While driving back home from a hike I decided to make a quick detour to Mt Rubidoux in Riverside CA. It was the best decision I made that day. The sun started breaking through the clouds and man was it epic!

The horsetail fall this Feburary is probably the biggest event in photography community in North America, two attempts were made in previous years to shoot this epic phenomeon without success due to CA drought. But this year is special, the storm and melted snow have created huge amount of water to make this possible.
Two trips into the park were made to finally capture this at the best sun angle/water/cloud situation on 2/22 according to Aaron Meyers's blog goo.gl/86kkMI which was written based on a computer program he created to predict the best days (thanks Aaron! ).
Day 1 2/19--Tried at the South side drive spot, too many cloud and only yellow light. Didn't want to settle for that.
Day 2 2/20---Cloud was thick so I went to shoot full moon and night sky instead, but managed to get a pic from the car when the cloud broke last minute. But the light was still not good enough. Despite the yellow glow, this is considered not ready. I read that, when it's ready, as the minutes go by beyond this the column of light closes more narrow, and the color continues to greatly intensify into a lava gold, bright orange, bright red and finished with a deep dark red.
Day 3 2/21---Dedicated the whole day shooting nothing else but sunrise at Tunnel View and to hog a spot from 9 am, our car was one of the first few at the El Capitan picnic area but it turned out to be a disappointment as cloud rolled in last half an hour during sunset.
Day 4 2/22---Peak of the firefall based on Aaron's calculation, most snow from Thurs storm melted so it would be the prime day. At first we thought about climbing up the mountain on the 4.8 miles 3200 elevation Four Mile Trail for a unique wide angle shot but decided against it due to time constraints. All the prime spots on dry land were taken by people who waited there since 6 am, so we decided on a spot down the river that require some climbing down. After one hour in cold water, the light of triumph! The water on El Capitan ran down with such speed and passion, like a horse out of the gate, bird sets free as if it was held back forever. After about 10 minutes, the earth returned to peace.
The whole thing is a result of seamless teamwork and carefully planned operation. I think I will remember this special trip for a very long time, and it’s not just because of the best Yosemite Firefall in 6 years either.

It's Sugar Beet harvesting season at the moment, and lots of trucks are needed including E.W Bell's KM03DEM, a Scania 164L-580 V8 6x2 which is now in its 20th year.
Seen earlier today leaving Wissington processing plant.
Playing around with character designs using the new Aii Extra Arms as well as my Fallen Gods Anubis skin.
