Upper Antelope Canyon at noon, Page, AZ
I was lucky to go while it was still accessible.
The canyon was accessible only by guided tour, lead by Navajo (the land is owned by the Navajo). The tour required reservations, and it was full. The guides did a marvelous job of keeping the groups separated with only one group per gallery at a time.
The stories the guides tell of the land, the discovery of the place… are as interesting as the place itself.
Just before I took this shot, my battery died. The Canon 20D was still new to me then, and I wanted to see how many shots I could get from one battery. I still remember the look on the guys face next to me when I said to myself “uh oh, dead battery!” The look of relief on his face when I pulled out a fresh one was priceless.
I want to go back.

This is not one of the well know waterfalls in Hamilton, it's in Dundas and doesn't flow more than a trickle for much of the year. This was after a big early spring melt then rain, so it rarely flows even like this.
Sunset light shows well on the upper part of the Bryce Amphitheater and upper plateau in this photo from April, 2023, along the rim near Sunrise Pt.
The Lower Christine Falls (seen in comments) gets most of the attention. The Upper Falls is more challenging to shoot, plus one must stand on the busy Christine Falls bridge while capturing this 32' beauty.
For comparison, the Lower Falls shown below drops 37'.
Thanks for your visit! Always appreciated.
Even tho we are in a severe drought at the moment (no significant rainfall in a month), there was still a little water at the falls. We could hear the water before we could see it. Many steps down to the all but dry creek bed at the bottom of the mountain. Best thing was we were the only ones there. We were able to let the dogs off their leashes and they enjoyed cooling down in the pool of water at the base of the falls. We will come back after a thunderstorm. It was spectacular with just a trickle. I'm sure it's magnificent when it's full of running water.
Seathwaite, up yon valley to the right ... wettest inhabited place in England. Scafell Pikes seen in the distance too
After a cold and windy start on Carhead Rocks last week I went up to Upper Burbage to see if there were any photo opportunities. As I parked up the sun got up above the low cloud and lit up the landscape.. I think the rocky outcrop is Higger Tor but I could be wrong.

A lone hiker walks on a nature preserve trail ahead of us. The trail was once a farm road, but now serves hikers and mountain bikers instead. The light from the setting sun lights up clouds in the east. A small jet contrail is visible in the upper left of the frame.
Upper Creek Falls is the 299th waterfall I have visited. I left my home at 3am and arrived in Morganton, NC at 7:15am. The sky was blanketed in cloud cover and the conditions were right. I headed up Hwy 181 from downtown Morganton and arrived at the trailhead about 20 minutes later. After all is said and done, I have to express Upper Falls is my number 1 most favored waterfall.

An image of the Upper section of Aysgarth Falls sitiuated in the Yorkshire Dales. The Asygarth falls consist of a triple flight of waterfalls, surrounded by forest and farmland, carved out by the River Ure over an almost one-mile stretch.
This is the top part of the Yosemite Waterfalls. The next photo shows more of the upper and lower falls. This Upper Yosemite Fall alone plunges 1,430 feet (440m) and is among the twenty highest waterfalls in the world.

The gorges in the area I live in are many. This one is outside the Taughannock State Park. We've had a lot of snow then warm temperatures which have had a positive impact on the water flow in the gorges and waterfall. I just love this particular spot, it's so pretty!
For a change, a meeting with ‘Nina’ instead of ‘Lena’. Having already been able to take a few pictures of VTG Retrack's 159 222, christened Lena, in the past, I was granted a shot of 159 221 on the evening of 26 July 2024. The Euro Dual locomotive named Nina was hauling a tank wagon train southwards, presumably to Burghausen in the Upper Bavarian chemical triangle. The locomotive was in service for a long time in front of the so-called lye trains, but currently shares with its sister primarily the task of transporting fuels between northern and southern Germany.
