Thanks to all who expressed their encouragement about my medical issues. Actually, after 12 years, the last 2 1/2 during which I was consistently yapped at by my doctors to do so, I finally had my defibrillator replaced. So it was more of a mechanical adjustment than anything. Nevertheless, I appreciate your thoughts.
Sincerely,
I, Robot
Red squirrels always bring drama to their lives. These two are busy chasing each other away from the peanuts which leaves the bluejay quite happy to enjoy the treat by himself.

The section of the bowl you see here is about 2" each way.

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Today I will walk out, today everything unnecessary will leave me, I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body. I will have a light body, I will be happy forever, nothing will hinder me.
In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
My words will be beautiful.

It all starts with a blank page. A page that we tend to memorize every bump, lines, size and plenty more unnecessary details that would not be of any use while we procrastinate on what to write, draw, sketch or doodle?
She huffed while leaning into the wooden table, adjusting herself into the chair more comfortably. Her brows furrowed with concentration as she lifted her pen across the page just so close to write something. The fresh ink happily dissolving into the fine paper when suddenly a screech distracted her and before she knew it, they invaded her foundation. Why was she even surprised?
Receiving licks from 'Present' who was always so needy and went as far as to climb over her arm to reach her face. 'Change' was nearby, grunting towards her, giving her those sweet eyes that she noticed and sighed, reaching to scratch his ear, "Soon, soon!" she exclaimed. 'Past' was just chilling in a corner, in her own world, tongue out, tail wagging and quite content for now not to be disturbed. Meanwhile, 'Future' was digging around and sniffing everything on the table. What was the little fluffer up to this time?
P.S. Thankkk youu my Master Ms. Yoda for the fluffy cuddable Foxies! Aren't they just the best?

“A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.” -Carl Reiner
I happen to be one of those people who like snow...and ice. When the temperatures were colder last week, I played around with frozen soap bubbles in my backyard. What a disappointment when the temperatures got warmer before I could perfect my techniques! But I am ready for the next cold snap. Meanwhile, I have some amazing icicles growing in my yard now and I took time to shoot a few of those again with different results than last time. The bay is slowly icing up and these birches I posted last week are now surrounded by these interesting ice "skirts". This spot has actually become a hot spot for local photographers. It is interesting to see each person's interpretation of the scene. We each have our own "view" of a very cold landscape.
I don't like my mind right now
Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary
Wish that I could slow things down
I wanna let go but there's comfort in the panic
And I drive myself crazy
Thinking everything's about me
Yeah I drive myself crazy
'Cause I can't escape the gravity
I'm holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
To so much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
I'm holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
To so much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
To so much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?

The Rufous Hummingbird hovered before the purple foxglove, drawn by color and promise. He wasn’t invited, but nectar rarely says no.
He dipped his bill, took a sip, and left, pleased with himself, as if he’d just done something useful.
The foxglove didn’t mind. She was waiting for bees, the dependable sort who show up covered in pollen and purpose.
The hummingbird, meanwhile, was already off to his next appointment with admiration.
Moral: Not every visitor helps, but some look good doing it.
Couplet:
He came for nectar, not for need,
A thief of sweetness, not of seed.
Epilogue:
Nature makes no moral judgments. The flower gets attention, the bird gets fed, and both pretend it was meant to be.
It wasn't

Also sometimes known as the Yellow-billed Blue Finch, a rather unnecessarily long name, this Cerrado endemic is almost confined to Brazil, where it ranges from the state of Maranhão in the north as far south as Sao Paulo, albeit always being a local and uncommon bird, with a small extension of its range into eastern Bolivia. Blue Finches inhabit open grassy cerrados and the species is undoubtedly declining due to the widespread and virtually unchecked conversion, degradation, and fragmentation of such grasslands due to agricultural expansion. Conservation Status - Currently considered Near Threatened. doi.org/10.2173/bow.blufin1.01.1

I have to say I found this stag a little bit rude; I was only trying to take a picture or two... :-)

Sometimes I make unnecessary extra work for myself , as has been the case today and yesterday.
I thought I would force myself to have another go at conquering Layers in my PSP. Looked at videos first, but got fed up having to stop and start to make notes every couple of seconds.
Decided it would be easier to find written tutorial to print out , but that was no good either. I always find when following instructions that my screen layouts, lists and icons never seem to exactly match theirs and I'm left floundering and frustrated [ I thought I was doing this for relaxation and fun]....
Gave up on that and decided it might be easier to use a texture overlay , or underlay. So I took some shots of my own 'bokeh' effects plus several separate shots of a mini cup [ Just over 1" tall]
and saucer to amalgamate.
Well, I got myself in the same sort of mess with that too, so I abandoned ship .
Talk about fed up! What I need is a real person showing me what to do .... but alas that is highly unlikely ever to happen. [No suggestions about joining a camera club, classes etc please]
I've decided it's easier for me to do as much as I can with the actual camera after all - and it was much more relaxing and fun too. I'd rather fiddle around with f numbers, depth of field, lighting etc ...
But I keep seeing the lovely work that other photographers post here and oh how I hanker after doing more creative stuff with Layers and Textures. Ha ha - the grass is always greener I s'pose!
Are dogmas unnecessary?
The adequacy of dogmas depends on whether they claim to formulate or to allude; in the first case they flaunt and fail, in the second they indicate and illumine. To be adequate they must retain a telescopic relation to the theme in which they refer, must point to the mysteries of God rather than picture them. All they can do is indicate a way, not mark and end, of thinking. Unless they serve as humble signposts on the way dogmas are obstacles...
...Unless we realize that dogmas are tentative rather then final, that they are accommodations rather than definitions, intimations rather than descriptions; unless we learn how to share the moment and the insight to which they are trying to testify, we stand guilty of literalmindedness, of pretending to know what cannot be put into words; we are guilty of intellectual idolatry. The indispensable function of the dogmas is to make it possible to rise above them.

Look at that sassy little Binx. He was on my lap before this picture was taken but was booted to his own seat after an unnecessary biting. Haha. I am not sure he likes all the Christmas festivities. Grinch Binx?

The King's Head is an attractive, diminutive pub, just off the main shopping street of Stamford. The left hand side - where the small bar is situated - is more for vertical drinking, while the right hand side finds seating for about 25 people. An impressive wood burner kept things very toasty for those present on our bitterly cold Saturday night visit, while the above average choice of ales and wines provided suitable liquid refreshment. The decor is vaguely contemporary, but not unnecessarily so and the lighting made the place feel cosy. Stamford has a number of very good pubs, but the King's Arms can be assured of their place amongst them.
No need to use it, with the natural sunset light around.
Something seen yesterday at a Flickr meeting in Carrasqueira. I really like this one.
