A pre-Christmas visit to in-laws and a long circuitous drive across the Yorkshire Moors to get there. Arrived a little early so scribbled in the car before I went in. Then 10 more scribbled minutes afterwards before I drove off, anxious to make a start before darkness hit. Finished it with another 20 minutes back home from memory, while it was all fresh in my mind.
As seen from my backdoor stoop towards the backyard. It's autumn, but with a lot of watering, the color of summer hangs on. Mounds of marigolds are at their peak. October 3, 2021

I've had a love affair with zinnias ever since I planted them in my community garden plot in Minneapolis 41 years ago. Drawing them from direct observation has become a bit of an obsession, too. All those petals! #inktober2019 Day 13

On Sunday I was at an Urban Sketchers meeting in Munich and found this great angle. Difficult to draw with my head in the neck but I think it was worth it. Watercolor, Faber Castell pigment liner, white uniball Signo in a Stillman & Birn, Delta Sketchbook.
Inktober 2017 day 8 …theme..Crooked…title, Old Farm Truck…for few years this old farm truck sat in the back field looking forlorn and crooked. I liked its’ quaint old timey farm look …being crooked was “in” for me. Now that it is gone I miss it. Trying out five different types of inks was not a bad idea for me to see what would happen……DeArtramentis Coffee ink, Faber Castell Sepia ink pen set, Dr P H Martin’s Hydrus watercolor inks and Uniball Signo white and black inks. ….
I was practising with my new-found pen which is like the best pen ever (uniball signo UM-151), it's magic or something, and I have wanted to draw this old pub in Highgate (it's from a photo) whihc was on the end of the street where I used to live (Hornsey Lane; wish I lived there again sometimes, lots to draw around there). Drawn during my lunchbreak in my regular moleskine (started in 2006, but hardly ever used because I could not find a pen that really liked using it...until now!!!)
