This is in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah, one of the national monuments which may loose its federally protected status which means mining etc may be allowed in future.

Aerial view of a section of the coral barrier reef in the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia.
Surrounding Bora Bora is a colorful, vibrant reef in such pristine condition that it puts other well-thought of reefs around the world to shame. This reef and its associated sea life are a magnet for snorkelers and scuba divers from across the globe.
Bora Bora has a coral reef of the barrier reef type, meaning it is separate and distinct from the local landmass. If the reef extended from the shoreline, it would be a fringing reef. In the case of Bora Bora, a deep lagoon--sometimes described as the most beautiful lagoon in the world--separates the landmass of the island from the barrier reef. Bora Bora is not an atoll, another common form of coral reef in French Polynesia. Coral heads, or outcroppings of coral, also grow inside the lagoon, but strictly speaking these are not reefs.

Neuschwanstein Castle
King Ludwig II (also known as The Swan King and Mad King Ludwig), a Bavarian monarch, decided to follow in his father's footsteps and commission a castle that would restore glory to the location of a former castle.
He hired Christian Jank, a stage and set designer, to design a castle that would echo the courtly aesthetic of the old Teutonic knights.
The resulting castle, built by Eduard Riedel and Georg Dollmann, became more a fairy tale idea of a castle than a historical recreation, with an isolated, mountainous backdrop, soaring towers and elements that borrowed heavily from the Romanesque style of the 13th Century.
The castle was completed in 1892, making it far more modern than its design appears. Ludwig himself did not live to see the castle completed. Just weeks after his death in 1886, the castle was opened to the public.

The lobster trap was invented in 1808 by Ebenezer Thorndike of Swampscott, Massachusetts.
The entrances to the traps are designed to be one-way only. To entice the lobster, a piece of bait, often fish or chum, is placed inside the trap.
A long rope is attached to the trap, at the end of which is a plastic or styrofoam buoy, so the traps can be identified & pulled up & checked every other day or so. The traps are weighed down by bricks so when they are sent overboard, they will sink & settle on the sea floor.

Salt production has been an indigenous industry of the coastal regions since ancient times.A class of people of Chittagong known as Mulangi used to boil sea water to produce salt since ancient times.Their salt production area was called 'Tofal'.During the Mughal period, two government departments called 'Nimak Jaigir Mahal and Nimak Ayaz Mahal' controlled this industry.
Salt production runs along the coast in Banskhali upazila. Coastal salt farmers come down to the field every year after monsoon. The salt production season begins at the end of the monsoon shrimp season.50,000 salt farmers cultivate in various unions along the coast of Bay of Bengal.
Salt is being cultivated in 15 thousand hectares of coastal areas of Saral, Gandamara, Shekerkhil, Puichhari, Chanua, Kathria, Khankhanabad and Baharchhara Union of Banskhali upazila.Salt is made by drying the water with the heat of the sun.Basically, this salt production season lasts from December every year to June of the following year.
I recently learned that overall, the Painted Lady Butterfly migrates even further than the Monarch Butterfly does.
"Painted ladies are one of the most widely distributed butterflies and can be found on all continents except Antarctica and South America. The painted lady butterfly (Vanessa cardui) migrates across generations between Europe and Africa and is a key species for studying insect migration.
The widespread presence of these butterflies can be attributed to their adaptability and resilience, as they can thrive in various habitats, including meadows, gardens, forests, and even arid deserts.
The species of butterflies is a resident of warmer areas, migrating in the fall towards more favorable climates. While monarch butterflies are probably more well known for their epic migrations between North and Central America, the painted lady butterfly is known for having the longest migration route of all butterfly species.
Each fall, large populations of painted lady butterflies (Vanessa cardui) migrate from Europe to subtropical Africa, crossing the Sahara Desert, with individuals traveling up to 4,000 kilometers. The epic migration of painted lady butterflies crosses the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of North Africa.
This species of butterfly makes the longest single-leg migratory flight of all known butterfly migration routes." www.geographyrealm.com/these-butterflies-have-the-longest...
_______________________
They even made USA Today 2024 news: "Painted lady butterflies, Vanessa cardui, fly at least 2,610 miles, 4,200 kilometers, across the Atlantic, from West Africa to French Guiana in South America, according to a new study published by Nature Communications in June.
The study adds that the butterflies possibly traveled at least 4,345 miles, 7,000 kilometers, from the point of butterfly emergence, meaning the location where the butterflies emerged from their cocoons.
"The overall journey, which was energetically feasible only if assisted by winds, is among the longest documented for individual insects, and potentially the first verified transatlantic crossing," states the study." www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/07/13/attract-pai...

The last photo I posted of an eared grebe (seen in the first comment box) was that of a pair of upside down feet. The poor grebe got caught up in an avocet's wrath as it chased a coot away from its young. While numerous at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, the grebes were dying off in numbers that alarmed the staff. They feared that there was something wrong with the Preserve's water quality or that the grebes had a disease that could affect the other birds. The latest theory blames a serious lack of food at the Salton Sea in California. The grebes arrived at the Preserve already hungry and, coupled with a lack of food for them at the Preserve has caused them to starve and die. This is an article that describes the current problems facing the Salton Sea:
www.usatoday.com/pages/interactives/salton-sea/as-the-sal...
The eared grebe is one of the few birds that is flightless for extended periods of time during the year. For more information, click here:
www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Eared_Grebe/lifehistory
While abundant, similar instances such as the deaths at the Preserve are causing some concern.

Built: Visitors Center (2004-2005)
Architect: William McDonough
Made with Kentucky native wood, this Bernheim Arboretum Visitors Center has elements of a tree house. There is also a garden growing on its roof and vines climbing its beams, which helps insulate the building to keep its inside temperature comfortable. LEED Platinum certified for being green, this building is considered one of Kentucky's 25 most unique architectural structures.
During the 1930s and 1940s, two famous landscapers, the Olmstead Brothers, advised the bourbon distiller and purchaser of this 12,000 acres of land, Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, on how to rehabilitate the cheap stripped land in order to grow back a hardwood forest and make it an arboretum. A park was opened to the public in 1950.
