Union Railroad caboose C-103 is on the rear end of empty coke racks, returning to US Steel's Clairton Coke Works to be reloaded with more coke, continuing the steel making cycle. Lazy, hot summer day in 2022.
Union Terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio has a significant amount of history behind it. Its Art Deco halls have hosted everything from trains, to movie theaters, to a department store. It's now home to several prominent museums on its lower floors. Its interior dome is one of the largest in the world.
I stood all the way in one of the corners of the lobby and took about twenty photos to create this panoramic view including the terminal's concentric ceiling.

Union Pacific SD70AH #9024 heads across Salt Creek as it leaves Ruby Canyon behind and pulls the grade towards Mack, CO.
It is leading an Eastbound loaded Oil train that originated on the Utah Railway at Wildcat, UT and is heading to St. James, LA.
The train is still exiting out of Ruby Tunnel and beyond that in the background can be seen a string of empty coal cars (and 1 sand car) that are stored in Ruby Siding.
The old right of way with the pole line still following can also be seen to the left of the train.

March 11, 2023: Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Opened in May 1939, Union Station consolated the Los Angeles operations of the Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Santa Fe railroads into one terminal. The "Last of the Great Railroad Stations" building saw heavy use during World War II. But in the 1950s, air and auto travel competition significantly reduced the public's use of Union Station.
15,000 feet of both international and domestic stacks struggle into Union Point, GA. Honoring Our Law Enforcement ES44AH #3194 is leading the train (Q197-07) up the Georgia (Road) Subdivision, running significantly late, as this train would normally be through here around 10PM.

This Union Pacific locomotive sits patiently in the tune up shed as darkness falls. Her mighty power is silenced for now and she posed so perfectly for us. What more could I ask for as I was heading home and thought I was finished shooting. I'm not sure why there is a red light on in the cab unless it is a special beauty light just for us. If that's not the case please don't tell.
Yes, it's a 6 shot HDR, all raw, In Lightroom. All of the lights were crazy bright and this tamed it down to get some attention on the big boy. Another approach would have been to shoot a single frame and let the highlights go into bright star bursts and that would be cool.
