Captured with a Minolta Dynax 700si on AgfaPhoto APX 100 film, this black-and-white image presents the Reinhold-Maier-Tower in Boertlingen. The green-and-white striped structure, resembling a lighthouse, is a repurposed nearly 100-year-old pendulum tower of the state water supply, now serving as an observation tower. Standing tall against a textured sky, its bold pattern contrasts with the surrounding landscape. A bare tree frames the right side, adding a touch of quiet solitude, while the adjacent building grounds the scene in a sense of place. The image evokes both clarity and nostalgia, blending architectural precision with an atmospheric stillness.

Off the top of the northwest coast of the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland there is one of the best sheltered harbours on this rocky, inhospitable coast, called Flower's Cove. It was name by Captain James Cook, on his 1764 mapping expedition, for the water breaking over the numerous offshore rocks that seamen called 'flowers' in the old days (Fiore D'Aqua).
The harbour was used for boats partaking in the rich cod and seal fishery, both now long gone. In 1877 a lighthouse was built on an offshore island, Flower's Island to warn boats of the Flower's Ledge navigation hazard, and shortly after a radio beacon was also installed on the island. Both were decommissioned in 1968 but the old buildings remain, and I saw a few sheep there that were taken over to graze on the island.

Two recent, interesting acquisitions. Not sure how many cameras in my collection, but, I don't collect for monetary value. Rather, I chose well used, interesting looking, sometimes quirky cameras. Cameras that were clearly used, and enjoyed by someone in the past. These are two of four that I recently shot.

* I designed this Sugar Bag with insuline dependant diabetics in mind. It has no less than ten (!) pockets inside, to carry along insuline pens, needles, bloodsugar measuring device, lancets and test strips, notebook and pen, tissues, etc.
But then again, you don’t need insuline dependant diabetes to enjoy a bag like this, with this many pockets...
The bag is made out of faux suede and faux leather. It gets its sturdiness from a 3mm thick felt layer between the outside and inside fabric.
* Ik heb deze Sugar Bag (Suiker Tas) ontworpen met insuline-afhankelijke suikerzieken in gedachten. De tas heeft niet minder dan tien (!) binnenzakken, om er insuline pennen, naalden, bloedsuiker meetapparaat, lancetjes en teststrips, notitieboekje en pen, tissues, etc. in mee te nemen.
Maar je hoeft natuurlijk geen insuline afhankelijke diabeet te zijn om van een tas als deze, met zoveel zakken, te genieten.

By far the coolest place in America I have yet to visit....I could photograph this park for Days if not weeks on end....as the light changes the entire place takes on a new look......

Six Men's Bay, Barbados - January 2025: A pink fishing boat is positioned on the ground in front of charming wooden houses. The warm evening light highlights the unique architecture under a partly cloudy sky in a tropical location.
The houses on the background are "Chattel houses", it is a Barbadian term for a small moveable wooden house that working-class people would occupy. The term goes back to the plantation days when the home owners would buy houses designed to move from one property to another. The word "chattel" means movable property.
The location is a Bajan (Barbadian) fisherman village situated on the west coastline of the island, on the Caribbean Sea.
