Abu Dhabi is the capital and the second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (the most populous being Dubai), and also capital of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest of the UAE's seven emirates. Abu Dhabi lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. The city proper had a population of 1.5 million in 2014.

Dubai Marina (Arabic: مرسى دبي‎, also called Dubai Marina Arabic: دبي مرينا‎) is a district in the heart of what has become known as "new Dubai" in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dubai Marina is a canal city, carved along a two mile (3 km) stretch of Persian Gulf shoreline. When the entire development is complete, it will accommodate more than 120,000 people in residential towers and villas.

Near Falaj Al Mualla, Umm Al Quwain - United Arab Emirates. The earlier watchtowers, which were built in the 19th century, were circular in shape. This was the best design as there were no corners that could be used by people to hide, however, they were tougher to construct. In the early part of the last century, the towers were rectangular in shape, as many more were needed to be built quickly. They were easier and cheaper to make. As progress and peace arrived, these defence edifices slowly fell into ruin and quite a few collapsed into obscurity. Nearly a century later, the Historical Buildings Section of Dubai Municipality is rebuilding them in a bid to restore and protect the emirate's architectural heritage.

Just one of those moments, when you look and you see the sky blue color in contrast with a green looking lake, making a distinct scenic view.

The majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is probably the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society - and one of the most beautiful in the world - initiated no less by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is fondly thought of as the father of the UAE.

These photos were taken between the years 1991 and 1996 when we were based in Dubai. These include a few UAE trips with visiting people. I drove a Pontiac Firefly. These are the direct scans and have not been altered.
