Already 1 year ago I went to the Grevelingen in the Netherlands to finally see a group of flamingos that hibernate here. It was on my list for years but the weather was always an obstacle to go there because it is a long drive from my home and predictions were most of the time too unstable. But this day the predictions were unclouded for the whole day.

So although it was rather cold, I stayed there the whole day, making shot after shot, and although I didn't plan to stay there I finally waited for the sunset to create this wonderful extra pink on the feathers. I guess I came home with ca 500 shots of a group of flamingos that first were sleeping for a few hours, and then started to awaken and show their natural behaviour in the hours that followed.

A wonderful experience!

Gently, little boat

across the ocean float,

the crystal waves dividing.

The sun in the west

is going to rest.

Glide toward the islands of the blessed.

MADMEN

What voice is this?

What heavenly strains

bring solace to tormented brains?

ANNE

Orchards greenly grace

that undisturbed place.

The weary soul recalling

to slumber and dream,

while many a stream

falls descanting on a child-like theme.

MADMEN

Oh sacred music of the spheres!

Where are our rages and our fears?

ANNE

Lion, lamb, and deer,

untouched by greed or fear

about the woods are straying.

And quietly now the blossoming bough

sway above the fair, unclouded brow.

MADMEN

Sing on! Forever sing!

Release our frantic souls and bring us peace.

Give man a car; definitely happy for the day

fill it lung

with strength

with courage

with taste of ocean

with glorious guidance

for it is the power of life

the breath of freedom

Rush into my-M4

In March 2023, 218 497 from DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung surprisingly came into service at the Mühldorf line star to alleviate the locomotive shortage there. With its exterior design, which is intended to span the arc from the steam locomotive to the ICE, it advertises the services of AW Cottbus. On 18 March 2023 it was a day with halfway decent weather for the first time in a long time and at lunchtime there was unclouded sunshine. At Pietsham I was able to photograph the colourful exotic in front of RB 27029 on its way to Mühldorf.

THE SIR JOHN BETJEMAN STATUE

Poet, Sir John Betjeman led a campaign to save St. Pancras Station and the Chambers from demolition in the 1960's. In tribute to the famous poet and railway enthusiast an 8.5ft sculpture by Martin Jennings has been designed to celebrate the man and his poetry.

Sir John's coat-tail was designed to emulate the shape of the station's Barlow train shed roof?

stpancras.com/news-events/the-sir-john-betjeman-statue

The statue of John Betjeman is by the sculptor Martin Jennings. Of bronze and larger than life-size, it was cast by Pangolin Editions at their Gloucestershire foundry. It shows Betjeman clad in suit, mackintosh and trilby hat, capturing his "shabby appearance, shoelace and scruffy collar are undone...knotted string for one shoelace". The poet holds his hat as he gazes up at the roof of the station. The 2.10m (6.9 ft) statue stands on a plinth of Cumbrian slate with words from some of Betjeman's poems inscribed in the base. The central text reads: "And in the shadowless unclouded glare, Deep blue above us fades to whiteness where, A misty sealine meets the wash of air. / John Betjeman, 1906-1984, poet, who saved this glorious station". The statue was unveiled by the poet's daughter,

Candida Lycett Green and the Poet Laureate Andrew Motion on 12 November 2007.

On the mountain, the glare of unclouded sunshine coupled with the glare from the yellow metal produces unbearable brightness of being. As soon as the sun rises over the horizon she shrieks like a vampire, doing her best to protect her sore eyes. She can barely see! Gold! Gold! Gold! Wherever she looks - gold! Cursed be the stuff! How much of these mountains is gold? Based on the pain index, this place is worse than the Ravine of the Rubies! Worse than the Mountain of Moonstone! Worse even than the Sands of Sapphires!!! Tomorrow she will call her travel agent and ask for a refund. She is determined.

‘If you’d only met me ten years ago,’ I used to say to him, ‘the pair of us wouldn’t be sitting here now.’

‘You’re dead right,’ he agreed. ‘I’d be in the South Sea Islands.’

Beneath the glare of unclouded sunshine and numbed by the rhythm of the waves, she reflects on her strange situation. We are alone together, she thinks. It is an inescapable fact. The South Sea islands? It feels more like the Caribbean. Somewhere around Bermuda - on account of the shape of the clouds and the color of the ocean. Also, there is a soft warm wind blowing.

How To Handle Interpersonal Conflict Like A Pro:

Fact Conflict

"You’re utterly convinced snakes can hear, but your friend insists they can’t because they don’t have ears.

This illustrates a fact conflict, also called simple conflict. Fact conflict happens when two or more people disagree over information or the truth of something.

Because this kind of conflict involves facts, you can often resolve it pretty easily. All you have to do is check a credible source for the truth."

"Casta Diva, che inargenti

Queste sacre antiche piante

A noi volgi il bel sembiante

Senza nube e senza vel

Tempra, o Diva

Tempra tu de cori ardenti

Tempra ancora lo zelo audace

Spargi in terra quella pace

Che regnar tu fai nel ciel

Fine al rito, e il sacro bosco

Sia disgombro dai profani

Quando il Nume irato e fosco

Chiegga il sangue dei Romani

Dal Druidico delubro

La mia voce tuoner

Cadr punirlo io posso

Ma, punirlo, il cor non sa

Ah! bello a me ritorna

Del fido amor primiero

E contro il mondo intiero

Difesa a te sar

Ah! bello a me ritorna

Del raggio tuo sereno

E vita nel tuo seno

E patria e cielo avr

Ah, riedi ancora qual eri allora

Quando il cor ti diedi allora

Ah, riedi a me"

Family is a gift from God. It is designed to protect, to teach, to nurture and grow us all to the point of providing the same services to otherers, regardless if we share DNA or not.

I love observing parents in nature. It is unclouded, pure…perfect. A perfect balance of nurturing while all the time preparing for the reality of the world in which they live.

The Belted Kingfisher is often first noticed by its wild rattling call as it flies over rivers or lakes. It may be seen perched on a high snag, or hovering on rapidly beating wings, then plunging headfirst into the water to grab a fish. Belted Kingfishers need access to bodies of water for feeding, and vertical earthen banks for nesting. They hunt in unclouded water that allows them to see prey below the surface, with perches nearby but minimal vegetation obstructing the water. Some of their most common habitats are streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, estuaries, and calm marine waters. During the breeding season Belted Kingfishers breed throughout most of North America at elevations up to 9,000 feet. They winter in similar habitats, as well as in mangroves, swamps, and brackish lagoons in the Central American parts of their wintering range.

Belted Kingfishers are resident in Florida, although more common in the Panhandle and north Florida in summer, and central and south Florida in winter. They nest April through July.

The term "kingfisher" means "king of the fishers.

"Deep within the ancient woods, where mist coils around gnarled roots and moss clings like a lingering memory, dwell the Veiled Ones. They do not walk, they do not speak, yet their presence is thick as sap in the marrow of timeworn trees. Some say they were the first to strike a pact with the spirit of the forest, and still they keep watch—motionless, patient—waiting for those who arrive with a quiet soul and eyes unclouded by fear" (Richard and Sira)

This photo was taken in the well-known Reitdiep harbor of Groningen, a city in one of the more northern provinces of the Netherlands. The colorful pier houses make this a popular place for a photo. It was an unclouded sunset and therefore waited until the blue hour. Because there was no wind, the houses were beautifully reflected in the water. A slightly slower shutter speed made the reflection even better.

I named this image "tongue-in-cheek" because I blew out the sky details totally. I am learning to use Viveza, though, and the control points are fantastic and allowed me to add some color to at least give a little interest to the sky. The evening sun was so great I wanted to save this image somehow. I guess I need to learn to use filters,

Child of the pure unclouded brow

And dreaming eyes of wonder!

Though time be fleet, and I and thou

Are half a life asunder,

Thy lowing smile will surely hail

The love-gift of a fairy-tale.

I have not seen thy sunny face,

Nor heard thy silver laughter:

No thought of me shall find a place

In thy young life's hereafter--

Enough that now thou wilt not fail

To listen to my fairy-tale.

A tale begun in other days,

When summer suns were glowing--

A simple chime, that served to time

The rhythm of our rowing--

Whose echoes live in memory yet,

Though envious years would say "forget."

Come, hearken then, ere voice of dread,

With bitter tidings laden,

Shall summon to unwelcome bed

A melancholy maiden!

We are but older children, dear,

Who fret to find our bedtime near...

Agathla Peak is an eroded volcanic plug (rising about 1500 ft. or 457 m.) south of Monument Valley, Arizona that is sacred to the Navajo (requiring permission from the local residents). I used a Cyclops 18-million candlepower spotlight to light paint the peak from a distance of almost 1 mile (5000 ft. or 1524 m.).
