I visited the opening of Unseen yesterday. There was a quite a crowd gathering and the VIP funnel was also filled.

Underdressed I mingled with the high-society of worldwide galleries displaying their talented photographers.

What I liked best were the dynamic properties of photos. Some photographers had used multiple techniques to incorporate photos into other works of art. A popular theme seemed to be (blurred) circles, mirrored or replaced heads (as is also seen in this example where cartes de visites heads were altered).

Personally I liked the works of James Hyde, due to the use of simple striking photos invoking emotions towards it's subjects (a more exhaustive narrative here.) and Jason Oddy who masterly captures tranquil spaces finding a balance of the place with a nice critical striking composition.

A Korean photographer – sorry I don't have a name, there's no Unseen website(!) – had an interesting composition of a city made with 16 different photos stitched into one huge cityscape.

What is also very interesting and can only be seen when you see so many photos together is how the frame of the photograph can really add to the impact and personality of the photo. This is common knowledge, but very visible in such a large gathering of different photos.

P.S. The lday in the blue dress was already a deliberately blurred photo.
