Apologies for the lack of updates guys. Took some time to recover from a surgery and get my ducks back in a row. A single update this time around but hope to have much more to show soon...
7.10 Sculpt update to the Unidentified Greasy Creature - 1:18 scale - Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
My previous update was on the completed head sculpts, and the beginnings to the body build.
I have finished sculpting both hands, allowing one to be a trigger hand for holding a pistol. The hand sculpt can also hold a vibroblade which appeared to be his main weapon on the show. Still, it’s good that the guy can hold a pistol if needed. He’s a pirate after all.
Started sculpting the boots. The right boot is close to completion with several more details and weathering to be added. The rocker joint works freely under the sheath of the booth leading up to the lower knee. From there, it’s held by a strong magnet. So not bad articulation for a chunky boot sculpt!
The fabric is going to be a mix of sculptural and soft goods. Or maybe all sculptural…don’t know yet. I DO KNOW that the undershirt Greasy is sporting will be sculpted on. I already have the shoulders sculpted.
The apparatus around Greasy’s belly is a build of several layers. The first layer has been applied but I will thin it out a bit before building upon it. This was going to be a removable piece using magnets but after some thought I couldn’t find a reason for it to be a removable piece. It will be applied to some flexible plastic to have some give but mostly a static part of the figure.
23 points of articulation so far. Not SUPER articulation but it’s no tin man LOL!
More updates coming for this guy but I have other projects that need my attention as well. Expect those to be coming soon.
If you took time to read this I appreciate your continued interest in my work and my methodology. It’s a personal love letter to the scale and to action figures in general. It’s a corner of the world where I find solace and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. I’ve noticed a drop off in interest in my work since I’m not 3D printing everything and selling it all on Etsy. Seems that’s the trend of the hobby these days and traditional sculptors are being left behind. That’s ok, I get it. I am acquiring my first 3D printer later today and it will be awhile before I produce anything of my own while I learn the software but no matter what I learn, it will never take the place of working with my hands and the wonderful imperfections that come with it.
Anyway, more to come!

5-31 - Variant head sculpts for the Unidentified Greasy Creature and the modified sculpt for Saw Gerrera.
1:18 scale. Casts made from Smooth-On products, sculpt using Aves Clay FIXIT Sculpt.
I’ve finished the alternate head sculpts for the Unidentified Greasy Creature, one with the mouth closed and the other showing his “War Face”.
The shots you see here are the sculpts that are set up in the mold boxes. I meant to shoot them beforehand but my excitement to get these molded got the best of me.
One a side note, do any of you who mold and cast feel like Christmas morning when you can pull clean castings from your new molds? Perhaps it’s just me. LOL!
Also modified an existing cast of the Forest Whitaker sculpt to create Saw Gerrera from Andor, Season 1.
I used scoring and dental tools to accent the facial features and scars, Aves FIXIT for the head and facial hair.
I want to do an alternate sculpt of Saw’s “crazy face” Also want to create a head sculpt version of Saw from Andor: Season 2 - A bit more war weary and crazier hair.
One more thing I need to fix…The Saw Gerrera head sculpt is a bit too large for the body frame. So I will need to reduce it by 10- 15%. Will try the ol’ mineral spirits trick. Worked for me before so crossing my fingers.
Thanks for checking out the update. I’m setting up a new ALIEN 79 Nostromo corridor wall so expect some updates on that build soon.
More to come!

3.10 - Sculpt update on the “Unidentified Greasy Creature” as it was named in the end credits for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
1:18 scale. Hand sculpted. Aves FIXIT Sculpt.
Greasy’s head is close to completion. I have many little details to fill in as you can see in the photos.
The body is up next and I will begin by working on the upper torso.
Looking at the source images, not much is seen of the shoulders. I may sculpt texture but nothing else. The details can be seen on the upper and lower arms. The upper chest is covered and the lower belly is exposed.
Sculpting hands as well.
That head sculpt is going to be a bitch to mold and replicate…but that is for another update.
More to come!

3.1 - Sculpt update on the “Unidentified Greasy Creature” as it was named in the end credits for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
1:18 scale. Hand sculpted. Aves FIXIT Sculpt.
I began sculpting the sides of the creatures head earlier this past week.
Currently, I am adding the details to each side before going to the back of the head.
Most of the new images concentrate on the one side I have made the most progress on detail wise.
Loads more detail to add! I am really looking forward to working on the body soon.
I will be sculpting new hands for this creature…hands similar to the Gamorrean Guard hands in ROTJ.
More to come! Including a HUMANOID character from the Andor series.
Thanks for checking out the update!

6.23 - Plastic casting success of the variant head sculpts for the Unidentified Greasy Creature and the shrunken head sculpt for Saw Gerrera.
1:18 scale. Molds and casts made using Smooth-On products.
For the Unidentified Greasy Creature from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, I sculpted two other variant head sculpts for my last update.
Those have since had molds made and the image below shows the successful castings of all three versions.
I am having to do a bit of epoxy fill where air got trapped in some places. I wasn’t so lucky with the other two molds like I was with the original but that’s alright. It’s no go deal to me.
Now that the head sculpts are down, I am moving forward with the body sculpt and I’ll have updates on that here soon.
For Saw Gerrera - I revealed the final head sculpt in the last update. His likeness is based on his appearance in Andor Season 1.
Unfortunately, the head sculpt I created was too big for the body. I got so into the sculpt I failed to realize the size was way off.
Fortunately, the mineral spirits trick came through for me and I was able to reduce the mold enough to cast a proper 1:18 scaled version.
The image shows the original, modified sculpt of Forest Whitaker as Gerrera and the reduced cast at the correct scale. You can see how far off I really was.
Perhaps sculpting likenesses at a larger scale then reducing might be a thing in the future in certain circumstances…It really wasn’t difficult. Just had to fiddle with a proper ratio of silicone to mineral spirits to get the correct reduction in size. I went through two molds before I finally got the right size.
So similar to “Greasy”, now that I have the head sculpt done, time to get on sculpting the body!
Plenty more updates coming! Including existing projects along with more from the Nostromo, Alien and Narcissus Shuttle.
Thanks for your continued interest in my work!!!
