This productive nest was in a quiet area in southern Alberta, Canada — fittingly, since this species is the provincial bird.

The cork is usually pulled out of the bottle but it can also be pushed in when no corkscrew is available (but be careful not to spill the wine...). Of course I obeyed the cork's request and enjoyed the Pinot Grigio after the shooting 😉 HMM! and a happy new week ☀️

Usually three units lead and only one is at the rear.

There are usually over 30,000 Razorbills at Bempton Cliffs each year. The British population is around 110,000 pairs. As with many seabirds, they pair for life. Razorbills breed on the sheer cliffs using ledges or crevices and they lay just one egg. Both razorbill and guillemot chicks leave the nest before they can fly, and usually at night time. The adult male calls the chick of the cliffs then they flutter down to the sea. The adult and chick swim away from the cliffs, where there are fewer predators

2nd November 2020:

I usually only look at the International Days on the online calender and then as I'm uploading look at the other days for the Silly News.

When I checked this morning, there weren't any special things on for today. Oh no, it's too windy to get out and there's nothing in the garden to photo either.

I looked at the National days and found that it was Colour the world Orange Day. Dug into the Teddy B boxes and bags, found my orange crayon and had my photo of the day - nationaldaycalendar.com/color-the-world-orange-day-first-...

It's also not all that you think it is.

And now for the Silly News it's : National Deviled Egg Day - nationaldaycalendar.com/national-deviled-egg-day-november-2/

Usually I go to Peak District several times during August heather season but this year due to some health issues I only managed to go once in mid August. Luckily I'm all good now so headed there again, not really so much for photography, just wanted to hike. This was my last hike of the day, nothing special but lovely evening autumn light

Usually they make their presence known, and quite loudly too, but not often seen. This Brown Cicada was perched on a branch so I managed to photograph it. Taken in Spain.

Not usually 1 to photograph flowers but what an amazing looking flower just doesn't look real absolutely beautiful !!

I usually do not photograph these little cuties until winter just so I have something to shoot during the winter months. But this Red-breasted Nuthatch I could not resist.

Phalacrocorax carbo, the great cormorant, is a large dark waterbird from the family Phalacrocoracidae. It lives along coasts, in estuaries and on big inland lakes and rivers across Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Its plumage is only partly waterproof, so after diving it often sits with its wings spread to dry them and to regulate its body temperature. The great cormorant hunts mainly fish, which it chases under water with strong webbed feet and catches with its hooked bill. It usually breeds in dense colonies in trees, reed beds or on rocky islands, where pairs build bulky nests that they may use again in later years. In many regions numbers once fell because of hunting and habitat loss, but protection and cleaner waters have helped the species recover in several areas and this can sometimes cause conflicts with fisheries.

The African buffalo or Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is a large Sub-Saharan African bovine. Syncerus caffer caffer, the Cape buffalo, is the typical subspecies found in South and East Africa. The adult buffalo's horns are its characteristic feature: they have fused bases, forming a continuous bone shield across the top of the head referred to as a "boss".

Cape Buffalo are suspected to kill around 200 people every year. They typically will charge and gore their victims and have been known to trample people as well. When you see Cape Buffalo roaming in Africa, they're usually not alone and an injured cape buffalo is even more dangerous and unpredictable than a healthy one.

Usually, GLC is much better about having a locomotive on each end of their consists that faces forward so the crew doesn't have to run long hood forward. When they choose not to, you make time to shoot it. With a fairly big OSTN, 3 long hood forward units make the turn back on to home rails at CP Pitt south of Durand, MI. Lighting this was a bigger challenge than I anticipated it to be, but it was a fun challenge.

We usually do not photograph wildlife with man made objects but the painted bunting is too stunning to pass up. We take its pic where ever we find it. This bird was feeding on two different feeders and traveling with his mate. Photos showing these are given in the first three comments.

For those who might be worrying about this poor bird staring into a close blank wall while eating, don't be. The wall not shown is clear and he is looking at a smorgasbord of delightful food. 😀

Photo taken at the Merritt Island NWR in Florida.

Zantedeschia, usually erroneously called Calla or Arum lilies (only when white), they are not a true lily.

It is named after Italian botanist Francesco Zantedeschi.

The Zantedeschia species are very poisonous, capable of killing livestock and children.

All parts of the plant are toxic, and produce irritation and swelling of the mouth and throat, acute vomiting and diarrhea.

All species are endemic to southern Africa.

Thank you, M, (*_*)

He usually performs solo and appropriately uses just one name. He wore Raptor's T-shirt (Toronto basketball team), but he seem to have enough fans even without this gesture. From San Diego (1992), he studied jazz at UCLA (Kenny Burrell) and played and recorded mostly solo and lately with several hip-hop groups. Interesting Fact: Samsung released their Galaxy ringtone, 'Over the Horizon', which was produced by Kiefer.

Kiefer (his last name is Shackelford) and in Montreal actually played with CARRTOONS (also uses just one name) - Bass and Luke Sangerman – Drums. It seemed that they really had fun playing together.

Airtight containers keep chocolates past the Summer.

Yes they taste fine.

Agonoscelis rutila

Family: Pentatomidae (stink bugs)

Order: Hemiptera

Although an Australian native insect, this bug usually feeds on the sap of introduced Horehound plants, or others in the mint family (Lamiaceae) sometimes causing wilting. Although they prefer Lamiaceae, they are known to aggregate on a variety of other plants. In this case I think it is a different plant family; Billy Goat Weed, Ageratum sp. in the family Asteraceae. They also feed on various seeds including the Horehound.

The species is quite communal and aggregates with others of the species on the target plants. It has the capability to control the spread of the Horehound plant, which is considered to be a weed. However the Bug is the target of parasitoid wasps including the introduced egg parasitoid, Trissolcus basalis. Ironically this wasp was introduced to Australia to control another bug, the Green Vegetable Bug but has turned to preying on the native Horehound bug (and 25 other native bugs as well). So it seems that an introduced wasp is preventing a native bug from controlling an introduced weed!

Usually over two kilometres in length and often driver-less.

This one wasn't moving at the time of this shot, but it was most certainly awake as it made lots of grunting and snorting noises at me while I tried to capture its portrait as it prepared to lurch forward. No human occupant was in sight.

White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus Virginianus). Veronica is a little doe that comes around everyday. She’s missing part of her ear but she’s in good condition. Don’t usually name wild animals but I felt that since something bit her ear off she deserved one.

С утра был дождь, а после полудня выглянуло солнце. Обычно я не снимаю цветы, но в этот раз не удержался.

The morning was raining, and the sun came out in the afternoon. Usually I don't shoot flowers, but this time I felt I have to.

Usually I go for a walk in order to take some images, but this time I went out to "listen to the silence". It was one of few things I decided to do for myself and I am very glad I did! I really managed to rest and admire the silence of this place and at the same time I returned with lots of images to show!

Just set the whole bucket of candy down and turn around and leave. You don’t want to know what the trick is. Wasn’t really planning to post anything for Halloween but this intimidating Jack-O-Gator should get the message across. Also want to explain that his path to the water is to the left and not straight. A few people think that they are there just to attack people, but most of the attacks occur at the water’s edge when the alligator is in the water and not out on the bank of the bayou. They usually don’t stick around and allow people to get this close to them. Photo taken on Armand Bayou.

I usually am a morning photographer and I'm seldom out late afternoon. On this particular day, I had driven all morning looking for photo ops and was unsuccessful in finding anything good--so I started to head for home. As a last ditch attempt to find wildlife, I made a last second detour and I'm sure glad I did. Off in the distance I could see a large group of bulls. They were not close. I had a long trek, while carrying my equipment, but the effort was worth it. It was highly abnormal to see a group of 10 bulls (others are out of frame). As a matter of fact, the most I've ever seen together is 5 or 6. So this was very special. To add to an already great photo OP, the late afternoon sun on the Tetons was gorgeous. This day ended up being one of my top five photography days EVER! And to think I would have missed it all, had I not taken a last minute detour. SERENDIPITY!

American Kestrels usually snatch their victims from the ground, though some catch quarry on the wing. They are gracefully buoyant in flight, and are small enough to get tossed around in the wind. When perched, kestrels often pump their tails as if they are trying to balance.

American Kestrels occupy habitats ranging from deserts and grasslands to alpine meadows. You’re most likely to see them perching on telephone wires along roadsides, in open country with short vegetation and few trees.

Usually see Waxwings eating fruit. But it seems they eat insects as well. This pair was perching on tree stumps around a pond and flying in to pick off insects from the water surface or in flight.

From AllAboutBirds.org: Cedar Waxwings feed mainly on fruits year-round. In summer Cedar Waxwings supplement their fruit diet with protein-rich insects including mayflies, dragonflies, and stoneflies, often caught on the wing.

Terra Nova Park, Richmond, BC

Usually the Sunday WHFF is a caboose hop to Reading to pick up cars from the NS interchange but on Easter Sunday they had a whopping 24 cars. Thought I'd give the pole another try after some disastrous attempts before.

Usually not a fan of posed portraits, candid shots always seem more real to me, but these kids were relentless so I had to oblige them - they are pretty cute after all!

Not usually my normal type of photography…. pure seascapes! But, its always good to practice something different because you may end up with something that you actually like!
