I originally thought this fellow was a bee mimic of some sort but Sylvester K has kindly identified it for us in the comments. Thank you Sylvester.

I found this little bee chap on the physocarpus - him and lots of his buddies. You can see his hind legs are a yellowish beige colour as is part of his underbelly and clearly give the impression of pollen sacs, but instead are in fact hairy. Quite noisy fellows also which is great as it makes them easier to locate for me :^)

I got a few photographs which was due to their number and noise because under normal circumstances I can go days and days and catch nothing vaguely presentable so this was very pleasing to me. It was also double lucky as I didn't realise I was on f4, thought I had a couple stops more than that but they still turned out okay. Chuckle.

The same jelly fish I posted earlier but from a different perspective. A glimpse of the internal organs.

Best view enlarged.

Many thanks for your visit, comments, invites and faves...it is always appreciated..

Peaceful Travel Tuesday

I love bridges, the span and the cables, but I like the underside the best, what amazing and incredible structures they are.

Clevedon is an English seaside town in Somerset. It lies along the Severn Estuary and features in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Clevedon grew in the Victorian period as a seaside resort and in the 20th century as a dormitory town for Bristol.

The seafront has ornamental gardens, a Victorian bandstand and other attractions including the Marine Lake

Clevedon Pier, which opened in 1869, is one of the earliest surviving examples of a Victorian pier. On 17 October 1970, two outward spans collapsed when the seventh set of legs from the shore failed during a routine insurance load test. A trust was eventually formed and the pier and its buildings were restored and reopened on 27 May 1989, when the Waverley paddle steamer berthed and took on passengers.

This shot was taken from the viewing portal strung beneath the main decking of the pier. Great view, but the window is in dire need of cleaning 

All those Parisian lawyers will note that this is bereft of twinkly goodness.

This is the first time i've used my D90 at night so wasn't sure how it would perform. Considering it is high ISO and handheld I am well impressed with the lack of noise. Will have to venture out more of an evening.

Photo #5 -

I don't know if this is the female who made the nest in Photo #4, but this mantis was found after the nest had been made. If so, she seems to have regained her figure just fine, don't you think? It actually is more likely a male. Either way it apparently couldn't wait for me to come out to take its picture this morning, so itlanded on one of our windows to pose for this unusual angle shot. It's too bad I didn't think to use the movie setting since it did a little dance on the glass that was kinda cute.

Oh, and Happy Bokeh Wednesday. Those are what's left of our roses in the background.

I just about walked face first into this little spider trap trying to capture some floral images. This spider seemed to be in a bit of a contented mess... all exposed!

Been Super busy and sorry about posting and running lately. I hope everyone has a great day.

Exploring underneath the iconic Santa Monica Pier I discovered a mysterious place flooded with lights and sounds breaking through slats in the boards from the bustling world above... and yet strangely peaceful and serene in contrast. Such a marked difference from the world famous place it supports.

It makes me think. Our life is like the pier... to some we show only the top (Facebook?); The vacations, new cars, promotions, awards, and honors. We present the glamour and the fun. What we fail to do is to show the rest... the stuff that supports all those moments; 2 am wake up calls, hospital visits, unexpected layoffs, stubbed toes and late night tears.

The older I get the more I value the underbelly of the pier. I am so accustomed to posting pictures of the famous ferris wheel, however, that I find it hard to show the tar wrapped pillars below. Though it requires vulnerability and can be ugly it is often where we see God's best work.

Havent had a chance to shoot in London for months, and then ended up there twice last week.
