the power supply is onboard (give it 12v dc), the memory is laptop ddr3, system disk is an SSD in mSATA format (new). video is onboard, intel gig-e is onboard, 2 serial and 1 parallel is onboard. usb2.0 ports, hdmi, vga all onboard. for me, all that's left is a usb/dac or usb/spdif audio device.

this is a very nice wire-free install! no wires even to the SSD. this ssd is 4gb and is $25 from newegg (using a sandisk flash module). cpu is a dualcore atom CederTrail family. n2800 chipset.

motherboard was $95 at central computers. ram was $30 at microcenter (4gb in 2 2gb sticks). case was $40 from amazon (e350 mini-itx case). again, no psu needed other than a 12v dc brick that terminates in the usual dc barrel plug ($10 at amazon).

A few months ago I figured that finding a perfect case for my M was near impossible. There are several possible solutions from the market, ranging from USD34 to USD135 (One Lisa Laughy is selling in Ninth Wave Designs called Traveler Gift Set and one from a collaboration between Porter x Paper Sky). But all these don't fit my requirements. I first listed what features I wanted for my M case, drew some sketches and asked a vendor to make samples. After a few months of slight but frequent changes I finally get it right, for myself. So now I'm happily carrying M on my waist or backpack with the option to put 3 of my favorite pens into the pen holders. Further, there are several pockets that is good to insert normal M or Reporter inside the case. It can also be used as a travel pouch, i.e. to put any small objects I need to carry during my business trips. I also added a small opening on the back of the case for headphone access in case I want to use it as an iPod carrying case. The inner pockets allow me to put USB2.0 cable, recorder, iPod and headphone pretty easily. Now I am ready to produce the product but I need to know if any of you are interested in gettnig one. I will definitely sell it in the store I work for, but if significant number of people are interested I can perhaps do something about it. So let me know by sending me an email! What "M.bian" means? My PS3 has succumbed to the famous Yellow Light Of Death. Two reflow attempts fixed it temporarily but a third attempt barely got it booting. This finally means, I should no longer have to dual boot my laptop between linux & Vista.

I can now do the following.

1. Boot Vista from virtualbox & inside of Linux ( I will no longer need to dual boot operating systems). i used a program called disk2vhd for converting the hdd into a virtual hdd.

2. I have USB support & can plug in a my mp3 player into my REAL computer & Virtual Vista can see it. I had to get the virtualbox extensions pack to enable USB2.0

3. I can download DRM protected audiobooks from the public library into Vista & then move those books onto my mp3 player & then listen to them.

4. I can also download DRM protected ebooks in epub & PDF formats and put them on my sony prs-350 ereader
