The Miraculous Staircase™ as seen on "Unsolved Mysteries." Loretto Chapel, commissioned in 1872, was well under construction when the builders realized that they'd neglected to include a way up to the choir loft. A conventional stairway would be too large. After nine days of prayer by the Loretto Sisters, a stranger appeared who said he could build a staircase, which he did--using no nails and no other supports beyond the structure of the spiral. The mystery is: was it St. Joseph himself, the carpenter?

Yet another incomplete section of wiring, and therefore another unsolved puzzle, left behind by Charles Aitken. Chris photographed this soldered junction of 3 different cables and then spent hours studying it at home. The various notes in the margins represent Chris' attempt to make sense of it. Some of the terminations at the other ends of wires need to be re-done before all of this can be tested. Because of the interconnection between the Pedal Division and the Great Division, this will require some unique wiring between spreader board and console. Therefore, Chris will wait until the work on the Great Division is nearing completion before ordering and installing the cables for both Pedal and Great.
