Crystal Mill | Marble, Colorado

I could not resist to return to the Crystal Mill this fall. This place is magical with the mill towering on the rocks and the colorful aspen trees around. As we stayed in Marble for a few days, we were able to leave early. The conditions were perfect this time. Morning mist was wrapping around the landscape, and while we were driving and I admired the beauty of the landscape around us, I was hoping we wouldn’t arrive too late at the mill. We did get some of the misty conditions upon arrival, which was nice.

The historical attraction and the natural beauty of Evoramonte still today maintain the force and fury of the past. Evoramonte is a village which proudly displays its scars and unshakeable foundations because its character was forged from iron, blood and fire, reconstructing itself after every attack. One way out is all you're ever goin' to get

From those who hand them out don't never let it upset you

'Cause they'll put words into your mouths

They're making it feel so ashamed

They're makin' you takin' the blame

They're makin' you cold in the night

They're makin' you question your heart and your soul

And I think that it's not quite right

Hey stay young and invincible

'Cause we know just what we are

And come what may we're unstoppable

'Cause we know just what we are

Yeah we know just what we are

Feed your head with all the things you need when you're hungry

And stay in bed and sleep all day as long as it's Sunday

'Cause they'll put words into my mouth

They're making it feel so ashamed

They're makin' me takin' the blame

They're makin' me cold in the night

They're makin' me question my heart and my soul

And I think that it's not quite right

Hey stay young and invincible

'Cause we know just what we are

And come what may we're unstoppable

'Cause we know just what we are

Yeah we know just what we are

Hey stay young and invincible

'Cause we know just what we are

And come what may we're unstoppable

'Cause we know just what we are

Hey stay young and invincible

'Cause we know just what we are

And come what may my faith's unshakeable

Captured this moment of vulnerability in an otherwise unshakeable soul. Night musings.

I am invincible, unbreakable

Unstoppable, unshakeable

They knock me down, I get up again

I am the champion

You're gonna know my name

You can't hurt me now

I can't feel the pain

I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win

People like you or I know, we have an unshakeable belief that cars are living entities...you can develop a relationship with a car. And that's just what non-car people don't get."

Generally, it's been much more difficult for a woman to pull out of a toxic relationship. These decisions are not taken lightly. When the mind is made up, their determination is unshakeable and woe betide anyone standing in their way.

I’m done with you

I’m done with you

You broke my heart

We were one now two

You kept on cheating

I always knew

The physical abuse

Verbal,

Emotional

And mental too

Destroyed us now

I can’t believe you now

I put up with it

Because I was in love

But now I love myself

More than you

It feels so good

To finally be through

Though, wounded and bruised

Sad and confused

I know this time

I will not choose you

I’m done

I’m done

I’m fucking done with you.

there are gazes that ask questions, and there are those that give answers. this one does neither. it is a statement of fact. a direct, unflinching look that does not seek approval, nor does it offer a challenge. it simply is. it holds the camera, and the viewer, in a moment of absolute clarity. the world is a blur of hair and light, but the eyes are a point of profound stillness. it is a portrait of strength. not the loud, aggressive kind, but the quiet, deep, and unshakeable kind. a portrait of a soul that knows its own ground.

The Cactus Garden is a magnificent example of an integrated architectural intervention into the landscape. César Manrique (born on Lanzarote) created this audacious architectonic complex whilst maintaining the unshakeable pairing of art and nature that is so tangible in all of his spatial interventions.

It is located in an agricultural environment characterized by extensive plantations of cacti dedicated to the cultivation of the "cochineal" (Mexican red scale insect that feeds on cacti; the source of a red dye).

Taxi to Anarchy Arena

The air crackled with anticipation, a palpable hum of excitement that threatened to blow the roof off the legendary Anarchy Arena. Tonight marked the triumphant debut of the fiery band, The Riot Girls at the Anarchy Arena.

From the moment they exploded onto the stage, it was clear this was no ordinary gig. Launching headfirst into their eponymous anthem, "Riot Girls," the band unleashed an unbridled torrent of raw power and pure rock 'n' roll energy.

Lead singer Isa Sorbet's commanding vocals soared above the driving keyboards by Angella DeCuir, perfectly complementing the searing riffs and intricate solos laid down by lead guitarist Ronnie Jett, who also masterminded the song's brilliant music and lyrics.

With Frankie Joubert and Pia Kiko delivering a relentless rhythm on guitar and Ambre Moonlight's drums providing a thunderous, unshakeable backbone, the gig became a living, breathing entity, a defiant rallying cry that reverberated through every soul in the packed venue.

As the final, electrifying chord faded into the echoing silence, the arena erupted. The entire audience, who had simply melted into the immersive world of sound and raw emotions meticulously crafted by our brilliant and talented rock stars, rose to their feet in a deafening, unanimous standing ovation, cementing The Riot Girls' as the tremendous Rock Band.

A towering old-timer, strong and unshakeable.

This striking photograph captures the soul-stirring trail to Kedarnath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage routes in India. The foreground reveals a rugged mountain path winding its way through dramatic Himalayan terrain—rocky, uneven, and etched with the footsteps of countless pilgrims over centuries. Clusters of devotees can be seen making their arduous ascent, some on foot, others on mules, wrapped in layers to protect against the biting mountain chill. Their faces reflect a blend of exhaustion and deep spiritual resolve. Makeshift stalls, fluttering prayer flags, and the occasional stone shrine dot the route, while the distant hum of chants and temple bells echo faintly through the cold, rarefied air. Rising behind them are the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, glowing in the sunlight—silent, ancient witnesses to this timeless journey of faith.

The backdrop of the image—an expanse of towering Himalayan mountains—commands reverence. Among them, the Kedarnath Dome and Chaukhamba range rise with stoic elegance, forming a breathtaking curtain of ice and stone. These peaks not only define the geography but embody the spiritual magnitude of the place. The trail itself, though physically demanding, is more than a physical journey; it is a passage of inner awakening. The stark contrast between the raw, unforgiving landscape and the humble persistence of pilgrims creates an atmosphere of awe and quiet reflection. The air is thin, the temperature unforgiving, yet each step toward the Kedarnath temple is taken with unshakeable devotion and a belief in the divine power of Lord Shiva.

Steeped in legend, the history of Kedarnath dates back thousands of years. The temple, perched at 11,755 feet, is said to have been built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra war, and later revived in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense importance in the Char Dham Yatra. Lord Shiva is believed to have vanished into the ground here in the form of a bull, leaving behind his hump—now enshrined within the temple. Despite enduring harsh weather and surviving the catastrophic 2013 floods, the temple stands strong, a symbol of faith and resilience. This photograph is more than a scenic memory—it captures a living tradition, where the ancient mountains, sacred myths, and enduring devotion come together in one powerful, timeless moment.

Symbolique

Symbolism

"In Greek, ‘aster’ means ‘star’. In the language of flowers, the aster is a symbol of eternal love, fidelity and comfort at the end of life. According to Greek mythology, the aster was born from the tears shed by the Greek goddess of Justice, Astrea, when Pandora opened the box containing all the evils of mankind. Roman mythology, on the other hand, made it the emblematic flower of Venus, the goddess of love. The meaning of the aster varies according to the colour of the flowers. Red expresses infinite passion, white faithful love and pink unshakeable affection… "

Hope Inspiring Resplendent Roses & Blossoms At Blessed Home Long Island, New York, Day Before My Birthday 2012 - IMRAN®

A dozen years ago before I penned these words in 2024, the rose bushes at my blessed home on Long Island, New York, were in full, glorious bloom. It was the early summer of 2012, the day before my 50th birthday.

The tornadoes and droughts of total economic meltdown, brought on by the policies of Republican President George W. Bush which enriched the super-wealthy with one trillion dollars of tax cuts, had wreaked havoc on my life as on millions of ordinary individuals, families, and entire towns. The next few years were spent on surviving, recovering, and rebuilding. Even then it was a rocky road.

By the time 2012 rolled in, after a labyrinthine journey of heart-sinking troughs, fleeting peaks, and unexpected drops into new valleys, life began to hint at a promising change ahead. I had to remind myself that life’s most exquisite blooms often come accompanied by the piercing thorns of reality.

The key is to persistently tend to one’s garden of dreams, rooting it in unshakeable faith, nurturing it with the water of hope, showering it with the rain of love, fortifying it with the grains of gratitude, and ceaselessly illuminating it with the lights of confidence, and perseverance.

No matter the adversities you face, remember, they are but temporary. You possess the strength to surmount them. Never let go of your dreams. Never relinquish your authentic self. Within you lies an indomitable spirit. You are capable of blooming despite the thorns. Are you ready to live the life you dream of?

MOUTH of TRUTH

IIn the portico of the Paleochristian church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, at the foot of the Aventine hills, a Roman statue is conserved that has attracted the attention and curiosity of tourists from all over the world. It is the "Bocca della Verità", an ancient stone mask from the Classical period that represents a river god with an open mouth, wide eyes and a flowing mane of hair.

The reason for its unshakeable fame is a rather macabre legend associated with the mask since ancient times. If a liar puts their hand inside its mouth, they will lose it.

This legend probably originates from Roman times. It is said that the rich wife of a Roman noble was accused of adultery. The woman denied the accusations, but her husband wanted to put her to the test by making her hand inside the stone mouth. Knowing perfectly well that she was lying, the woman used a very clever strategy. In front of a group of curious bystanders who had gathered around the Mouth of Truth, the man who was actually her lover embraced her and kissed her. She pretended that she didn't know him and accused him of being a madman and the crowd chased him away.

When she put her hand into the mouth, the woman declared that she had never kissed any other man apart from her husband and the poor madman who had just kissed her. In this way she was certain that she hadn't lied and her hand was saved. The betrayed husband saved her honour, but the Mouth of Truth lost its credibility and it is said that since that day it no longer carried out its function as a right and unappeasable judge.

Even today, this ancient mask is the cause of queues of tourists who line up outside the beautiful Paleochristian church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin. The thrill of the risk is evidently too strong and you honestly can't resist putting your hand inside this harmless, but unsettling stone face and hope for the best!

Q: Were you always like this from the first moment of enlightenment?

M: The three states rotate as usual -- there is waking and sleeping and waking again, but they do not happen to me. They just happen. To me nothing ever happens. There is something changeless, motionless, immovable, rocklike, unassailable; a solid mass of pure being-consciousness-bliss. I am never out of it. Nothing can take me out of it, no torture, no calamity.

Q: Yet, you are conscious!

M: Yes and no. There is peace -- deep, immense, unshakeable. Events are registered in memory, but are of no importance. I am hardly aware of them.

Q: If I understand you rightly, this state did not come by cultivation.

M: There was no coming. It was so -- always. There was discovery and it was sudden. Just as at birth you discover the world suddenly, as suddenly I discovered my real being.

Q: Was it clouded over and your sadhana dissolved the mist? When your true state became clear to you, did it remain clear, or did it get obscured again? Is your condition permanent or intermittent?

M: Absolutely steady. Whatever I may do, it stays like a rock -- motionless. Once you have awakened into reality, you stay in it. A child does not return to the womb! It is a simple state, smaller than the smallest, bigger than the biggest. It is self-evident and yet beyond description.

They knock me down, I get up again

I am the champion, you're gon' know my name

You can't hurt me now, I can't feel the pain

I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win

I am the champion

I'm the champion, yeah, surpassed all rivals

It's all about who wants it the most

I am the champion

Fight for what we believe in

That's what champions are made of

I am the champion (Yeah, champion)

the message behind the image is that we really do have this incredible power of manifestation.. we are the creators of the world.. through our thoughts

"we are what we think.

all that we are arises with our thoughts.

with our thoughts we make the world.

speak or act with an impure mind

and trouble will follow you

as the wheel that follows the ox that draws the cart.

.... speak or act with a pure mind

and happiness will follow you

as your shadow, unshakeable."

oh and HCS!!!!

Virginia is a really sweet girl with a quiet, unshakeable confidence. What could go wrong? Her fashion sense is a little bit minimalist, and the guys seem to really like her... but somehow, her relationships never last too long.

Horace Pippin (1888-1946) was, by any measure, a disadvantaged man.

His grandparents were slaves. Like countless other blacks of his generation, he was poor and poorly educated. He left school in the third grade. In battle during World War I he lost the use of his right arm. Occasionally he drank. When he worked he held the most menial of jobs, junk gatherer, warehouse man, hotel porter. Later he delivered laundry that his wife took in.

Nothing in his biography explains how he became an extraordinary painter. No one gave him lessons or showed him the old masters. He said he "came to art the hard way." He taught it to himself.

Pippin's gifts were recognized at once. Between his first and second local shows, his pictures were "discovered," purchased or applauded by the artist N.C. Wyeth, the collector Albert Barnes (of the Barnes Collection), and by the Museum of Modern Art.

Pippin's art is magical. The beauty of his colors and the power of his pictures will be sensed at once by all who pay a visit to the Horace Pippin retrospective, which will be on view through March 27 at the Phillips Collection here.

Like other self-taught masters, like the poet William Blake, the Douanier Rousseau or his fellow Pennsylvanian the limner Edward Hicks (1780-1849), Pippin received visions. The pictures "come to me," he said. "I do over the picture several times in my mind and when I am ready to paint it I have all the details I need." Whether painting saints or landscapes, the war, Abe Lincoln or John Brown, Pippin's pictures demonstrate unshakeable conviction.

Because his forms are so robust, because his compositions are so daring, the painter Romare Bearden, who met Pippin only once, was astonished to hear Pippin say his paintings "were completely realistic . . . To him these images were not distortions, but perfectly literal translations of the literal world."

Such terms as "folk art," "popular," naive," seem somehow condescending when applied to the sophistications of Horace Pippin's art. Look, for instance, at his clouds, at his sunsets and his skies, or at the way his pattersn interlock and echo in the battle-blasted wall of "Shell Holes and Observation Balloon: Champagne Sector," a scene of the great war which the artist did from memory in 1931.

There are other splendid paintings here, the Whitney Museum's "Buffalo Hunt" of 1933, "West Chester Courthouse," of 1940. "The Amish Letter Writer," with its amazing interplay of diagonals and circles. "The Squirrel Hunter" of 1940, and "John Brown Going to His Hanging" of 1942.

Pippin's grandmother was a witness to that execution. While a crowd stares at the martyr in the Pennsylvania Academy's paiting, she turns her face away.

Look closely at that picture's colors, at how the red scarves of the white men accentuate the blue-and-white grid pattern of her dress. Two color systems operate in Pippin's finest pictures. One is based on small zones of brilliant hue, the other is an extraordinary subtle play of close-toned grays and blacks.

The grandmother's shawl and bonnet are painted in the grays of the clapboard wall behind her. "One can tell a true colorist by how he handles grays," writes the Phillips' James McLaughin. "By this standard Pippin shows himself a master colorist."

Pippin painted with difficulty. Because his arm was ruined, he had to support his right hand with his left when he used the brush. When new his pictures sold for $50 or $100.Some now cost as much as $50,000.

He leaned back with the kind of effortless charm that made the dim bar lights seem choreographed just for him.

Every detail...the crisp suit, the steady gaze, the swirl of amber in his glass....suggested a man who moved through life with unshakeable confidence. People whispered stories about him: a strategist, a visionary, a master of quiet power.

Yet in the hush between one elegant sip and the next, his phone lit up on the table beside him. Three words flashed across the screen in bold, unforgiving capitals:

“MUM: YOUR LAUNDRY’S READY.”

And just like that, the illusion dissolved — replaced by the unmistakable truth that even the smoothest-looking men sometimes go home to a basket of neatly folded socks.

(My 166th Flickr Explore!)
