The north temperate rain forests of the north Pacific coast are lush, dark and very biodiverse. They are pretty much inaccessible due to the dense growth, but in the Pacific Rim National Park boardwalks have been built to provide access to this unique ecosystem. This imaged was taken on Rainforest Trail B, south of Tofino, British Columbia. This ecosystem is used in the movie industry for movies involving man versus the untamed wilderness, and it would certainly be scary to be lost in these large pathless tracts of forest that are home to bears, wolves and wildcats. Untamed Pumas of Patagonia Expedition
The opportunity to observe wild puma cubs behaving naturally is a truly special time amongst the many memorable events with these wild felines of Patagonia.
Watching them play, explore, practice their skills for adulthood, interact with their mother and encounter new things in their environment.
One can easily lose hours to the observation, photography and filming of their antics.

In the relentless pace of modern life, where screens and notifications dictate our days, we often lose sight of what truly matters; the moments shared with those closest to us. We must disconnect from the ticking clock and the hum of technology and reconnect with the people and the world around us. In the stillness of nature, free from distractions, we find space to breathe, to listen, and to rediscover the bonds we’ve neglected. It’s in these quiet retreats that we remember the importance of being present, not just in the world, but in each other’s lives.
Untamed Peruvian Amazon Expedition
Red-capped Cardinal (Paroaria gularis)
The Paroaria genus contains the South American Cardinal species, a genus of tanagers, despite what you might think from the name and colouration.
Found throughout most of the Amazon Rainforest it is the most common and widespread of all the cardinal-tanager species. You are unlikely to miss these stunners on your trip to the Amazon.
The house stands.
Walls worn, paint fading.
Around it—fury.
Skies fracture.
Earth convulses.
The house does not move.
In the storm’s eye,
time holds its breath.
Stillness waits.

Untamed Birds of Colombia Expedition
Bronzy Inca (Coeligena coeligena)
A widespread inhabitant of the Andes, it is unlikely you will miss this hummingbird on any trip that visits the cloud forests of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru or northern Bolivia.
Perhaps not the most vibrantly coloured of the hummingbirds, but with the right angle and the right light they show an iridescent shine on their rump.
Hidden beauty for those who take the time for a closer look.

Untamed Birds of Colombia Expedition
Male Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra)
When biologists and naturalists began to explore the new world tropics (aka neotropics), collecting specimens and describing the species they encountered, they would occasionally make the mistake of thinking the different sexes of the same species were actually distinct species, as the sexual dichromatism was so extreme, like with this species. Another example of an incredibly colorful member of the tanager family.
Nature is a never ending source of wonder and surprises.

Untamed Birds of Colombia Expedition
Andean Motmot (Motmotus aequatorialis)
Normally in wildlife photography we would love for the bird or animal to come just that little bit closer. But every now and then, perhaps more often for those with 400mm + fixed focal length lenses and cropped sensor cameras, the object of our attention comes too close to fit in the frame.
Time for a close up.

Untamed land. A wild territory. That's what Tierra Indómita means in Spanish. Man has not won it. Men are just guests on it. Nature keeps reminding then who is in power.

The Feywilds had changed her. Her half-human side had faded, and the wilder beauty of the fae was evident in the re-sculpting of her features. The ever-hopeful gleam in the druid's eye's had now been replaced by a haunting knowingness...but what did she know now? What had she seen? What had transpired on her journey into the "wilds" that had marked her with such picture-perfect pain and rawness?
We sat and enjoyed the light show late last night.

I have posted a couple of images of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone from this trip but decided to upload one more anyway. I know what you're thinking..."There's that Lussier guy posting another HDR image from the Lower Falls." But you'd be wrong. This is a single frame just the way the matrix metering read the scene with no exposure compensation dialed in. Every detail in that one RAW file. :) I encourage you to look at this in "Original" size.
This doesn't necessarily mean I've given up hdr but through the gentle encouragement of friend and fellow photographer Mike Besant (please check out his work), as well as others, I've revisited scenes that might be improved using just a single shot like the "good old days". :)

Soul of a Gypsy,
The heart of a Hippie,
And the Spirit of a Fairy....
Wild and free,
just like a gypsy soul....
Embracing the unknown,
One step at a time....
Wild at heart,
untamed by society....
Wander often, wonder always....
Let the gypsy within you roam free and create a world of magic....

A little video that was filmed in between shots on my photoshoot with Andrea in sydney.
Quite short but still lovely, retro colours and floral patterns for the win!
I've been shooting lots of little experiment films lately, let me know what you think?
