Unstable photos on Flickr

I've been working on this for weeks now. I'm not sure I'll ever finish it (or at least it feels that way now) There is a poem that goes with it and it is being equally difficult. I've discovered that the magnetic lasso tool in CS3 photoshop is very unstable and it crashed this file and I lost a lot of work, which is very rare occurance for PS these days. I had to load CS2 photoshop just to make some mask selections. Very irritating! Also this file is very large maybe 65" wide if I want it to be. We shall see.

Anya was no ordinary mermaid. Her scales shimmered in hues of pink, a rarity in the depths of the ocean. Her long, flowing hair, the color of sun-kissed sand, cascaded down her back like a waterfall of gold. But Anya yearned for something more than the endless expanse of the sea. She dreamed of the land, the place she'd only ever seen in the dreams of the ancient sea turtles.

One moonlit night, as she gazed up at the stars twinkling above the ocean's surface, Anya whispered her wish to the moon. She longed to experience the warmth of the sun on her skin, to feel the soft grass beneath her feet, and to ride a majestic unicorn across the vast plains of the land.

To her surprise, the moon seemed to listen. The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight pierced the water, Anya felt an unusual tingling sensation. She looked down to see her tail transforming into long, slender legs. Her hair, now dry and flowing freely, caught the sunlight. She was human!

With newfound excitement, Anya swam to the surface and emerged onto the beach. The warm sand beneath her feet felt strange yet wonderful. She looked around, taking in the beauty of the land. The towering trees, the colorful flowers, and the vast expanse of sky filled her with awe.

As she wandered along the shore, she heard a soft neigh. Turning, she saw a magnificent unicorn grazing nearby. Its coat was a shimmering white, and its horn sparkled in the sunlight. Anya approached cautiously, her heart pounding with excitement. The unicorn lifted its head and regarded her with gentle eyes.

Without hesitation, Anya climbed onto the unicorn's back. The creature seemed to know her wish, and with a powerful leap, it soared into the sky. Anya felt a rush of exhilaration as they flew over the land. She saw towering mountains, lush forests, and sparkling rivers. It was everything she had ever dreamed of and more.

For days, Anya and the unicorn traveled together. They explored ancient cities, visited bustling markets, and met people from all walks of life. Anya learned about different cultures, tasted delicious foods, and hoped that soon she would also have the joy of human companionship.

Though she missed the ocean and her mermaid friends, Anya knew she had made the right choice. Her dream had come true, and she was grateful for the opportunity to experience the wonders of the land. As she rode her unicorn across the vast plains, she looked up at the moon and smiled. She was no longer just a mermaid; she was a dreamer, an adventurer, and a human.

As Anya continued her journey, her heart yearned for something more than adventure. She longed for companionship, for someone to share her experiences with. One evening, as she sat on a hilltop, watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of orange and purple, she felt a pang of loneliness.

Just as she was about to give up hope, she heard a familiar sound. A gentle rustling in the bushes caught her attention. A young man emerged, his eyes wide with wonder as he gazed at the breathtaking view. His name was Ethan, and he was a traveler like Anya, seeking adventure and meaning in his life.

Anya and Ethan spent hours talking that night. They discovered shared interests, common dreams, and a deep connection that transcended words. As the moon rose, casting its silvery glow over the landscape, Anya knew she had found the love she had been searching for.

Together, they continued their journey, their love growing stronger with each passing day. They explored hidden valleys, climbed towering mountains, and danced under the stars. Anya's heart was filled with joy as she realized that her dream of finding love had come true.

And so, the mermaid who had once dreamed of becoming human and riding a unicorn found not only adventure but also the greatest gift of all: true love. As they rode off into the sunset, hand in hand, Anya knew that her life was complete.

Each station is unique. Its architecture is determined by the different locations and by the space allowed by the Amsterdam city plan. At the same time, all stations are related to each other, and share a main architectural concept: the shortest possible connection between the underground platform and street level, and a logistics routing that flows in one continuous movement. Travelers are able to find their way intuitively. The use of daylight as a guiding principle and avoiding an underground labyrinth of passages, spoke to the selection committee in 1995. What followed was the assignment to Benthem Crouwel Architects of creating seven new metro stations: Noord, Noorderpark, Amsterdam Central Station, Rokin, Vijzelgracht, de Pijp, and Europaplein.

A unique artwork that identifies with the location and offers orientation to the travelers, was commissioned for each individual station. The pieces connect the subterranean with the world above ground, creating an underground art route by (inter)national artists, accessible to everyone. Additionally, station Rokin will exhibit 700.000 archaeological objects that were excavated during the construction.

In the heart of a vast, azure ocean, where sunlight dappled through the cerulean waters, lived a mermaid of unparalleled beauty. Her skin was as translucent as the finest pearl, her hair, a cascade of shimmering white, trailed behind her like a wake of moonlight. But despite her ethereal grace, she was alone.

Her home was a world of pure white coral, a stark contrast to the vibrant hues of the ocean. The soft, white sand beneath her feet was as smooth as silk, and the gentle currents carried the sweet scent of sea lilies. But the tranquility of her surroundings was a stark reminder of her solitude.

Every day, she would swim to the edge of her coral reef, her heart filled with longing. She would gaze out at the endless expanse of the ocean, her eyes searching for a sign of life, a glimpse of another creature. But all she found was the same, unchanging blue.

Year after year, she continued her solitary existence. She would sing mournful songs, her voice echoing through the depths of the sea. She would dance with the currents, her movements graceful and fluid. But no matter what she did, she could not shake the feeling of emptiness that gnawed at her soul.

One day, as she was swimming near the edge of her reef, she felt a tug on her tail. Startled, she turned to see a magnificent merman approaching. As they swam together, the mermaid felt a sense of peace she had never known before. The merman told her stories of distant lands, of vibrant coral reefs and shimmering lagoons. He spoke of mermaids with hair as red as fire and tails as green as seaweed. And as he spoke, the mermaid's heart filled with hope.

For the first time in her life, she felt truly alive. She had found someone who loved her for who she was, someone who would swim with her to the ends of the earth. And as they swam off into the sunset, the mermaid knew that her days of solitude were finally over.
