We finally made it home at 11:00 p.m. on September 1st. The next morning the remnants of Ernesto were moving in, so we had to rig up a sketchily-anchored tarp to keep dry.

Our sleeper carriage from Nukus to Saratov was loaded up with produce for much of the journey. It was all unloaded at a stop in Kazakhstan. We thought it smelled interesting when we got on. Lots of apricots.
