My dear followers! I'm so sorry that I'm posting so little lately. I have a lot of stuff to do (research, reading, thinking) with my masterthesis which I will finish in january :-)
Normally I'm a communication/ux designer and photography is my hobby, so at the moment I need to focus on other things ;-(
But I also wanted to present my website as a designer to you.
I would be happy if you could visit www.melanie-thoma.de
(I really appreciate feedback! :-))

How many UX designers does it take to look after a Bonsai tree? Two, one to foliar feed it and the other to decide how much sunlight it gets.
Once a month, Dr. Makayla Lewis (@maccymacx) hosts a Google Hangout session on a related sketchnoting topic.
This month's hangout (my first one) featured UX designer Chris Spalton (@chrisspalton) with the session topic of "Using Sketchnotes to Identify Personal Goals."
It was a really good session and has inspired me to work on a sketchnote version of my own goals for 2016 (coming soon).

Do Smart devices mean I don’t need to think anymore?
Smart devices support our physical, emotional and financial well being; connecting digital and real world experiences to improve who we are as human beings. But are we in danger of losing our souls when we swap the need to think for ourselves for complex algorithmic analyses that tell us what to do or even go as far as do it for us without us knowing?
This keynote highlights how UX designers have a philosophical, spiritual and ethical responsibility to find solutions to problems that improve the way we currently exist without losing who we are as human beings.

10 Programmers and a UX Designer died all of a sudden in a war room situation. They were apparently working too hard.
In this scene from The Shining, music rises ominously while the camera shows the characters walking happily through the maze. Suddenly, the screen flashes black with just the single word, "Tuesday." It shouldn't be scary, but it absolutely is.

It’s a Great Time To Be a UX Designer
Jared Spool
After years of wishing we’d be recognized and appreciated for the value we bring, we designers are now highly sought after. The demand for great design has never been higher! Yet, while we’re presented with more opportunities than ever, we also face increased challenges. Mobile design requires us to rethink how we design for screens and interaction. Agile methodology forces us to critically reevaluate best processes and techniques. Learn how we can deliver world-changing designs while our own world is dramatically shifting under our feet.
