My relatives used to run a small post office … the stamps they collected provided a view into history, art & politics.

Using our car as a blind we were able to slowly approach this heron to get this frame filling shot.

I needed a change. I don't understand how you can just love bomb someone, promise your not leaving, tell them you love them and then just fucking throw them by the wayside. Fuck me I guess

Used for grinding corn and other grains. It's rare to find the mano with the metate together. I found these in an out of the way place near a river and left the mano just like I found it.

What do you see? For me it was a combination of a Barn Owl face, an Ewok and a singing dog. I wonder what my Psychiatrist would say about that? lol

I no longer use my light meter now that I've swapped to digital and shoot with strobes most of the time. It still hangs on my tripod though, and I've forgotten how to use it. But sometimes, if I need to think while shooting someone, I'll hold out the light meter and act as though I'm metering light. I twist a few dials and mutter to myself as I think. It looks very professional and impressive.

I'm mobile again, meet Rocinante, my new workhorse. I don't have Fridays off anymore so I'm going to have to find a new way to get in hikes and still not miss time with Darling Tonia, but somehow, some way my camera and I should be getting more time together soon. If you see this baby comin', get off the sidewalk!

when I was younger rather then looking at the 'rubber' I counted the visible threads to decide on replacement, wasn't smart but didn't have a choice....pretty sure I had more then one bolt holding on the tire though !!

No use of filters in this shot, just f/16 with 3 bracketed exposures, nothing i like better is to come down to this wonderful place as the tide was coming in, i know i have shot this loads of times but i'm just capturing an image with some nice movement, the light was also fading fast hence the under exposed shot at f/16 was about 4 seconds, giving that foreground just enough movement, i think the same shot taken with 1 normal exposure would not give you the same effect, it really is worth while practicing these type of seascape images, you never know what you might achieve

I am using my lensball for the first time here. I bought it two years ago but I never think to shooting with it. I thought of this idea with my backyard tree and gave it a shot. My maple tree still has lots of leaves left on it but that'll change soon. We woke up to some snow today! The seasons are changing and I am not a fan of the cold winter weather like I was as a kid...lol

Used normal oil painting effect at 50%. Cropped thin cross-section beginning at very top and ending just a wee bit into the bottom bright orange gourd. The "bookmark" term came courtesy of John Lunt.

The motif of the new garden is the Noh play "Hagoromo."

Noh is one of Japan’s traditional types of theater with more than 600 years of history.

In the story, a fisherman named Hakuryō finds a celestial robe (hagoromo) on the shore. He intends to keep it as a family heirloom, but the celestial maiden laments her inability to return to the celestial realm without her robe. Moved by her sorrow, Hakuryō sympathizes and agrees to return the robe in exchange for witnessing her celestial dance. Although the celestial maiden initially hesitates, fearing Hakuryō's doubt, she eventually returns to the heavens after performing her graceful dance, leaving behind blessings upon the land.

The garden's design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese paintings, aiming to represent two-dimensional elements in a three-dimensional space. It features representations of white clouds and waves, symbolizing the celestial realm and the waterside, respectively.

As I repeatedly reconstruct the garden to align with my vision, I sometimes doubt whether it truly conveys the warmth I intend. In moments of uncertainty, I find solace in the unwavering support and trust of AKI69, whose presence has been instrumental in the realization of this project. The beauty of the architecture, plants, and creatures within the garden constantly inspires and encourages me.

May this new garden become a testament to beauty, enriching your soul with its presence.

Looking forward to the enchanting presence of celestial beings in this garden where the worlds of the sea and sky intertwine without doubt.

If I wasn't using my very (un)inspired naming system, I'd call this one Laceberg.

The shape of this iceberg was amazing, but so were the deep blues shining from deep inside it and what I saw as lace in the delicate shapes on the top. A beauty.

Ring-pulls used to be on soft drinks cans - now just about every can of soup, baked beans or whatever have these handy little aids to opening up a can without needing a can-opener, and with no danger of cutting yourself on the metal. I merged two photos here to give a slight air of mystery to the mundane ;o)

I repurposed my old B&W enlarger to become a photo copy stand. It works brilliantly in its new job because it was originally built to be perfectly square between the base and the tower that used to hold the light, lens assembly and negative holder. All the parts to make a print from a negative have been removed in favor of the ability to mount my Canon R7 body easily to the rig and then I can "scan" other images and turn them into a digital file.

I've been doing this with my family pictures that don't exist anywhere else except in these images.

But what to do with all the left over parts?

This is what I did with the lens.
