The weeds are coming back.

They stand defiant in the grass with blooms

like tiny pastel flags.

They push their way through

mulch and fence, unfurling glossy leaves

as if to taunt.

They wind and grasp and climb their way

to light and life.

The weeds are coming back.

Tomorrow perhaps

I will search out where it was

I may have left those garden gloves,

perhaps pull up a few and pile their weedy selves

in little heaps around the yard,

making refuge for the bugs and suchlike things

to find.

Today I’ll settle back, soak up the sinking sun,

tip my glass a time or two

and celebrate the loss

of control.

I had come to photograph red-winged blackbirds, and as I left I could see that 5 young white-tailed deer had come to the water to drink, but as it often goes with youngsters, they started frolicking--hopping to get the hind legs high in the air, chasing, splashing, running away. Spontaneous, unrestrained fun.

Two little Westies enjoying a summers day running along the beach and the surf

Prompt: Create a realistic digital fine art of two West Highland White Terriers running through the shallow surf of along a beach. The scene captures the dogs mid-motion, splashing through the foamy waves with their ears perked up. Their white coats glisten with water and sunlight, and reflections on the wet sand beneath their paws.

The background features a vibrant seascape with turquoise waves crashing against the shore, sending white sea spray into the air. The sky above is partly cloudy with soft white clouds, filled with distant birds soaring over the ocean. The mood is energetic and carefree, evoking the spirit of summer and the unrestrained joy of dogs at play.

Four facets of a single face crosswise, facing the sky through leaves

and clouds right into the open while radiating the conceited certainty

of youth and proudly praising the blessed sunshine -- perfection, in

all.

Four Dimensional Quasi-unity

Unrestrained awe like a prayer to Sun God in four beats with green

leaves, blue sky and fluffy clouds reinforcing the harmony, so much so

that even the crosswise arrangement of the radiant light and rampant

foliage sifting through the x-shape of quadruple faces hardly creates

a sense of slight suspicion.

With all the good will in the World

today, or yesterday

nothing will stop the indomitable and superior course of nature

it meanders, teases, reclines, then pounces...

upon us unsuspecting peoples

we, of the 'superior' parliaments and scientific constitutions

prance, purposefully, along the corridors of sleaze

flowing in popularist ideals and political deals

cabinets and senates, backbench corruption and innermost glees

always human, in artifical light

without so much as the foresight

to step aside, outside, into the truth

only when thunder strikes, or a levee breaks

do we just begin to taste mortality

at the very hands of the 'poor' who know the land like the back of their hand,

more than any presidential, governmental 'climatic change' can ever muster

if you trust in life, in yourself, in nature...

you are truly living, unrestrained by any policy of lies.

When you enter the complex you start your tour by crossing the Bridge of The Cycle of Rebirth on your way to the ubosot. Beside the bridge are hundreds of outstretched hands symbolizing unrestrained desire. Wat Rang Khun, Chiang Rai, Thailand

In Magdelena's eyes, a thousand tales reside,

Each face a canvas, stories painted with grace,

A tapestry of emotions, woven side by side,

A glimpse into a world of mystery and embrace.

The first face, innocence, untouched by time,

A child's laughter, ringing through the air,

Eyes sparkling like stars, hopes forever climb,

A tender heart, untouched by worldly despair.

The second face, wisdom, etched upon her brow,

Lines of experience, carved by life's embrace,

A lifetime of lessons, yet she wears them now,

With grace and dignity, in every step she takes.

The third face, passion, a fire that burns within,

Eyes aflame with dreams, desires unrestrained,

She dances with abandon, free from any sin,

Her spirit fierce, her heart forever unchained.

Magdelena, a kaleidoscope of faces divine,

Each one a masterpiece, a treasure so rare,

In her complexity, a symphony of design,

The beauty of her many faces, beyond compare.

So let us celebrate Magdelena's allure,

Her many faces, a testament to her grace,

For in each expression, we find something pure,

A reflection of humanity's boundless embrace.

Thanks to the children of the forest, the trees of the Wistman's Wood had grown tall and hearty; For many years they have cared for the native flora and fauna. The ancient wood stayed peaceful and much the same despite the ever-changing outside world.

Despite an edict made long ago to leave the woods untouched. The humble inn along the single road through the wood has slowly become a growing settlement of travelers and farmers. Without much delay or consideration, the greedy outsiders ripped the roots of the trees from the earth, leeching life from the once lush forest. Acres of trees became nothing but stumps and rows of crops.

In a final effort to see their farms unrestrained by an edict long ignored, the local farmers planned an attack on the home of the children of the forest; waiting until autumn when the fallen leaves no longer can hide the green clad forest dwellers.

What they didn’t expect was these passive children to have prepared for such a day. The odd crude bow and sling were little threat, but the appearance of oak warforged is a cause for considerable concern.

* In symbolism, it means unrestrained power in spite of small. Consistency, childlike innocence, purity, modesty, sorrow, maternal, knightly and constant love. The flower language says, "My feelings are not to be shaken." - "I'm counting on time."

The Wat Rong Khun (วัดร่องขุ่น), perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a contemporary, unconventional, privately-owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.

The bridge of "the cycle of rebirth": the main building at the white temple, the ubosot, is reached by crossing a bridge over a small lake. In front of the bridge are hundreds of outreaching hands that symbolize unrestrained desire. The bridge proclaims that the way to happiness is by foregoing temptation, greed, and desire. Next to the lake stand two very elegant Kinnaree, half-human, half-bird creatures from Buddhist mythology [Wikipedia.org]

That's the tactic of the current US president as he runs riot, rampaging through our Constitution, laws, agencies, courts, checks and balances, alliances, Congress...

With a fury of executive orders, court cases piling up, court orders given/ignored, things on again/off again, he's unrestrained, throwing spaghetti at the walls to see what sticks, how much he can get away with in flippant disregard for our foundational roots and basic human decency.

Every day something else, hoping to create resistance fatigue and outrage exhaustion....hopelessness.

And his never ending lies, his venom, his stupidity, his fragile ego needing to be adored, requiring loyalty only to himself and revenge if not given.

He's the man who would be king.

In effect, his pathetic pathology, the madness of King Donald.

We thought this day would never come — but here it is! There doesn't seem to be a significant enough way to fully thank all my lovely friends for the months and months and months of wonderful support, encouragement and friendship. So I will leave you all with another quote — one that I hope expresses my gratitude more eloquently …

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art ― write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”

So bel canto this warbling Musetta atop her honey-locust, her flowering La Scala, in her spot of sun, this yellow- breasted Maria Callas trilling with such vivacity, such post-dawn jubilato above the flagstone patio dew has veiled in lace, not the Merry Widow nor Lucia, not the vamping boulevardiers or cafe scene's flouncy flirting, but unrestrained ecstasy above high C, maybe more Mimi's half other-wordly, Act III reverie as a new day breaks, before the crows saunter back or the neighbor's cats swarm out, before the backing track's white noise drones Miss Meadowlark's scales to soft pips. For the moment she has set atwitter, she reigns, gold-flecked crown- feathers and nape and puffing chest aglow in a beam that splits the upper rafters. Her arietta seems beyond words, each note a thread in a tapestry of sound she's weaving: what it means is beyond me. What it means, means nothing to her or the other cheepers and tweeters starting up. She sings to sing.

The wild Atlantic way.

The Wild Atlantic Way, 2600 km (1600 miles) in length, is one of the longest defined coastal route in the world. It winds its way all along the Irish west coast from the Inishowen Peninsula in the north down to the picturesque town of Kinsale, County Cork, in the south. This route from start to finish unfolds the wonders of nature, the power of the ocean and its imprint on the west coast of Ireland, and the stunning countryside in all its diversity. Enchanting villages are nestled along the coast as well as ancient monuments – their origins having long sunk into the mists of oblivion dot the landscape. Behind every bend on this magical coastal road a new delight awaits.

The wild Atlantic with its unrestrained and untameable tides and storms has continuously been moulding the west coast of Ireland. With a constant meeting of water and land, a deeply indented and wild terrain has emerged with towering cliffs, spellbinding bays and beaches, mystical islands, always changing and never reaching the end. In the isolation or perhaps expressed in a different way living near and with the Atlantic at your doorstep has ensured that old traditions and the Irish language have been preserved. A trip along the Wild Atlantic Way is also an encounter with the past.

An unlikely marriage of formality and unrestrained exuberance, Venetians began as an experiment by Chihuly and Italian maestro glassblower Lino Tagliapietra. At the core of the Venetians is a classical vessel, with wildly flamboyant attachments like snaky handles, leaves, and twisted coils and ribbons.

Must have been what Autumn though as she startled this garter snake basking on the path. She jumped back a good foot and for the rest of the walk was disturbed ever time anything touched her feet. This juvenile Red Tailed Hawk came to the Wildlife Center several months ago with a fractured clavicle. After months of treatment, including physical therapy, he was released back into the wild this morning. He is seen here unrestrained standing on Sharon's gloved hands, and preparing to fly. 2 seconds later he was airborne. State Law does not allow us to take photos in the Wildlife Center, when the birds are being rehabbed, so, release days are always great photo ops.

The Abandoned (noun).

1. Deserted

2. Forsaken by owner or inhabitants.

3. Unrestrained

4. Depraved.

Pretty often we use the word "abandoned” as adjective: an abandoned building, an abandoned kitten,

even a family member or child. You can figure out feelings of live object who was abandoned... but if you put yourself instead of those abandoned people, you understand that adjective immediately transforms to noun. And you’re already the ABANDONED with unknown future or even present time.

You don’t know what to do, where to go...

For preventing any questions I have to say, It’s not about me, I have friends and family but I was in similar situation in my past and probably that’s why understand the feelings of abandoned people and... even abandoned things...

Yes... I always thought that abandoned cars, buildings or other things have same feelings as a humans but they can’t speak and we often don’t look around and can’t recognize what they want to say...

I saw this ABANDONED in Toronto not on some garbage place, but in very public area, near the embankment of Lake Ontario, not so far from the Harbour. This ‘vehicle’ was drowned in a half in the water of the pool with fountain and people surrounded this pool were in very good mood - it was Friday night... Everyone got a fun, eating, drinking, looking at some street performers... Everyone, except this ABANDONED. HE was a stranger at the fest of others... Yes, it’s not mistake, I said HE because I understood HIS feelings at that time... So... think about it when you’re going to bring your old friend-car to the car cemetery...

WARNING! the following contains shameless and unrestrained praise of own son: I was inspired to make this illustration/sketch last year when I read one of my sons 6th grade school projects. His assignment was to write a handwritten 2-5 page fantasy story, following a given set of genre rules. He surprised us all by handing in a 52 pages long story called "The Seventh Guardian", a computer text document with 8 chapters filled with pure fantasy suspense. Set in several parallel worlds endangered by the fight between good and evil....the plot had everything....it even had a cliffhanger at the end...you know, so that we would ask for a sequal. How´s that for an 11 year old?! I had a plan to get it properly printed with more illustrations to go with it, but it kind of blew over...and well...some day maybe. (perhaps I´ll surprise him with it on his weddingday or something:)

We had something to celebrate. We met 30 years ago, and moved together within a month. Her artistry stood out at home way before I pointed a camera at the night sky. Never seeking notoriety, her unrestrained assessment on my photography (and everything else) positively influenced my work in more ways I can remember. Not only I owe to her my large share of solo trips, she has also been out there next to me more times than anyone else, often helping with everything but operating the camera. She, however, would always stay in the sidelines when the shutter was open.

Two nights ago, after more than 12 years since I started photographing the night sky, to celebrate our 30 years together, we held hands and stood on the other side of the camera together for the first time, as we stared at a sky filled with stars surrounding us whether we looked up or down. We weren't looking for the perfect picture, or some great social media visual. It only had to be perfect for us. And it was. A mathematically centered meteor way up in the sky - that she mentioned she saw but I only noticed in "post" next day at home - timed itself to bless an already memorable scene.

This wasn't going to happen just anywhere, and I have my share of stories with this place. Tenaya Lake is about the most accessible alpine lake in Yosemite, and one of the most gorgeous on top of that. I fell in love with the lake when I spent my first night there 7 years ago and captured my first Milky Way reflection. After that, I've photographed reflections, star trails, meteor showers and tons of other nightscapes during the many (often entire) nights I've spent there on one shore or another. Every year I watch when Tioga Pass opens for the season - which is always nicely timed with the summer Milky Way - and it doesn't take long until I pay it a visit. This year it was the most special visit of all.

The image: Unlike far too many "couple silhouette" night shots, this isn't a composite. It's not that capturing this in a single shot is difficult (it's not), but to me composites don't record memories, they only fabricate or emulate them, and our drive was very different. The image is two stitched single shots, same settings and focus, one pointing at the horizon captured at 3:11am, the other one pointing up just one minute later (3:12am). Each shot: Sony a7s @ 3200 ISO, 15 seconds, Rokinon 24mm @ f/2.2.

It was a day swathed in heavy cloud and rain, yet the mountains called me with a quiet, insistent pull that I could not ignore. The air was thick and weighted with a mist that clung to the skin and seeped into the bones, yet still, I chose to venture upward, toward the cloud-wrapped summits. I climbed to a peak straddling France and Andorra, rising near 2,800 meters into the sky, a place where the earth reaches up and mingles with the low-hanging heavens. The chill was sharp and damp, hovering close to freezing but not wholly surrendering to ice. I wrapped myself in every layer I possessed, each one a meager defense against the fine, seeping chill that saturates the mountains on such days. Raincoat fastened, I settled in to wait for the spectacle of fog and low clouds to descend.

Time slipped from my grasp as I sat there, and eventually, without intending to, I drifted into a quiet, dreamless sleep. When I awoke, I was greeted not by the heavy gray that had lulled me, but by a burst of sunlight, bright and sudden, breaking through a tear in the clouded ceiling. Around me, the fog lay thick and heavy, a boundless ocean of white, while above, a single clear breach allowed the sun’s rays to pour down, illuminating the mist with a cold, otherworldly brilliance. The fog seemed to move, flowing in great, silent waves down the slopes on either side, like some vast, ethereal river cascading gently down an invisible incline. It held a mystical quality, as if I had been granted a glimpse into the breath of the world itself, a rare and transient sight that would vanish as quickly as it had appeared.

Then, as if in response to some hidden command, the gap in the clouds closed, and the light dimmed, leaving me in a muted twilight of swirling mist. I lowered myself to the ground, seeking a kind of stillness, a quiet center amid the shifting currents of cloud and light. Closing my eyes, I sank into the rhythm of the landscape, letting it weave its way into my thoughts and quiet the buzzing mind.

Yet just as I felt I had reached a state of true repose, a new movement drew my eyes upward. Slowly, the fog in front of me began to pull back, its silken veil parting to reveal a vision that struck me with silent awe. Far below, in the cleft of a distant gorge, torrents of rain poured down in relentless streams, a powerful, unrestrained flood cast from the heavens. And there, as if in some grand celestial display, beams of sunlight pierced through hidden openings in the clouds, illuminating the downpour with fierce clarity. The rain glowed under the sunlight, each droplet catching the light, shimmering like molten silver as it fell—a spectacle half of earth, half of sky, poised in a moment of exquisite balance.

I sat transfixed, time forgotten, all sense of self lost in the immensity of what lay before me. This fleeting display, this union of rain and sunlight, of obscured and revealed, held me in its grasp. And there, in that solitary, mountain-bound place, I felt myself dissolve into the rhythm of it all, caught up in nature’s silent reverence, watching as the world breathed and shifted, unveiling its transient wonders in a language beyond words.

Another attempt at the motion panning. Tried this shot during the annual Nihangs' procession in Amritsar, India. During this event the Nihangs show their martial art and horse riding skills after a religious procession is taken out. All the Nihangs who take part in the procession then gather in a ground where they exhibit their skills with weapons and on horse backs. In this shot this young Nihang is attempting a very difficult maneuver by standing on top of the two running horses.
