Not sure why the building it was painted in my favorite color (lavender).

Woodward Elementary School

This is the school I went to Kindergarten at in 1998. I remember feeling disappointed about having to go to kindergarten, as we had just moved to Kalamazoo from Stockholm at the time and I knew my Swedish peers wouldn't have to go to kindergarten (kindergarten wasn't a thing in Sweden, children there didn't have to start school so young).

I remember accidentally breaking the lead pencil tip and the teacher got mad and complained about having to "walk down the hall" since our classroom didn't have a pencil sharpener. Later in 1st Grade, I remember doing the same thing and I feeling relieved that nobody got mad, the college student who was a teacher's aid told me that it's "not a problem, they vacuum the carpets at the end of the day".

The teacher (Ms. Chiccavera, not sure if the spelling is right) also used to give us stars at the end of the school day that either whole or ripped up by her depending on our supposed behavior, as I say "supposed behavior" because one day I got ripped star and I didn't even know what the heck I did - I was just a 6-year-old. I ended up hiding the ripped star from my mom because I thought she'd be mad if she knew I got a ripped star.

This was also home to a Parlin's Furniture at some point. Right now I can't find any info on this former Big Lots and whether or not it's closing has anything to do with the operations at the other current Battle Creek Big Lots on Beckley Road. Either way, having two Big Lots really doesn't like it would be feasible in a city like Battle Creek.

An abandoned dry water slide in Mamaia, Romania. Built quite some time ago (I've known it in this state for a quarter of a century) for a water park which never materialized, why it was never removed remais a mystery.
