Whenever I am near Severin na Kupi, I stop by to see the Frankopan castle. And every time a new disappointment: by the action of nature and people the castle is more and more devastated and more and more neglected. These are events typical of the Balkans, but also these areas very far from the Balkans, but with the Balkans in behavior and soul. Unresolved property-legal relations are just an excuse to do nothing further, and they are welcome to someone.

Rano Raraku via Ara o Te Moai is a 6.4 kilometer lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Easter Island, Valparaíso, Chile that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels.
The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from November until May.

Once upright, the sculpting was completed and the Moai was ready to take one of the four “Moai paths” that would lead it to the ahu (altar) it was destined for. Though many theories have been stipulated, the transport of the Moai is still the biggest unresolved mystery of Easter Island.

On a sleepless night the mind takes an endless stroll along an empty street. Roots burst from the cracks of the concrete, some old, some fresh and some in between. They coil on the side, keeping the mind some company in the recollection of what lies beneath.
The past seems to be the most memorable. Why do you love to visit these times? It is gone forever. There is just no point in losing sleep over something you can never return to or have again. Somehow, the mind and heart can be silly to want to hold on to these. Some unresolved emotions or perhaps allowing the feeling to never fade. The future is the second most visited part of a sleepless mind. But, I don't understand just how does it help thinking of something uncontrollable? Despite the millions of plans made, the accurate calculations, something or the other happens to either make it worst or if you are lucky, much better. That is what we call hope, isn't it?
The present seems to be the least visited thought. Why can't you stop wandering the endless dark street and just get some rest? After all, the present is what matters in this moment. It is what you need to act on without much thought. Maybe trying to sleep is the first step to escape this late night stroll...

Think about how bright the supernova must be. Every other star visible "in" the galaxy is actually a foreground star in our Milky Way galaxy, and are 10s to a few hundred light years away. The Pinwheel Galaxy is 20 million light years away. The core and sprial arm structure seen in the image is the combined light of a trillion unresolved stars. Given that the intensity of light drops off at 1/r^2, the supernova must be unimaginably bright in order to outshine many of the foreground stars that are just a fraction of the supernova's distance.

Wikipedia: The Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (Sousa chinensis) is a species of humpback dolphin inhabiting coastal waters of the eastern Indian and western Pacific Oceans. This species is often referred to as the Chinese white dolphin in mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan as a common name. Some biologists regard the Indo-Pacific dolphin as a subspecies of the Indian Ocean humpback dolphin (S. plumbea) which ranges from East Africa to India. However, DNA testing studies have shown that the two are distinct species. A new species, the Australian humpback dolphin (S. sahulensis), was split off from S. chinensis and recognized as a distinct species in 2014. Nevertheless, there are still several unresolved issues in differentiation of the Indian Ocean-type and Indo-Pacific-type humpback dolphins.
An adult Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin is grey, white or pink and may appear as an albino dolphin to some. Populations along the coasts of China and Thailand have been observed with pink skin. The pink color originates not from a pigment, but from blood vessels which were overdeveloped for thermoregulation.

St Aidan's is a 400-hectare (990-acre) Country Park between Leeds and Castleford in West Yorkshire, England. The land was formerly an opencast coal mining area that was flooded in 1988 after the riverbank collapsed. Repairs and remediation required its own act in Parliament to allow the necessary works to go ahead. Mining ceased at St Aidan's in 2002
The Country Park opened to the public in May 2013 under the care of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). However, the car park and visitor centre were subsequently closed in July 2013 due to unresolved land issues. A 99-year lease was signed from the council to the RSPB in March 2017. The origin of the beach’s enigmatic title lies in the tale of “La Viuda” (The Widow), a mysterious figure said to have arrived decades ago, cloaked in wealth and solitude. Though her identity remains elusive, locals insist she was an outsider who sought refuge in this remote corner of Uruguay when it was little more than a forgotten stretch of coast. What is certain is that she inhabited a mansion already standing long before her arrival—a structure whose origins are as murky as the Atlantic fog. Oral histories suggest the house existed as early as the 1940s, built by a wealthy landowner from a nearby town, though its true architect remains unknown. Some even speculate the walls hold secrets older than the village itself.
What the widow did claim, however, was the lighthouse beside the mansion. Legends suggest she struck a deal with authorities: in exchange for maintaining—or perhaps constructing—the beacon, she could keep her isolated home, despite its precarious location in a restricted coastal zone. This pact, real or imagined, bound her legacy to the sea’s dangers. The lighthouse, still standing today, became a symbol of her enigmatic presence, guiding ships through the same currents that now draw surfers to the beach’s infamous breaks.
The ocean’s wrath here is no accident. The Playa de la Viuda faces the open Atlantic, where colliding tides, hidden rocks, and shifting sandbars churn the waters into a maelstrom. Justicia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Acanthaceae. It is the largest genus within the family, encompassing around 700 species with hundreds more as yet unresolved. They are native to tropical to warm temperate regions of the Americas, India and Africa. The genus serves as host to many butterfly species, such as Anartia fatima.
It was discovered on 5 August 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.
Located in the southern constellation Sculptor, NGC 300 measures 22 arc-minutes in apparent size and is only about 6 million light years distant. By comparison, M31 is 2.5 million, M33 2.73 million.
The spiral arms are full of young blue stars with H alpha regions interspersed throughout the galaxy. Although it appears to be face-on, it’s actually inclined at an angle of 42 degrees. It is gravitationally interacting with nearby NGC 55.

Tragedia. Del griego τραγῳδία, o en su forma latina, tragoedĭa. La Canción de la Cabra. Un nombre casi cómico para referirse a una historia que en su desarrollo describe sucesos amargos y terribles que hacen caer en la desgracia a los protagonistas y que conducen a un final triste.
Este fin de semana, sin planearlo, acabé por ocupar mi escaso tiempo libre a lomos de la tragedia en la ficción. Elegí releer un libro que compré hace una década en algún aeropuerto del Reino Unido, una historia corta de la escritora catalana Maria Àngels Anglada, The Auschwitz Violin, sobre como la dignidad y la belleza consiguen hacer frente a la barbarie humana. Y por algún motivo, también decidí ver la conmovedora La Tumba de las Luciérnagas, película de animación dirigida por Isao Takahata y producida por los famosos estudios Ghibli sobre la novela del mismo título del escritor Akiyuki Nosaka, en la que se narra con toda crudeza el horror de la guerra y el padecimiento de la infancia y de los inocentes.
Ni que decir tiene que disfruté enormemente la belleza de estas historias. Y con la mente inundada de tragedia me sumergí en la meditación sin final y sin solución sobre la violencia y la condición humana. Pero reconociendo que mi tiempo con estas historias fue tiempo bien invertido, también me planteé qué tienen las historias trágicas que tan poderosamente llaman nuestra atención. ¿No sería más lógico que solo nos interesaran las historias divertidas?
Quizás las tragedias nos atraen porque de una forma u otra todos conocemos el dolor, y podemos ver nuestra propia historia en parte reflejada en la de los protagonistas y su sufrimiento. O quizás las historias trágicas hacen que relativicemos nuestro propio sufrimiento, que siempre podría ser mayor, o que sintamos que de alguna manera no somos los únicos que lo pasan mal. O podría ser que desde un punto de vista de la calidad del pensamiento, las narraciones trágicas nos transporten a un estado mental más trascendente, más conectado con la realidad, más reflexivo y maduro, con más potencial para mejorarnos como personas. Y, bueno, puestos a considerar opciones, quizás haya a quién le resulte estimulante el padecimiento ajeno, incluso de un personaje de ficción.
Sea como fuere, la tragedia forma parte del oficio de explicar historias, porque la tragedia forma parte de estar vivos, a veces porque el azar, el caos, los astros o dioses caprichosos nos la sirven en bandeja, a veces porque nosotros mismos nos la buscamos. Yo busqué la mía. Lo sé muy bien. Pero una característica de la tragedia es el final trágico, y ni mi historia ha terminado ni yo perdí la esperanza, porque jamás dejé de creer en mi Estrella.

Tragedy. From the Greek τραγῳδία, or in its Latin form, tragoedĭa. The Song of the Goat. A rather comical name to refer to a story that, in its development, describes bitter and terrible events that bring misfortune to the protagonists and lead to a sad ending.
This weekend, and totally unplanned, I ended up spending my scarce spare time immersed in tragic fiction. I chose to re-read a book I bought more than a decade ago at some airport in the United Kingdom, a short story by the Catalan writer Maria Àngels Anglada, The Auschwitz Violin, about how dignity and beauty manage to confront human barbarity. And for some reason, I also decided to watch the moving The Grave of the Fireflies, an animation film directed by Isao Takahata and produced by the famous Studio Ghibli, based on the novel of the same title by writer Akiyuki Nosaka, which brutally narrates the horror of war and the suffering it brings to children and the innocent.
Needless to say, I greatly enjoyed the beauty of these stories. With my mind flooded with tragedy, I delved into endless and unresolved meditation on violence and the human condition. But recognizing that my time with these stories was well spent, I also pondered what it is about tragic tales that so powerfully captivate our attention. Wouldn't it be more logical for us to be interested only in funny stories?
Perhaps tragedies are appealing because, in one way or another, we all know pain, and we can see our own story partly reflected in that of the protagonists and their suffering. Or perhaps tragic stories make our own suffering relative, because it could always be worse, or somehow they show that we are not alone going through a tough time. It could also be that, from the standpoint of the quality of thought, tragic narratives transport us to a mental state more transcendental, more connected with reality, more reflective and mature, with more potential to help us becoming better persons. And, well, for the sake of considering options, perhaps there are those who find the suffering of others stimulating, even if the others are fictional characters.
Either way, tragedy is part of the craft of storytelling because tragedy is part of life, sometimes because chance, chaos, the stars, or capricious Gods serve it to us on a platter, sometimes because we ourselves seek it out. I sought mine. I know it very well. But a characteristic feature of tragedy is the tragic ending, and neither my story has ended nor have I lost hope, because I never stopped believing in my Star.

Reconstructed bronze statues from the Quirinal in Rome of the so-called Terme Ruler
The two original Greek bronze statues reconstructed here were discovered on the Quirinal Hill of Rome in 1885 near the ancient Baths of Constantine and are now on display in the Palazzo Massimo alle Terme in Rome.
The figures’ identification and relationship to one another remains unresolved. One line of interpretation suggests that an important adventure from the Jason and the Argonaut saga is represented: the standing Polydeukes, son of Zeus, has defeated Amykos, son of Poseidon, in a boxing match and now urges him to refrain from murdering strangers with his deadly knuckles. Both statues display the swollen ears of a fighter.
Apparently I have some unresolved issues? No. Just trying to get creative for the macro Monday theme. I actually ended up destroying the whole disk. It was therapeutic doodling and carving patterns in the disk.
It was discovered on 5 August 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop. Located in the southern constellation Sculptor, NGC 300 measures 22 arc-minutes in apparent size and is only about 6 million light years distant. By comparison, M31 is 2.5 million, M33 2.73 million.
The spiral arms are full of young blue stars with H alpha regions interspersed throughout the galaxy. Although it appears to be face-on, it’s actually inclined at an angle of 42 degrees. It is gravitationally interacting with nearby NGC 55.
NGC 300 closely resembles M33. Both are replete with nebulae bright in Ha and OIII, both are similarly inclined spirals and both produce large numbers of unresolved stars that look like noise.
