" If we could see the miracle in a single flower clearly, our whole life would change. " - Buddha

”In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.” – Baba Dioum

"The photo is the hunt. It’s the instinct of hunting without the desire to kill. It’s the hunt of angels… you track, you aim, you fire and-click! Instead of a dead man, you make him eternal." - Chris Marker

“ "Sport" hunting is a sickness, a perversion and a danger and should be recognised as such.

People who get their 'amusement' from hunting and killing defenceless animals can only be suffering from a mental disorder.

In a world with boundless opportunities for amusement, it's detestable that anyone would choose to get thrills from killing others who ask for nothing from life but the chance to remain alive. ” Sir Roger Moore

I understand that sculptures may not be the most exciting subject matter. However, when I had just got my camera I went to the local art museum to do some ”target practice”. I published some of those shots here and when I recently reviewed them, I felt that I’d missed some obvious angles and that I could perhaps do better. So, here I present a couple of new pictures that I hope improve upon my previous attempts. Feedback is always welcome. Thanks.

Tuesday was the warmest day of the year so far in the UK with temperatures up 33C or 91F in some parts. It was also full moon with the moon rising 30 minutes before sunset. The clear skies and timing make ideal conditions for mixing scenery with the moon without too much difference in exposure. A check of the Photographers Ephemeris online also revealed that the moonrise lined up perfectly with the local pier when viewed from the west. This also gave me a perfect chance to try out my new (second hand) 75-300 Minolta zoom lens for some moon shots.. When the tide is in there are always fishermen operating from the end of the pier in the evening.

The picture was taken with a tripod with a Sony A550 with a Minolta 75-300 zoom at 300mm. Processing was limited to adjustments in RAW and Topaz Clarity was also used.

It is the absence of facts that frightens people: the gap you open, into which they pour their fears, fantasies, desires.

I understand that:

- no image can reproduce the real essence in its entirety:

- the task of the image (icon) is not to fully reproduce the real essence;

- the image is used only as a sign (symbol), as a means that facilitates the perception of things, etc.

But, on the other hand, it seems to me that the image should not be contradictory when the result of an event is depicted before the event took place.

For example, on this icon, all the apostles, except for Judas, are depicted with halos of holiness along with Jesus, although the sacrament of the descent of grace has not yet taken place, because the bread is whole. In this sense, the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci "The Last Supper" is mentioned, in which only Jesus is depicted with a halo.

A similar image, when only Jesus has a nimbus, can be seen on the "Last Supper" Icon above the Royal Gate of the iconostasis of the Annunciation Cathedral in Kyiv (see the album of this cathedral in my collection).

Я розумію, що:

- жоден образ не може відтворити реальну сутність в усій її повноті:

- завданням зображення (ікони) не є повне відтворення реальної сутності;

Each beautiful thing, a flower, the song of a bird,

awakens in our soul the memory of our origin.

to make us understand the voice of our soul.

Mmm, baby, I don't understand this

You're changing, I can't stand it

My heart can't take this damage

And the way I feel, can't stand it

Mmm, baby, I don't understand this

You're changing, I can't stand it

My heart can't take this damage

And the way I feel, can't stand it

Mmm, baby, I don't understand it

Girl, you're making it hard for me

Girl, you're making it hard for me

Girl, you're making it hard for me, uh

Girl, you're making it hard for me

Girl, you're making it hard for me

Girl, you're making it hard for me

Mmm, baby, I don't understand this

You're changing, I can't stand it

My heart can't take this damage

And the way I feel, can't stand it

Mmm, baby, I don't understand this

You're changing, I can't stand it

My heart can't take this damage

And the way I feel, can't stand it

Mmm, baby, I don't understand this

You're changing, I can't stand it

My heart can't take this damage

It is hard to understand why so many things were abandoned when people moved away from the town of Bodie, California. In 1880 the population of the town was estimated around 10,000. By the 1910 census, there were 698 residents. By 1920, 120 people lived here and by 1943 only three, one of which was a paid caretaker. The state of California bought the town and designated it a State Historic Park in 1962 and has maintained the structures in a state of arrested decay. All the contents of the buildings have been left as they were when the state acquired the town. Somehow the contents of this store remain. Visitors are not allowed to enter most of the structures in Bodie, so photos are taken through very dirty windows. While this store opened in 1879, it is not known when it closed. It is possible it closed in December, 1937 as there is a calendar turned to that date in what appears to be a storage room next to the store seen here.
