One of my favourite 5305LA mainline support images given a more dramatic rendition & straightened slightly.
The view up front. Great Western Railway King 4-6-0 6024 King Edward I double-heads with British Railways Standard Pacific 70013 Oliver Cromwell eastwards from Plymouth with the returning Devonian railtour. Hemerdon bank is ahead but with such superpower we just flattened it.
The train we had been waiting for: Stanier 8F 2-8-0 48305 arrives at Loughborough platform 2. It's carrying express lamps because it was pulling the dining train. We would run as a local to Leicester but had to wait a while longer because our stock was behind Type 1 diesel D8098 still out on the line.
British Railways Standard 2 78019 has just dropped back under Empress Road bridge to be coaled. It was used on the morning Driver Experience trains and left shed ahead of us.
Great Western 2884 Class 2-8-0 3802 arrived in platform 1 before our train and here Rob & Lee have got the shunt signal to cross over to shed road 1 and take water before running round their train.
Both Gala visitors, 3802 and 92134 are leaving this week to return to Llangollen (via Carnforth for wheel turning) and Grosmont respectively.

The end is nigh.
After our one-trip wonder to Leicester we are back on shed at Loughborough. I have cleaned the fire, emptied the smokebox, raked out the ashpan & filled the boiler. 8F 48305 is now cooling down under the crescent moon. The signalman has already gone & I'm heading home!
On my way to sign on this fine line up presented itself on shed at Loughborough. Visiting 9F 2-10-0 92134, Austerity 0-6-0ST 68067 and Ivatt 2 2-6-0 46521 by Empress Road bridge.

US section of fans before the game. A large contingent of US fans however still outnumbered by the Hondurans I think. 2nd largest crowd to see a US qualifier ever. Great atmosphere
