Siberian Chiffchaff - Phylloscopus (collybita) tristis

Siberian chiffchaff (Phylloscopus (collybita) tristis) is a leaf-warbler which is usually considered a subspecies of the common chiffchaff, but may be a species in its own right.

Siberian chiffchaff breeds in Siberia east of the Pechora River and winters in the lower Himalayas.

It is also regularly recorded in western Europe in winter, and it is likely that the numbers involved have been underestimated due to uncertainties over identification criteria, lack of good data and recording policies (Sweden and Finland only accept trapped birds).

Because of their unfamiliar appearance, British records in the 1950s and 1960s were originally thought to be greenish warblers, and accepted as such by BBRC, the national rarities committee, until the records were reviewed in the 1980s.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated!

Came upon a Red-shouldered Hawk while out for a walk today. I was struck by the look of determination in its eyes. The Hawk flew-out and hit the ground off in the distance, then flew to a nearby tree. Probably enjoyed a bit of breakfast… can’t say what it ate, but I don’t think it was a vegan meal : )

Whether wheeling over a swamp forest or whistling plaintively from a riverine park, a Red-shouldered Hawk is typically a sign of tall woods and water.

It’s one of our most distinctively marked common hawks, with barred reddish-peachy underparts and a strongly banded tail. In flight, translucent crescents near the wingtips help to identify the species at a distance. These forest hawks hunt prey ranging from mice to frogs and snakes.

Red-shouldered Hawks return to the same nesting territory year after year. One Red-shouldered Hawk occupied a territory in southern California for 16 consecutive years.

By the time they are five days old, nestling Red-shouldered Hawks can shoot their feces over the edge of their nest. Bird poop on the ground is a sign of an active nest.

The oldest-known Red-shouldered hawk was a female, and at least 25 years, 10 months old when she was recaptured and rereleased during banding operations in California in 2000. She had been banded in the same state in 1974.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is feathers. Never underestimate the strength of a single and delicate feather… As you can see in this picture: a delicate, fluffy feather can be very strong. It is a well known fact, that feathers are use to support lots of pressure in their day to day life but they rarely show some distress. So happy pink - feather day to you all my friends !! Dont let that pressure get to you, be more like a feather !!

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day my friends !! See you later!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

I can read on your face

You expect my disappointment

And you think that all you can be

Is never gonna be enough

And you feel you've fallen short

Well your doubts aren't silent

And it hurts me when my soul can hear

You underestimate me

Never think that you don't know

How to love me it isn't so

You don't need to be the perfect thing

You don't have to give me anything

Only all you can give from your heart

You don't need to be the perfect one

You're the closest I will ever come

Oh, oh nobody's perfect at all

Nobody's perfect at all

Until you fall in love with them

When you look at my face

I know you don't see what I see

But a better version of myself

Someone I wish I could be

When we make love like this

We are totally flawless

And I know we are at our best

We are so beautiful

Never think that you don't know

How to love me it isn't so

You don't need to be the perfect thing

You don't have to give me anything

Only all you can give from your heart

You don't need to be the perfect one

You're the closest I will ever come

Oh, oh nobody's perfect at all

Nobody's perfect at all

Until you fall in love with them

The Power of Light floods through our lives on a daily basis. It is present in so many forms and is arguably the most influential force on how we perceive and connect with the world around us. We live, communicate and celebrate in all of its mediums. Light has the power to give life and save life. It plays with our emotions and considerably affects the way we feel.

We interact with this magical and intangible substance, whether natural or artificial, but often overlook or realise the significance or impact it has on us or the spaces we use. Its influence is frequently taken for granted and many underestimate the authority it has on us.

Light is one of the most powerful symbols that we know of. It’s a symbol for life regardless of your religious, spiritual, cultural, or scientific views and is one of the few things in life that the majority of the population can agree on.

It’s often agreed that without light, there would be no life.

Light is also symbolic of wisdom, divinity, hope, good, and truth and these powerful meanings show how central light is to our everyday life and should not go unnoticed.

Visit Beautiful Florence

Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

I am briefly interrupting autumn and the "larch madness" series, to celebrate the impending arrival of winter in the mountains. I hiked yesterday on a glorious sunny day, though winter's chill was in the air (as was the wind, which was gusting through the forested areas of the trail and howling on the exposed ridge tops). There was snow and ice covering the shady areas of the trail and patches of white among the fading autumn foliage. But Tahoma was majestic in its new covering of fresh snow and the entire day felt like a beautiful celebration of nature and life.

The hike started with the not-to-be-underestimated joy of being able to arrive at the trailhead at 10:07am and still find a parking spot! The sky was a shade of blue that seemed almost unreal and the sun lit up the green of the conifers, creating a color palette that relegated the reds and yellows of autumn to the deep recesses of memory. The views from every open area seemed to stretch on forever, with miles and miles of the Cascade range visible in every direction.

The tarns and lakes along the loop sparkled in hues of blue and green that mirrored the sky and trees, and the wind rippled their surfaces as the sunlight danced in concert with the movement of the water. Time seemed to lose its meaning as the hike went along, with each moment suspended as though in slow motion before floating and flowing into the next.

And overlaying it all was a feeling of joy. Both my own and that which was echoed back by the landscape as we sang together in silent harmony.

On a recent rainforest walk I hit the road early and was among the first on the trail as measured by the spider web quotient. I underestimated how dark it would be beneath the canopy and after a few kilometres of walking there was still barely enough light to capture this spot by hand. I kept the lighting low as I recalled it. Certainly a lovely place to sit for a break or contemplate the surrounds.

One fine day i had a snap session with him. I make brutal art that day - to be honest, of course i didn´t. As always, I took one trillion snaps and then deleted almost all of them. He really has been so humble and kind, he was very patient with me. He always behaved like a gentelman.

Another time we had a conversation where he talked about not being perfect and facing life as best he can. That impressed me very much, because people in our "perfect world" are afraid of showing weakness and rarely talk about having flaws. I think that says everything about him as the human being.

Without art I would never have met him, so I'm thankful for this moments. His attitude towards life and his way of treating people well shows the truth in his heart. Always reach for the stars, my friend Arnno.

Up and out the door yesterday morning at 5 am and headed over to Essex to try and catch the early morning sun. Just missed the high tide as underestimated the travel time but we both managed to get a couple of good images out of it and a very nice day out too!

On the right you can see the edge of the architecture everyone is familiar with. On the left, you see the people and surrounding architecture. What is it like to live right next to something so famous? Do you feel like you underestimate it or take it for granted? Do you feel like you love the home you live in more but no one will ever see it?

As a photographer, I have very little interest in capturing something that others have captured well millions of times but I do have an interest in humans in all spaces.

Never underestimate the power of solitude...b.mikic

Nature's beauty is often underestimated. Its settings of grandeur most often entice photographers. Yet, for me, it is the simplicity of its common "face" that holds an intrinsic allure and enduring beauty. Winter's grey cloak still hangs upon the land. It is the sun and only the sun that provides warmth. What a beautiful time; waiting for Spring.

I think there is almost no other flower in the garden what is underestimated so much like the daisy. It is standing everywhere on the meadows is often overrun be the lawnmowers or trampled under foot but not really appreciated most of the time. In fact it is so versatile and from a modest elegance. Every year I'm taking the time to put some of this tiny treasures into the right light.

Take a look at this beautiful blossom, what seems to grow in a botanical garden. The fact is, that I put the chopped stems of this plant on my scrambled eggs every Saturday, because this beauty is simple chives. It is important to me to help these beautiful but underestimated plants and blossoms to a little bit more attention on that way.

Cherish, cherish

So tired of broken hearts and losing at this game

Before I start this dance

I take a chance in telling you

I want more than just romance

You are my destiny

I can't let go

Baby can't you see

Cupid, please take your aim at me

Cherish the thought

Of always having you here by my side

(Oh baby I) cherish the joy

You keep bringing it into my life

(I'm always singing it)

Cherish the strength

You got the power to make me feel good

(And baby I) perish the thought

Of ever leaving

I never would

I was never satisfied with casual encounters

I can't hide my need for two hearts that bleed

With burning love

That's the way it's got to be

So don't underestimate my point of view

There's a fire starting in my heart

Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out the dark

Finally, I can see you crystal clear

Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare

See how I'll leave with every piece of you

Don't underestimate the things that I will do

There's a fire starting in my heart

Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out the dark

The scars of your love remind me of us

They keep me thinking that we almost had it all

The scars of your love, they leave me breathless

I can't help feeling

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

Rolling in the deep

Baby, I have no story to be told

But I've heard one on you and I'm gonna make your head burn

Think of me in the depths of your despair

Make a home down there as mine sure won't be shared

The scars of your love remind me of us

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

They keep me thinking that we almost had it all

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

The scars of your love, they leave me breathless

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
