...selfie reflecting in the eye of a small Eastern Ribbon Snake as it poses for its 'close-up.' It was watching me pass by from under some leaves just off the trail.

When I photographed the little chicks I was very lucky that one parent just came back with food. An unplanned scene that made me very happy.

"Unwritten"

I am unwritten, can't read my mind

I'm undefined

I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand

Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you

Open up the dirty window

Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance

So close you can almost taste it

Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin

No one else can feel it for you

Only you can let it in

No one else, no one else

Can speak the words on your lips

Drench yourself in words unspoken

Live your life with arms wide open

Today is where your book begins

The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition, sometimes my tries

Are outside the line

We've been conditioned to not make mistakes

But I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you

Open up the dirty window

Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance

So close you can almost taste it

Release your inhibitions

This photo is an unplanned snapshot which luckily works for this week's Happy Caturday theme "Up". I opened the kitchen window, looked down into the garden and there was Tofu looking up at me with his big blue eyes. The camera was nearby and I managed to take this photo before he was distracted (see photo in the comments).

Happy Caturday !

Original is a shot of orange dailyness against a white wall. My plan was to layer the shots to tone down the white wall, and then erase the rest of the duplicate. But, you never know what you'll get with layering an image over itself. This time, I flipped my shot (horizontally, but it works vertically, too), then I layered the flipped shot over the original at about 50%. Sometimes, it's nothing, but often a nice abstract results. And close to St. Pat's Day, I guess you get a leprechaun - totally unplanned. lol! Happy sliding serendipity!

This is my lovely Madge, mother to three strapping Lesser Tenrec babies. This was totally unplanned but totally charming when she opened the miniature tea pot. I forgot she likes to climb and I'm guessing she thought there were goodies inside the tea pot (there weren't!)

To those meeting this incredible exotic breed for the first time, they are not hedgehogs. My image was recently thrown out of a group because they thought she was a hedgehog!!! She is a Lesser Tenrec. The breed are 75% smaller than the British hedgehog and are completely unrelated. Genetically they are more closely related to the elephant.

Madge is the biggest of my lesser tenrecs and fits comfortably on my hand. She does not like to sit still for long and is not great with my camera.

Please feel free to visit my Flickr albums of my Lesser Tenrecs. I have 6 of these gorgeous beauties now and I occasionally take photos of them in Spring and Summer before they sleep (torpor) for the winter.

This was an unplanned snapshot. I had already taken the photo of Cleo for the Happy Caturday theme "Cats with Friends" but then I saw Tofu kissing the hedgehog on the windowsill outside the living room window. Seems that he also wants to be part of Happy Caturday this week. :)

We made a unplanned stop at Yellowstone on our way home from Washington. There was a quick snowstorm while we were there and it turned into a beautiful winter wonderland. Especially now with the flooding I feel blessed that we stopped. It may be years before we get to go back. This may be my favorite shot of the trip.

It's often the unplanned photos that turn out the best.

On the way back from an unsuccessful search for mushrooms, I noticed this group of trees in a beautiful autumn robe. If only the sun would add its light, I thought to myself. As if someone had heard my thoughts, the cloud cover opened up and created my most beautiful autumn motif so far this year.

Yesterday we arrived in Florence. On our first day in a new place, we always take an unplanned stroll through the city centre. We also walked across Piazza Santa Croce, where this picture was taken.

Shortly after my husband added soil from his compost pile to my flower garden beds this spring, I started seeing little tomato plants sprouting up amongst my summer flowers! I left a few in to see if they would flower and bear fruit and to my greatest delight they did!

See my "About" page on Flickr for the link to support my efforts... just the price of a cup of coffee is appreciated. Thank you. www.flickr.com/people/jax_chile/

Orange Lilies - Santa Gemita - Laowa 65mm - Nov 22 2022 - Enhanced

Another experiment using a Brickstuff lighting kit.

What better place to welcome the returned Sigma lens than Wentworth Falls. After it's unplanned wash in a Kiwi creek it was pronounced "fine" by the techs at CR Kennedy.

Look carefully and you will see me, sitting on a chair behind my tripod, focusing on this chipmunk. I've taken many shots of chipmunks. This one captured me!

The first time that we drove through Gonneville-sur-Mer it was unplanned but we saw some wonderful buildings as we passed through and decided we would return and have a proper look. It is a small village but it seems to contain a host of beautiful Normandy farmhouses . Unlike at Beuvron-en-Auge there is no indication that it is visited much by tourists there are no shops or cafes and it is all the better for that .

Just one word of warning if you visit Gonneville-sur-Mer do not expect to see the sea . Not sure why it has added “sur Mer “ to its name , the sea is about ten miles away

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO

Sunrise from South Bay Scarborough whilst on holiday this last week, unplanned morning out but seagulls woke me so took a chance there would be a nice sunrise

Taken at the weekend from an unplanned visit with the girl, I had a couple of hours to lose so I wondered the shoreline on a low tide, something I've not done here before and I didnt think I'd capture much! especaily shooting back into the land so to speak. I used a 10 stop and 2 stop IRND Lee filter to get the 3 minute exposure.

While doing a day of unplanned wandering I came across this beautifully preserved late 19th century building that beckons back to the days when the upper classes spent their holidays along the Jersey shore. So in the area that borders Ashbury Park and Neptune there is a small historical district. There were other buildings but road traffic and parked vehicles made it not feasible to photograph them.

This shot of the beautiful Alison Sparx was completely unplanned to be a real photo. I just wanted her to sit for a second to try out a lighting thing....and six minutes later I had this. Lucky to have a friend who can make anything look good through no effort of my own!

On an unplanned trip, I stumbled across the iconic location. I will be back in better light. It is a beautiful and often photographed spot.

Woke for the toiled at 3:55 am, looked out window, cloud looked nice, was at closest beach within 10 mins of getting ready and got this 102 second shot

Unplanned wakefulness at 4:40 am and I'm headed to the beach to wait for the big show. This lasted about 3 minutes, then all the color faded from the sky. Thanks, universe! :D

Tropical scene, in the middle of nowhere, Jamaica. A day photo for once, this was an unplanned stop along the road, there are so few roadside parking places along Jamaican roads, this seemed to be a good place for a break in the drive between places.

A unplanned coincidence during a photowalk. The model himself is a photographer and his work can be found on insta @lalumiereduloup

We are back after a short unplanned abscence. I had no internet connection for more than two days and after the provider said that everything was okay on their end I spent most of yesterday and today to find out what was blocking my internet access. Obviously it works for now and I hope that I have eliminated the error.

It's getting warmer and warmer here again and that makes taking photos of Linus quite difficult. He spends his days somewhere in the shade or indoors .... but he still talks, so everything is okay.

An unplanned shot while I was setting up my camera for a sunrise on the island of Kos I turned to see my buddy Andy patiently waiting and taking in the beautiful pre-dawn light....the sky as you see had an amazing band of purple pink and orange....thanks Andy for keeping still for 3 seconds an amazing feat on its own....oh and if you are wandering what Andy has on his ear its a piece of basil (apparently it keeps the mosquitos away.

Windswept and catching the last rays of the afternoon sun. In a 'wild' corner of the garden. Shot wide-open.

One of my favourite views in the park during an unplanned trip into the mountains

Sometimes unplanned shoot may resemble something that you weren't expecting. After going through several of the shots this one caught my attention as it resembled the lion king.

My hefty 135mm lens is far from ideal for little subjects like bees, but when you're looking at flowers and a bee lands on one, what can you do? My camera clicked before I knew it. :)

I was in the National Trust gardens at Nymans yesterday. It was really too hot for me, but I love to see this Sicilian honey garlic in flower. It seems the bees love it too. I may have been hot there yesterday, but it's been far worse today and there's more to come. I have a feeling I may stay home tomorrow and drink a lot of iced coffee. :)

Continuing with a mostly unplanned set of late season migratory birds. This female American Redstart posed jauntily on my garden fence in mid-August. Apparently the old wood is a great place to hunt tiny insects. Off and on for a couple weeks that part of my yard - which also has a few trees and shrubs - was a-hopping with warblers, sparrows, vireos, and other species that stop in our tiny prairie village on their way south.

if, after reading my intro, you'd like to see how Flo is getting on, her new adopted family have opened up a stream here for Rob and I to enjoy: [https://www.flickr.com/photos/192292535@N03]

I was planning to share something else a bit more obscure now, but I just heard from her new family how she's doing.. and it's great and made me cry.

Bess is now Flow. Her new name.

Pete and Lilly, and half an hour later their full-of-beans-n-good-natured German Shepherd Kumar, and (Kelpi?) Perro, all met up with Bess a few days ago.

Ever since her first lead training day, my ignorant prejudices of Bess vaporised. She has fantastic eye contact, if you know how to get it. You know, if you get on her wavelength she'll follow you to the ends of the earth. Look into her eyes...

[ i have in my mind the memory of her in the front of their van being gently cuddled and subtly entertained by Lilly, lit in the dark by the downlight of their courtesy light, as they all reversed out of Rob's drive to their new life ]

Long story cut short for now, she or we could not have hoped for a better life for her than with her new family.

Rob knew it, as did I, when we met Pete, Lllly and their dogs.

Happy :-)

A few unplanned days back in Scotland to try and see the Northern Lights.

Sadly we didn't see them but we still had a great time.

An unplanned trip but still had opportunity to catch a sliver moon at the Devil's Tower in Wyoming.

I know your going to ask ....No, I did not see any alien space ships that night!

This was pretty much an unplanned sunrise. Woke up at 3.30am so got ready to go out but kept thinking it's going to be a waste of time and I should go back to bed. Decided to go in the end even if I didn't expect to take any decent shots. Was at the location from 4am, had to wait an hour for the sunrise which never happened. I was about to pack my stuff and head back when the whole sky burst with colour. What a beautifl morning it was! And I had the whole place for myself, seems all the other photographers went back to bed when they saw the sky that morning.

Just back from a week in Glencoe, an unplanned trip I was invited to join at the last minute. Having injured my back in the summer, I'm still limited to a small compact camera. But after being stuck at home for weeks during the early stages of my recovery, I decided this was just what the doctor ordered. As often in the mountains, bad weather typically makes for good photography. You just have to layer up and get out.

26 August was the first day of my unplanned break

We were sitting in Kingswood Railway Station and waiting for the train to London where my company had organised a place where to stay next 10 days. We were a bit upset and very quiet and then I noticed something white under our bench. It was a very tiny dog. I looked around, we were the only passengers.

"Take him!" said Leo I

"I really don't know..We already have Ed, a Little Bagpiper Bear from Edinburgh, Al, a Black Bear from Alaska and Shaun the Sheep given by Old Gentleman who was their previous owner."

"He can live in a pocket with an Angel, he is so tiny and wouldn't take a big space" said Leo II

I saw a train approaching and asked a Dog:

"Would you like to come with us?"

Dog just jumped into my handbag and the last I heard was Angel's voice:

"Welcome sweetheart! I always wanted a Dog!"

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

To me to find this tiny Dog in first minutes of my unplanned break was a Great Sign. because (this from the Internet)

Dogs represent loyalty, protection and good fortune. Dogs are considered to enhance positivity and good fortune around you, besides giving out protective positive vibes. The Chinese often place a pair of dog statues, called Fu, at the entrance of their homes for protection and safety.

And believe or not I had the most beautiful 10 days in London...
