For Valentine's Day, why not a little bambino for my Flickr friends! And a celebration of unconditional love....
This photo was part of a one person show called "Italian Treasures - Icons of Venice and Florence" www.flickr.com/photos/44548980@N00/1476638355/in/set-7215... . This photo is also part of my set on Trees and Gardens. (Follow the link in the side bar to the right to see those).
Just a few minutes walking distance from the Convent of San Marco in Florence, there are several gardens that are part of the University of Florence. I couldn't go inside as they were closed that day, but this charming scene was visible from the ancient garden gate. To spend a few peaceful moments enjoying this garden and the Giardini di Simplici (one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Western world) nearby was special, given that the historic part of Florence is densely crowded with one amazing building after another, as it was in the Middle Ages....with narrow streets and no room for nature. In this dense urban landscape, to come across a garden and trees!! What a treasure!
I was in a trance in any case, after spending several hours at the Convent of San Marco experiencing the exquisitely moving frescoes there, by Fra Angelico. Maybe that is why the trees looked ... well ... kind of indigo. :o) I truly recommend visiting the San Marco Museum. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marco,_Florence

Today, October 5, I celebrate the anniversary of my birth. This day I want to remember my parents, especially my mother, who unconditionally loved me until the day they left me from this world to a place of eternal life. They might have been gone 4 years and 2 years ago but I feel their presence around me each day. Thank you Dad and Mom. I love you both so much!
What better way to thank you all:))) with something I hold dear to my heart,

My dear old Grandma and my daughter holding hands.
There are two generations and 31870 days between them. They are at opposite ends of their lives. But with a mutual respect for each other, each hand touch is a declaration of love.
9 days after this photo was captured my grandma passed away peacefully.

I love all the London suburbs, more or less unconditionally. Somebody did ask me recently which was my least favourite part of London. After some thought I concluded that it was Staples Corner. It is essentially just a series of road junctions where the M1 and the A5 meet the North Circular Road. It's certainly the least pedestrian-friendly place

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Sunday is Grandparents Day in the US.
This is my maternal great-grandmother, Emma.
Reimagined.
Emma was the youngest of six children and the first to immigrate to the United States from Sweden (Dalarna County.) She was a seamstress to titled ladies in Stockholm before her trans-Atlantic journey. When settled in Chicago, she met and married my great-grandfather, Peter, a widower. They had one child, my grandma Myrle. She had one child, my mother.
Emma was my discipline in the formative years, she was also unconditional love. She taught me to cook and bake and sew and made sure I always remembered I was a Swede.
Many years later, when she began showing signs of dementia, she never once raised her voice to me. And I was always remembered. She died when my son was three weeks old. Five generations for a very brief time.
The original photograph was taken in Sweden about 1900 and she was probably fifteen-ish.

as you can see, our younger dog is not too comfortable being the model, so there's only 2 (and maybe a half) frame of him. but i do love him as much as i love our senior dog
