User interface experience

Expanding on Microchip’s existing 8-bit PIC® microcontroller-based mTouch development tools for capacitive touch, the PICDEM Touch Sense 2 Demo Board enables designers to implement this leading-edge user interface with Microchip’s wide portfolio of 16-bit PIC24F MCUs. Equipped with capacitive touch-sensing keys and sliders, the board allows designers to evaluate this interface in their applications using the Windows-based mTouch Diagnostic Tool, an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI) that is included in the mTouch Sensing Solution SDK. The software libraries, source code and other support materials that come with the board further shorten development time and reduce design costs.

From a comment I left on another flickr photo.

As for the usability of Linux... I find the user interface of them all (Windows, Mac, and Linux) very similar. They are all good. Each of them does all the things I require of an operating system.

I love the flexibility Linux provides as far as settings and applications. That, plus the fact that I'm not paying for software that is constructed in such a way that requires me to pay another company for software to secure it. /rant. ;)

---

I've been fortunate to have been using linux since the mid '90s, thanks to a good guy named skvidal, or "mr. yum".

User Interface Issues:

1. Date of Birth should be in Month / Day / Year format.

2. The CHECK BAGS button should say NEXT because on the next page you have the choice of not checking any bags. This choice seems to require you to check bags on the next screen. It leads you to wonder where the DON'T CHECK BAGS button is.

This was one of the stranger UIs I've ever seen. There is a rollbar with which to navigate through vertical menus.

Better by Design. Thoughtfully and through #PureDoing. One of many Design Sprints at Infozech, a leading and award-winning IT and software company focused on telecom. Mentoring and consulting the team on how to go really deep into design, design-think, user-interface, user-experience, user-centric design, usability, mind-mapping. We also continuously do design-trend analysis, mindmapping, and more. That is what I love about Design: it takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary.

The Design Revolution spreads to Mohali. The first ever Dive Into User-Interface Design and UX workshop in the Bhangra city of India. Powered by NASSCOM 10000Startups and hosted at StartUp In a Box. After I tackle ATM interfaces, parking machines are the next on my list of "ways to improve the user experience" - horrible experience (find one, and stand near it watching people try to figure them out).

Are airlines under so much threat that even user interfaces demonstrate their desperation?

United Airlines, which I enjoy flying, has a confusing screen system that could result in users purchasing additional products, unwittingly –or at least semi-consciously.

For those sleepy travlers that aren’t fully awake during a red-eye flight, they may be confused, as each check in screen has the “next” button in the bottom right .

It gets a bit tricky as United offers additional services, which a strong nod to the users previous behavior to click on the bottom right to accept, note: it’s also color coded.

Savvy travelers are already aware of this, yet if United truly wanted to respect the customer experience, they would make the offer a more neutral experience, rather than forcing the flyer to consciously ‘opt out”.

It’s subtle, but leaves me questioning my loyalty to United, what else should I be aware of and consciously opt-out of?

This one too

Choose skins to adjust the user interface

Buttons are essential in user interface as they provide a mean of navigation in websites and apps. This design is a nice little experiment with texture-rich buttons that can be used in websites. Though the degree of detail probably exceeds the ones used due to the size, I think the buttons themselves can have a lot of interesting elements alone.
