As another wonderful day of hiking and enjoying the outdoors, trails, colors, and waterfalls approached its end it was time to enjoy another famous feature of the Shenandoah National Park. All along Skyline Drive one can get beautiful distant views both to the east and west. That makes the park great for both early morning sunrise visits as well as late sunsets after other park activities ... #etbtsy
We pulled over to one of the many pullouts along Skyline Drive that offered a nice distant view as well as plenty of foreground colors. I thoroughly enjoyed the clouds and light that nature had in store this evening. Unlike a featureless blue sky would have the clouds and haze darkened the background, diffused the light, and created shafts of light illuminating the land below. All of that combined helped the colors stand out boldly, whether the yellow ...

The news from the WWF's biennial report (the last in 2022, with an update on fish in 2024) on life on the planet is not good.
“The Living Planet Index (LPI), which tracks populations of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians, reveals an average 69% decline in monitored wildlife populations since 1970. The 2022 LPI analyzed nearly 32,000 species populations. It provides the most comprehensive measure of how they are responding to pressures in their environment."

I was really happy with how this particular photograph turned out as a cyanotype. It fit the process and the rough paper texture very well and so far remains one of my most favorite cyanotype creations. It will be hard to top. Seeing how well it worked as a blueprint there was just one other thing to try. You guessed it. How would it look ... #etbtsy

A slow shutter speed (20 seconds) shot of the funicular tram coming up to the peak in Hong Kong.
