This was my first real photo shoot with a real male model. I was super nervous and didn't know how I was going to act, didn't know how to pose him. It was very scary but once I met him he was very nice and understanding and just let me do my thing! Plus he posed himself which made it a lot more easier for me! I hope you say he looks like James Dean here, that's what he wanted.
Walk into a Bar.... Understanding Philosophy through jokes.
Boarding the hydrofoil from Hydra to Piraeus yesterday afternoon, I was introduced to Dan Klein, co-author of this book on my shelf in Athens. One does meet the most extraordinary people on the island of Hydra.
The current images I am showing now here on Flickr, are Collaboration's with my son A.J. He is 8 years old. We make all the images in the camera first, then I work on them in photoshop to find the best parts from several images to make the finale composition. All the images start from motion and movement of toys and other objects that my son has. A.J. is very unique. He has a way of helping me to see things in people and in the surroundings of my life in a newer way then ever. He inspires me to work harder in understanding my life in art, photography, people, spiritual things, and so much more...
I believe A.J. came in to my life to change every thing I understand about life. AJ was born Dec. 17, 1998 at 36 weeks gestation. He weighed 3.7lbs. He is a kid of special needs. He was born with broken femurs although he was born by cesarean. He has scoliosis of the back. His legs do not move and his right arm is flacid, the left arm has limited range of motion. He eats by a "G" tube in his tummy and can't swallow. He has a tracheotomy in his neck to breath through SIMV, a ventilation device to assist with his breathing. He’s extremely nearsighted and what he truly sees we just don’t really know. Most would describe A.J as a quadriplegic. He cannot speak. AJ is a wonderful inspiration to my wife and family and we are very honored and thankful to be his parents.
OK now you are asking your self or me how a kid like A.J. Collaborates with me. he likes light and lights that move. toys that fly over his bed. he has a large mobil near his bed that we have hung toys on all his life. one day many years a go I was doing my normal daddy thing doing a photo of him and I found that the toys looked cool in the photo. I began to experiment on how to have more fun looking at this toy thing that happened. I wonted to controll it more but I did one thing I made a rule that he must be a part of it as much as I could help him to be. it was his stuff that cot my eye. now that mobil of his is run by a switch that he pushes on or off. it dose not seem like much to some but it is his part and all he can do. so I don't know which way it might turn. the shutter speeds are long and some times I move the camera or hold it still. A.J. adds all the magic to it and he is the true energy. yes I did try many shots that he was not part of but when I have done this it is just not as wow as when he and I work as a team. it is a fun way to play with him and be a bigger part of his life. I show him the photos in the back of the camera after we do a few, or from a lap top. he just looks. I don't know if he likes them or not but I do. I get a lot of joy from working with him like this. it is one of the only things I feel that I can truely look in to his secret world by. we have ben doing this for several years now. and I have built a large collection of cool images to share with you doing this part is a new thing for use to do. I hope you have fun looking at the images we have here. we have only printed a few on paper so far. this art is the first of extreme abstract art I have realy began to enjoy.

Shama Bhate (Pune) - Kathak - 23 October 2010 (Saturday)
Shama Bhate brings to her dance a holistic understanding of the Kathak tradition. A disciple of Guru Smt Rohini Bhate, she was blessed with special insight from her close association with Pt Mohanrao Kallianpurkar and, later, with Kathak maestro Pt Birju Maharaj. She has created her own idiom of Kathak, blending it with special inputs from Pt Suresh Talwalkar in tala and laya. This idiom has evolved over the years and is a remarkable blend of virtuosity and abhinaya, revealing the high degree of classicism Shama has imbibed from her gurus. Her perspective on the dance form allows her to choreograph abstract subjects and contemporary themes with equal ease. As performer, teacher, choreographer, artistic director, thinker and administrator, Shama’s work spans over more than 30 years. Working with several young enthusiasts of classical music, Shama has galvanised the artistic scene with her unique institution, Nad-Roop. The troupe has presented choreographies on both traditional and contemporary themes in both India and abroad. It has performed and been appreciated at many prestigious dance and music festivals all over India.
Presentation
Conceived by Shama Bhate, PARINATI is something of a culmination of her understanding and insight into her chosen dance form. The world of Kathak, as she has experienced over the years, comprises not just technique and content, but also the aesthetics and philosophy of Kathak, the art form. Parinati is an attempt to present the heritage, handed down to us by our ancestors and maestros, and its transformation down the ages. The choreographer endeavours yet again to strike a balance between re-forming with the newer sensibilities and still retaining the classicism lying at the core of the ever changing performing arts. Music is one of the core concerns of Shama’s choreography, the other being theme. That makes Parinati a spectrum of bandishes from classical composers – with different musical sensitivity and design, various ragas and talas, and a range of emotions and colours.
On 9 July 2019, Imbuto Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, renewing their commitment to sponsor around 100 students under our Edified Generation programme.
This scholarship programme was initiated in 2003 to financially support secondary school students from economically vulnerable backgrounds, in their pursuit of education.

The Dream Rocket Team is collecting nearly 8,000 artworks from participants around the globe. The artwork will be assembled together to create a massive cover in which will wrap a 37 story Saturn V Moon Rocket at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Every day, experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) protect U.S. agriculture and natural resources by identifying pests intercepted on incoming shipments at ports of entry or found around the country. To support this critical work, APHIS signed a memorandum of understanding with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History to co-locate APHIS entomology and botany experts with other Federal and Smithsonian experts already working at the museum. This move will not only consolidate vital knowledge in one place, but it will also give APHIS experts access to the museum’s resources, including their extensive arthropod collection, which is a critical pest identification tool. This story is told from my own understanding - I am happy to be corrected if any information is inaccurate.
The Solido No 50 Peugeot 504 Rallye with a release date of 4/78 is where it all began. This models featured working suspension and a metal base. When the production agreement between Dinky and Pilen ended in the late 1970s, Solido were commissioned to produce 1/43 Dinky Toys.
These were made using tooling from the existing Solido range, but with the interiors and baseplates replaced with a one-piece plastic unit featuring low friction wheels. The Peugeot 504 was listed as No 1406.
Following the Demise of Dinky Toys, it would appear that existing stocks of this range were repackaged and sold under the Cougar brand, now with the item number 1306. These can be found with the Cougar or Dinky name on the baseplate, carrying the same release date as the previous Dinky issue (07/80).
This cheaper version then replaced the original No 50 and became part of Solido's mainstream 1300 series, retaining the 1306 number and release date of the Cougar.
The metal based version was also released under the Verem brand during the 1980s-1990s. The Verem brand issued many variations on Solido castings - the 504 was even modified to produce a pick up version.
Peter Darche and I came up with a concept to track the medicine you have taken: basically installing a tablet in an off-the-shelf medicine cabinet running a custom app. This is a low entry way to make a "smart" medicine cabinet.

Infectious disease epidemics (e.g. swine flu) represent a serious health risk globally. Public health attempts at controlling the spread of diseases are reliant upon the public’s knowledge of symptoms and preventative measures. Human behavioural choices (e.g. wearing face masks) can have a significant impact on the course of an epidemic; however, research shows that although people report concern about swine flu, knowledge levels are low, as are reports of behavioural changes aimed at minimising the spread of swine flu. These findings suggest that the public were not sufficiently educated about swine flu and therefore has implications for future health campaigns.

FGR: Happy Birthday TeeRish!
Hoofprint Workshop is pleased to present UNDERSTANDING OBLIVION, a solo show featuring new work by Aaron Coleman. In a departure from his more traditional printmaking practice, Coleman uses collage and unorthodox materials to assemble a monumental triptych, returning the space to its former state: a chapel. But this is no sanctuary! Hand-painted elements, direct application of rust, and repurposed proofs all coalesce to give the viewer a sense of visual overload: the stuff of existence is tearing apart at the seams.
Aaron S. Coleman is an artist and educator living in Dekalb, Illinois. He makes mixed media prints using mezzotint, lithography, intaglio, relief and serigraphy. He combines imagery from comic books and stained glass windows to raise questions concerning misconstrued belief systems and twisted moral values in our society.
He has exhibited at the Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai, China and was invited to participate in the 6th and 7th International Printmaking Biennial of Douro in Alijo, Portugal. Aaron’s work can be found in the collections of The University of Colorado, Wichita State University, the Ino-cho Paper Museum in Kochi, Japan, The Yekaterinburg Museum of Art in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Ewing Gallery Collection. Aaron is a husband, a dog lover and a workaholic.
Based on the information collected during my ethnographic work focusing my attention on the everyday understandings of dengue fever, and paying particular attention to the different ways in which the subjects that have had dengue described the experience of being unwell, I decided to re-work (collaboratively) all the information gathered so far, to create elements that reflect the ideas of how dengue fever is understood in various different contexts.
Promoters of public health have not taken into consideration the points of view of the patients or those who have had the disease. They design campaigns based on an entomological and clinical point of view, following a standard template where you see health staff –dressed in laboratory coats– talking about environmental hygiene and the purposes of sanitation. In addition, humour doesn’t play a role in the design of the campaigns.
In order to collaboratively create an intervention that reproduces the way Luis Fernando and Sara experienced the disease (you can find information about the ways in which they described the experience of being unwell by accessing my PhD blog: www.anthropologyartscience.blogspot.com), we asked Alejandro Uribe, Sarita Álvarez and Juan Camilo Ortega for their help. They are part of Bimana, a collective of artist that creates a variety of large-scale interventions and performances combining a solar balloon, plastic bags, kites, makeup, prosthetics design, and special effects. The idea was to create a fictional character, or a comic anti-hero, that would appear in the public space of the city, creating an active dialogue with different peoples.
