Betanzos dos cabaleiros (Betanzos de los caballeros ) Fue una de las siete capitales de provincia del antiguo Reino de Galicia y su casco antiguo, en el que destacan importantes monumentos góticos, está declarado Conjunto Histórico-Artístico.La leyenda atribuye la fundación al caudillo celta Breogán. Existen indicios de asentamientos primitivos en Betanzos, aunque se tendría que esperar hasta la época del Imperio romano para encontrar documentada la existencia de la ciudad en la Geografía de Ptolomeo, con el nombre de Flavium Brigantium, si bien hoy parte de la historiografía sitúa tal ciudad en La Coruña. Tras un largo período del que prácticamente se carece de información histórica, en 1219 la población se trasladó de su antigua ubicación (San Martiño de Tiobre, conocido como "Betanzos O Vello") a su localización actual, sobre el antiguo castro de Untia.En 1465 Enrique IV le concedió a la población el título de ciudad, y en 1467 le permitió la celebración de una feria franca anual. Años más tarde, en su reorganización territorial de España, los Reyes Católicos designan a Betanzos capital de provincia de una de las siete que formaba el Reino de Galicia, en lo que fue la época de mayor esplendor de la ciudad.

V/Line's N457 with 5 carriages in tow glides through Mathiesons near Wandong on 8610 UP Passenger Service from Albury to Melbourne.
The V/Line Albury service is soley served by N Class Locomotives at the moment, but very soon, 2 new standard gauge Vlocity untis will run 2 of the 6 daily services to and from Albury, the afternoon down (8615) and the evening up (8630). This means the service seen in this picture will remain an N class until stabling upgrades are made at Albury for new trains, and when more of them come.

L'Arena di Verona è un anfiteatro romano situato nel centro storico di Verona, icona della città veneta insieme alle figure di Romeo e Giulietta. Si tratta di uno dei grandi fabbricati che hanno caratterizzato l'architettura ludica romana ed è l'anfiteatro antico con il miglior grado di conservazione, grazie ai sistematici restauri realizzati fin dal '600. D'estate ospita il celebre festival lirico e vi fanno tappa molti cantanti e musicisti internazionali.
In epoca comunale e scaligera si tennero all'interno dell'Arena delle lotte giudiziarie: per risolvere processi incerti, gli interessati potevano valersi di lottatori professionisti, detti campioni. Il combattimento richiamava la cittadinanza a parteggiare per uno o l'altro campione, e i combattenti, nudi ed unti di olio, decidevano con la loro forza le sorti del processo. Perfino Dante partecipò come spettatore ad almeno una di queste lotte, descrivendola in un canto dell'Inferno:

As a PRR fan this still fascinates me. This loco was one of a group built by Alco-Schenectady in the summer of 1919 for the Pennsylvania RR who rejected them. Quite a few of them were re-assigned by the USRA to the Frisco. It served unti retiement in early 1952 and eventually donated to the city of Fort Smith for display. It now resides as an outdoor display at the Fort Smith Trolley Museum

This was the best morning ever, we are having a mini heat wave so it was like 60's at around 6:40 in the morning (: I was in love, unti it hit 100 and I was dying but yes, so I woke up and decided that I must take a picture this morning because it was beautiful. So I took my picture, finished getting ready and then sat outside to eat my yummy breakfast, and then I drove to school with my mom and aunt, my aunt and uncle came to visit yesterday (:

The story of The Duchess is a simple one at first.
The early 20th century saw the rise of the automobile. And with it came the thrill of racing.
Racing cars evolved in those early years. And with it came the concept of aero engined racers. Cars outfitted with engines suited for aircraft.
Martian technology had propelled Britain's progress in the power of flight. With more robust, state of the art engines being designed from reverse engineering.
The Duchess began life as a new type of engine built for airships. Designed by Paragon tech, it boasted increased speed and efficiency.
It wasn't unti Count Zborowski, an innovative young racer, took interest in the engine that the concept of it being used for an automobile was considered.
Paragon Tech's motoring division began to construct a sleek body designed on Zborowski's specifications to house the engine. Painted in British racing green and outfitted with the most luxuriant of features. The Duchess was born.
For a few years the count participated in many races around the world with the Duchess. Successfully winning them all.
However in 1924, disaster struck. An accident occurred and the Duchess was left damaged extensively. She was taken to Paragon Tech's warehouse to be rebuilt, with improvements recommended by the Count.
He never raced her again, as he died in a racing accident a month later.
The Duchess gathered dust, left untouched for nearly a year.
It wasn't until a friend of Paragon Tech's founder, a young paranormal investigator name Arthur. Stumbled upon the warehouse that the Duchess was rediscovered. Arthur had been assisting in a case involving a missing engineer, but felt drawn to the warehouse.
A lover of racing himself, Arthur recognised the vehicle and knew of it's history. The Duchess was gifted to him by Paragon's founder, a gesture of thanks for helping them.
Animism is the belief that an object, location or creature may possess a form of spirit. It is theorised that Arthur had actually sensed the potential spirit of The Duchess herself that day. Reaching out to him with the desire to be free and race once more. As the years went on, The bond between Arthur and The Duchess would grow stronger, the car herself seemingly developing a level of sentience and loyalty to Arthur and his family.

CORVE' CUCINA
Subito dopo Ferragosto,
trascorse 2 settimane che mi sembrarono 2 anni,
ancora non mi rendevo conto di cosa stava accadendo.
Talvolta pensavo:
" ma no è un incubo
Ora mi sveglio e tutto passa."
Quella mattina, sulla bacheca davanti alla porta della camerata, comparve il mio nome scritto in rosso.
Trs. Paradossi Stefano, giorno 17 agosto, martedì - CORVE' CUCINA.
Era il mio primo incarico e certo non potrò mai più dimenticarlo.
Bene.
Almeno non faccio marce asfissianti e non mangio polvere.
Non sapevo che andavo a finire proprio in bocca al diavolo.
Era proprio un girone Dantesco,
dove anime in pena erano costrette a pelar patate a quintali.
Non solo.
Quella mattina il maresciallo addetto alla mensa,
aveva avuto un'idea "estrosa".
Fare i peperoni ripieni, con tutto quello che era avanzato il giorno prima.
Vi risparmio l'elenco degli ingredienti che andarono a riempire gli ortaggi, è rivoltante.
Non mi soffermo troppo neppure sullo stato in cui versavano gli ambienti.
Sembrava non una cucina,
piuttosto una catena di montaggio per trattori di una fabbrica sperduta in qualche periferia desolata.
Un lavoro continuo ed incessante senza mai fine.
E' o no un girone Dantesco?
Il maresciallo date le direttive,
andava via con l'autista per reperire generi alimentari,
per il giorno seguente.
Qui ci sarebbe molto da disquisire sulle parole
"generi alimentari".
Forse trattavasi di qualsiasi cosa avesse la parvenza di ritenersi commestibile?
Per lo sbrigativo maresciallo era sufficiente che si potesse mandar giù alla meglio, senza star troppo ad indagare..
Non l'ho mai capito del tutto,
sta di fatto che mi trovai immerso tra i fumi nauseabondi che fuoriuscivano da pentoloni di un metro e mezzo di diametro.
I militari "assemblati" alla meglio,
erano istruiti da un capo cuoco.
Parola anche questa, data con disinvoltura,
più per necessità che per meriti acquisiti.
L'importante per il maresciallo,
alla sera portare a casa... distrattamente,
una bella cassetta di "avanzi".
Per carità niente di che tipo forme intonse di Parmigiano Reggiano,
prosciutto di Parma, piuttosto che tortellini Bolognesi.
Cibi che "transitavano" dalla cucina senza arrivare
MAI sulla nostra mensa.
Privilegi per pochi.
E poi si lamentava pure...
Era un tipo buffo e cicciottello.
Forse preso dal rimorso che per fortuna gli passava presto,
mi confessò mesto in volto.
"Eppure non mangio tanto.
Che sia un fatto di assorbimento della pelle"?
Voi che ne dite?...
A stare qui dentro, poteva accadere di tutto.
Perfino veder sparire da sotto gli occhi salami e dolciumi tipici Salernitani.
Ma pensiamo all'avventura culinaria in oggetto.
Nervosamente guardavo di continuo l'orologio.
Le lancette parevano inchiodate al quadrante.
il tempo si era inesorabilmente fermato.
L'impasto per il ripieno era pronto, al solo vederlo,
c'era da fuggire lontano.
Ed ecco il tocco di classe.
Non avendo un forno così grande per i circa 1200 peperoni,
fu deciso di lessarli in un pentolone di acqua salata con qualche verdura galleggiante qua e la.
Con le cassette dei peperoni,
fu raggiunta l'apoteosi dell'originalità.
Furono messi in gran parte nel pentolone di "tacco".
Avete capito bene.
Con lanci effettuati con i piedi,
spesso di tacco con gli anfibi belli unti.
A seguire relativo liberatorio urlo "GOAL."
Non partecipai, visto come si era messa la faccenda,
eppure penso che sarei stato il migliore.
Per non compromettermi,
chiesi di andare in sala a disporre le vettovaglie per il pranzo imminente.
Ovvio non mangiai nulla quel giorno.
Fu così anche per tutto il periodo che rimasi a Salerno.
Al mattino, colazione con caffellatte e tanto pane con marmellatine confezionate.
A pranzo panini con affettati, comprati la sera prima,
in qualche negozio d'alimentari,
ma spesso con solo pane e olio.
La sera, tassativamente a cena fuori.
A costo di andarci fallito.
Fu così che trovammo un bel ristorantino nella parte alta di Salerno dal nome tipico "al Giardiniello."
Quelli i momenti più belli dell'intera giornata.
Una baldoria contagiosa e liberatoria.
Dove l'amicizia assunse compattezze che hanno superato tutti questi anni.

The middle unti of a three unit consist leading an eastbound coal train out of Brunswick Yard is SD40-2 8428 painted and lettered in CSXT's Operation Redblock scheme. The 8428 was built for the C&O Railroad as an SD40 in May 1967 carrying number 7477. It has since been retired and likely scrapped.
FIORI DI ZUCCA IN PASTELLA
Ingredienti per 4 persone:20 fiori di zucca, 10 foglie di basilico, 1 mozzarella, sale, olio di semi di arachide, pezzetti di grana padano q.b., 5 filetti di acciughe sott’olio.
Per la pastella: farina 00 q.b., acqua minerale naturale ghiacciata q.b., sale.
Pulite i fiori di zucca eliminando delicatamente il pistillo centrale: mi raccomando dovrete lasciare intatto il fiore!. Lavateli sotto il getto di acqua corrente e lasciateli asciugare su un panno. Nel frattempo preparate il ripieno: tagliate la mozzarella a cubetti, e sgocciolate le alici, tagliate anche il grana in piccoli pezzi; infine sciacquate ed asciugate le foglie di basilico. Quando i fiori di zucca saranno asciutti, procedete con la farcitura. Dovrete farcirne solo 10, mentre gli altri lasciateli senza farcia. Per ogni fiore inserite qualche pezzetto di mozzarella, mezza alice, una foglia di basilico e qualche pezzetto di grana. Chiudete i petali e arrotolateli leggermente su loro stessi. Mettete da parte. Poi preparate la pastella: mettete qualche cucchiaio di farina in una ciotola e versate lentamente dell’acqua fredda: dovrete ottenere una pastella liscia, quindi senza grumi e non eccessivamente densa. Immergete sia i fiori di zucca ripieni che quelli non farciti, uno per volta, nella pastella e poi friggeteli in olio bollente (170°-175°) fino a doratura. I fiori dovranno risultare croccanti e non unti.
FRIED STUFFED ZUCCHINI BLOSSOMS
Makes: 4 serving
Total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients: 20 courgette flowers, 10 leaves of basil, 1 mozzarella cheese, salt, peanut oil, some pieces of grana padano cheese, 5 anchovy fillets in oil.
For the batter: a cup of 00 flour to taste,1/2 cup of mineral water ice to taste, a pinch of salt. You have to obtain a smooth and not too thick batter.
Preparation:
Clean the pumpkin flowers gently removing the central pistil. You have to leave intact the flower! Wash them under fresh water and let them dry on a cloth. Meanwhile, prepare the filling: Cut the mozzarella into cubes, drained anchovies fillets, also cut the grana padano cheese into small pieces; finally, rinse and dry the basil leaves. When the pumpink flowers will be dry,you will prepare the stuffing. You have to fill 10 flowers, while can leave other flowers without filling. Fill every flower with some pieces of mozzarella, half anchovy, a basil leaf and some pieces of grana padano cheese. Close petals and roll slightly on themselves. Set aside. Then prepare the batter: put a few tablespoons of flour into a bowl , slowly pour cold water and add the salt: you'll have to get a smooth batter,there must be no lumps and it must not be too thick. . Dip all zucchini flowers (stuffed and empty), one at a time, into the batter and then fry them in hot oil (170 °C -175 °C) until they will be golden brown. Drain them on paper towels, then salt. The flowers must be crunchy and not greasy.
Today is the day where the fight starts. We fought against tons of enemy troops unti we arrived at the base. That is the spot were we will start our infiltration.
Eastbound Rock Island intermodal heads through Joliet, Illinois in September of 1976. F-untis lead the much more modern 4700. However, the F's were no doubt equipped with cab signals. They were required on this section of the railroad.

BR DEMU 'Hampshire Unit' 1115 approaching Uckfield station in the February 1966, and passing 'Town Mill'..
1115 was renumbered 'Class 205' 205015, and was scrapped in 1993, but some examples survived in service with private UK rail operating companies unti 2004, and several have been preserved.
Today (2016) there is just a single track here, surrounded by trees, but the mill buildings are still there, in use as offices.. The line now terminates at Uckfield, at a 'new' single-platform station just before the site of the original one..
