We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

We want to thank you for your interest in our work and thanks for visiting our work on Flickr, we do appreciate you and the contributions you make in furthering our interest in photography and on social media in general.

There are other aspects closely related to photography that we do embark on:

Marco Sosa. Marco's design proposal included a diachronic path that used the fibonacci series [in recognition of the golden section] to create a series of labyrinths that had to be deciphered to discover the next space. The alternative synchronic path happened under the previos path, discovering the solution to the puzzle.

We had an intense and good time together, full of friendship, sharing, understanding and learning - and we enjoyed it immensely. And then the last evening had come, and time to say goodbye, and safe journey, and may your dreams come true...

~~~~~~~~~
By now he has already left for quite a while, but he knows he can see our stream and have a look at the pictures from our common time. And I bet he actually will... ;-)
Manfred and I are at times missing Tritonus quite a bit, and we hope that he is having a good time wherever he may be these days.
And that he would find an open door any time he felt like returning to the good old city goes without saying.
To all the friends of Tritonus and visitors to our stream - wouldn't you want to come over and have a look at the group Helix (of whom Tritonus is a clone) takes care of? It is The Puppet Hole...
IMPORTANT: Today (Tuesday, September 20, 2016) is our annual employee appreciation field trip! After some initial time spent on shop cleanup (blah...), then we’ll be spending our afternoon racing go karts!
Our annual field trip isn't just about having fun; it's also critical to blow off some steam, after an incredibly busy summer, so that we can stay focused and positive. And it is part of our effort to foster the teamwork and cooperation necessary to build the world's finest custom made-to-order forged alloy performance wheels.
Virtually our entire staff will be participating, so all production and shipping operations will be paused for the day. And we will have very limited staff, in the office, so we will be difficult to contact. If you have business that needs our attention, today, then please consider sending us an email (www.forgeline.com/contact.php) or be prepared to leave a voice message. Thank you for your understanding and patience!
Understanding : (-+Error) = True Value - Approximate Value
True Value is not in material world but in human thought.
Approximate Value is not in human thought but in material world.
Error happens between human thought and material world.
True Value = Approximate Value - Error
True Value = Approximate Value + Error
Approximate Value + (-Error) = True Value
Approximate Value + (+Error) = True Value
(-Error) = True Value - Approximate Value
(+Error) = True Value - Approximate Value
* stainless steel flat bar (width10mm X height 1mm X Length 100mm)
* Margin of error : (-0.1mm) ~ (+0.1mm)
iF we cut stainless steel flat bar into bar on Length 90mm with a hacksaw.
Margin of error on 90mm Bar : ( 89.9mm ~ 90.1mm )
The reault of cut is not True Value but Approximate Value in material world.
So we can not cut 90mm bar but can cut ( 89.9mm ~ 90.1mm ) bar.
Can you understand Error ? Do you get the picture ?
(+ε) be, then (+δ) be.
a be, then L be.
So infinitesimal be.
(+δ) = (+infinitesimal)
(-δ) = (-infinitesimal)
(+ε) = (+0.00000000000000000002mm)
(-ε) = (-0.00000000000000000002mm)
(+δ) = (+0.00000000000000000001mm)
(-δ) = (-0.00000000000000000001mm)
The global sanitation crisis continues to affect the lives of 2.4 billion people who lack access to safe sanitation. In India alone, over 520 million practice open defecation, which severely increases the risk of neonatal mortality, stunting and contracting infectious diseases.
Although lack of latrines or using them has been widely cited in the mass media as a key factor driving open defecation, very few quantitative studies have focused on it. To address this evidence gap, 3ie is supporting several impact evaluations of interventions to promote latrine use in rural India. We are also committed to supporting the use of quality research evidence to inform decision-making.
In solidarity with World Toilet Day 2017, 3ie organised a panel discussion on the use of evidence to inform India’s sanitation policies and programming on 17 November.
much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced -- or seemed to face -- the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favour. It understood you just so far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.
FGR: Happy Birthday TeeRish!
Based on the information collected during my ethnographic work focusing my attention on the everyday understandings of dengue fever, and paying particular attention to the different ways in which the subjects that have had dengue described the experience of being unwell, I decided to re-work (collaboratively) all the information gathered so far, to create elements that reflect the ideas of how dengue fever is understood in various different contexts.
Promoters of public health have not taken into consideration the points of view of the patients or those who have had the disease. They design campaigns based on an entomological and clinical point of view, following a standard template where you see health staff –dressed in laboratory coats– talking about environmental hygiene and the purposes of sanitation. In addition, humour doesn’t play a role in the design of the campaigns.
In order to collaboratively create an intervention that reproduces the way Luis Fernando and Sara experienced the disease (you can find information about the ways in which they described the experience of being unwell by accessing my PhD blog: www.anthropologyartscience.blogspot.com), we asked Alejandro Uribe, Sarita Álvarez and Juan Camilo Ortega for their help. They are part of Bimana, a collective of artist that creates a variety of large-scale interventions and performances combining a solar balloon, plastic bags, kites, makeup, prosthetics design, and special effects. The idea was to create a fictional character, or a comic anti-hero, that would appear in the public space of the city, creating an active dialogue with different peoples.
Acknowledgments:
I am extremely grateful with the subjects of this ethnography Sara and Luis Fernando. Special thanks to the ‘Bimana Producciones’ team (Alejandro Uribe, Sarita Álvarez and Juan Camilo Ortega), the kite-flyer Andrés Ramírez and the actor Emilio Arango. I would also like to thank the rest of the people that helped during the public experiment: Pablo López, Lucía Tobón, Sara Ibarram, Susana Valencia, Hernán Marín, Mario Valencia, and Gustavo Ramírez.
IPSOS is using biometric belts that have been strapped onto consumers' chests in order to understand human reactions in their truest form. More simply, they are measuring the response to stimuli through the nervous system.
Biometrics is a branch of neuroscience that takes the measurement of emotions to a whole new level. It allows marketers to understand the additional dimensions of unconscious consumer responses in their day-to-day decision making, ultimately leading to stronger end results and a greater understanding of how brands and advertising are connecting with people in their everyday lives.
understanding the stress and its reduction
www.gitamritam.com/2013y/
It is all misunderstanding. Misunderstanding is lack of understanding. Whenever there is harmony gone amok, there is lack of understanding which becomes misunderstanding. Lack of understanding is misunderstanding. Ultimately, lack of understanding - perhaps partial understanding - builds suffering. Seeing only part of the picture, you suffer. Not knowing the whole story, you falter and land in suffering.
You have seen this in common life. You interpreted something one way. It was intended another way. Two people see the same act. One sees it as love, and another sees it as a disavowal of love. Each to his own applies to interpretations, beloveds. And now you aspire to come to My view of the little acts in the world. As you do, you take the whole gamut less personally. Seeing less personally, you see more universally. Universal covers a greater territory than personal. For Me, they are the same. I love you personally, and My personal love for you is also universal love for you and all that is.
You may debate. You may say that pain is pain. Yet how much less painful you perceive even pain when you know there is something larger than pain going on. What seems purposeless for you may have great purpose beyond your understanding. Most assuredly, beyond your understanding.
I am not talking in riddles. A person is born, and a person dies. You can look at life in one way and view it as purposeless. Viewed in another way, you would bow down to it. All is temporary in the relative plane of life, and yet there is a stream that runs through life that elevates it to the Highest Heaven. You know deeply that there is more to life than meets the eye. Even when you don't know what it is, you know there is something. You don't know what the something is, yet you know it is there.
It is hard to reconcile life in the day to day with Eternity. It is hard to see even a minute as a dot of Eternity. It is hard to see that Eternity is dot-less even though you know the dots very well and, seemingly, Eternity not at all.
Beloveds, when time and space do not exist, how can you possibly know what a day is and which end is up?
Without walls to guide you, you fear you will stumble. With walls, you walk a narrow path.
The name of the game of life is expansion, and expansion carries itself to unboundedness.
Heretofore, you have been bounded by ideas of what you think someone meant or what anything means. All your definitions are of the past, as if holding to past definitions somehow wraps you in swaddling cloth. You need no swaddling. You don't even like it around you when you recognize it for what it is. You would love unboundedness if you recognized it. Your fear of falling is your fear of rising. You stoop so your head will not go through the ceiling. Yet how far can unboundedness go when you have a ceiling? The ceilings you construct lop off unboundedness.
You have decided what is right and what is wrong, and you will only let in your idea of what is right, and you will keep out whatever your idea of wrongness is, and so you hold on tightly to the past and your shortsightedness of it, and so your life is bound in heaps of the past.
Let go of the past in all its forms, and you will be innocent. Your eyes will be wider, and you will see further. You will well see what is right in front of you, undisguised by misunderstanding and, therefore, lack of understanding. You will see yourself before you, fresh as a daisy or as sweet as a rosebud from Heaven. You will understand love once and for all, even human love, faltering or flying.
"Understanding more about why hope fades is one reason that research about gifted girls and women continues..."
From a chapter by Sally M. Reis in Conceptions of Giftedness by Davidson and Sternberg. See www.amazon.com/reader/052154730X?_encoding=UTF8&query...
Our analysis of the Waddell & Reed e-Mini trades led us to an unexpected break-through. By process of elimination, and with the SEC report for context, we finally have a crystal clear understanding what caused the May 6, 2010 flash crash.
First of all, the Waddell & Reed trades were not the cause, nor the trigger. The algorithm was very well behaved; it was careful not to impact the market by selling at the bid, for example. And when prices moved down sharply, it would stop completely.
The buyer of those contracts, however, was not so careful when it came to selling what they had accumulated. Rather than making sure the sale would not impact the market, they did quite the opposite: they slammed the market with 2,000 or more contracts as fast as they could. The sale was so furious, it would often clear out the entire 10 levels of depth before the offer price could adjust downward. As time passed, the aggressiveness only increased, with these violent selling events occurring more often, until finally the e-Mini circuit breaker kicked in and paused trading for 5 seconds, ending the market slide.
Because of arbitration, when the e-Mini changes price with high volume, many ETFs are repriced (quotes updated, trades executed). The component stocks of ETFs are also repriced, along with many indexes. And finally, all the option chains for the ETFs, their components and indexes are also repriced. The entire system simply cannot absorb the impact of a sudden move in the e-Mini on high volume. A sale (or purchase) of 2,000+ contracts which rips through one-side of the depth of book in 50-100 milliseconds, will immediately overload many systems. The impact reverberates for a much longer period of time than the sell (or buy) event itself.
The first large e-Mini sale slammed the market at approximately 14:42:44.075, which caused an explosion of quotes and trades in ETFs, equities, indexes and options -- all occurring about 20 milliseconds later (about the time it takes information to travel from Chicago to New York). This surge in activity almost immediately saturated or slowed down every system that processes this information; some more than others. Two more sell events began just 4 seconds later (14:42:48:250 and 14:42:50:475), which was not enough time for many systems to recover from the shock of the first event. This was the beginning of the freak sell-off which became known as the flash crash.
In summary, the buyers of the Waddell & Reed e-Mini contracts, transformed a passive, low impact event, into a series of large, intense bursts of market impacting events which overloaded the system. The SEC report uses an analogy of a game of hot-potato. We think it was more like a game of dodge-ball among first-graders, with a few eighth-graders mixed in. When the eighth-graders got the ball, everyone cleared the deck out of panic and fear.
Understanding the changing media environment and its impact on our society and political climate is complex, requiring analysis from multiple viewpoints.
The second conference on media and communications brought together scholars across fields including political economy, industrial organization, and economic theory to examine critical questions of how the media shapes our lives today.
Surviving cancer and using art as a tool for healing, reflection and understanding has infused my art with a sense of energy and optimism that has a universal appeal. The process of making the art as well as the meaning of it, are both an integral part of the end result and for me there is always a battle to harmonize between the two – to evoke the emotion of the piece and to empower the viewer.
I love combining traditional and new media painting techniques where one feeds off the energy of the other. The visual collaboration of both medias often celebrates a bold expressionism and optimistic edge regardless of subject matter.
My work has evolved from a mashing of referenced pop art and iconic imagery into elaborate multilayered portraits and scenes that depict a more personal interpretation of my life experience, battles and passions. My goal is to lead the observer to dramatic action, putting them on the edge between what we know and what is unknowable. I’ve learned that something new will always come about when you push hard enough and the result is the revelation of a “new identity”.
The motivation for me to keep going is to gain an understanding of how this “new identity or rebirth or truth” actually reflects my life as well as the world we live in – or not.
