Hope everyone had or is having a great weekend. Putting all these coastal shot up is making me want to make a run to the beach ..;)

Bloodroot blooms in the early spring with a beautiful blossom having white petals and many golden-yellow stamens. Very common native woodlot wildflower.

An American Kestrel hiding in the solid superstructure of a power pole. It appears to be patiently waiting for an adventuring Vole, the favorite food source of this tiny (100g) and colorful falcon.

Although I've seen several this season, Kestrels are considered uncommon to rare.

Galveston, Texas' Historic Pleasure Pier on a cold November morning.

The water has to be the right depth for this type of view - the terrain is exposed just the right amount while still leaving enough water for reflections.

Delicate Meadow Garlic flowers from a patch located near Hubbard Pond. A common native plant.

Breeds in Alaska and most spend their winters south of the equator. A few are locally common on Oahu where this bird was photographed. The cinnamon colored-rump distinguishes it from the very similar looking Whimbrel.

BNSF 3181 works the limestone caverns that provide a constant temperature for storing various commodities. From what I understand there are over 3 miles of trackage underground at this location. Pretty neat operation.

ARR 3002 pops out of the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel and into Whittier, gateway to Prince William Sound. The tunnel is a shared road/rail tunnel. you can see vehicles lined up to the right that will traverse the tunnel after the freight. There is a basic time schedule, vehicles travel into Whittier on the hour, out of Whittier on the half hour and trains use 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour to traverse in either direction.

You travel so many miles on your own just to experience this incredible and unique moment... In the Wasburn Route in Yosemite I found all these American photographers waiting for it to appear... and suddenly one of them shouts... “there it is...!” and its magical silver tones flooded the whole valley. The super moon was there, raising up, remembering us how small we are, how unique our world is.

I remember the really strong emotions I felt, truly a once a lifetime moment.
