I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best out of it without knowing what's going to happen next. ~~ Gilda Radner

Some injuries never heal.

You can’t see them,

they’re hidden deep inside.

Most of us have old wounds.

Let these injuries keep you soft and kindhearted,

allowing them to make you hard accomplishes little, except more hurt.

Whether you're for or against nuclear power, the people voted the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station closed in 1989. You can peruse information on the links below to find out why.

We lived fairly-close to it in the 70's and I recall the place in the news often enough, while growing up in a city about 65 miles away---closer, as a radioactive steam cloud flies.

Anyway, with the third worst nearly-catastrophic incident in the nation's history occurring there and seeing what can happen after Chernobyl, I am glad the place is now mostly just the two, big cooling towers. Built during the first phase of construction in 1966, they are what one sees for miles around the prairies southeast of Sacramento, California.

The area around the old station is a park now. It's a good one, too. After checking things on google earth, I thought I'd go there with the camera.

Thanks for your time and support!

Aging warehouse buildings await an uncertain future.

With uncertainty in the air as the end of what we all know as the Montana Rail Link soon to be a distant memory, we travel to the Fish Creek trestle to catch the well known staple of the Night Gas train heading west on the 4th Sub.

It may be end of the beginning or beginning of the end.

Leave it to Mother Nature to provide a few moments of beauty with a spectacular sunset, during this time of uncertainty. With the Calgary skyline off in the distance to the right, the sun sets behind the Rocky Mountains on a peaceful March evening. The rails of CP's transcontinental mainline reflect the golden light, as they continue to move the vital goods and supplies for our country; something that has become more critical than ever.

Some might fear uncertainty

But shouldn’t we be grateful for it?

Isn’t that uncertainty that pushes us towards the unknown?

The one that pushes us to explore new paths, new directions ?

The one that really makes us feel

ALIVE?

You can't help but get caught up in the elections of our southern neighbors. It's been on every media outlet that you can think of for months and it's reached a fever pitch now on election night. I sincerely hope that whatever the outcome, people can accept the results, put their differences aside, and move on.

This image was taken last summer after a stormy few days with a clearing trend finally at hand. I thought it was perhaps symbolic for all the recent political uncertainty.

Busy, busy...why has August been so busy? And why has August been so heavy? Like the thick summer air, my RL has weighed on me this month. Not terribly so, not irreparably so, just in the way that a chrysalis struggles to free itself from it's cocoon. The struggle, in preparation for entering the world anew. I feel it. The difficulty is beautiful. Not in the way you'd want to keep forever, but in the process itself.

Change; it's inevitable, this we know. To embrace it is a true act of courage. To embrace uncertainty as you would a loved one isn't something I ever thought possible, however it is. I'm doing this. With struggle, and ugliness, and mistakes. This is living. All of this is OK. And once this is all past, the beauty that remains will outweigh any labor it took to bring forth this renewal into the world. Live, love, believe (in yourself!), dive into life with courage and release all fear. Love will catch you.

As the path of life stretches into the unseen, the Shepherd has left His light to guide the way. Though the journey is often shrouded in uncertainty, His steadfast glow offers comfort, reminding us that we are never truly alone. Each step forward may feel tentative, but His light shines as a promise—an enduring presence to illuminate our way, no matter how shadowed or unclear the road ahead may be. He beckons us to move forward with trust, to find peace in the certainty of His wisdom, and to embrace the journey with faith.
