Hi All, thanks so much for the views, faves, comments, invitations, or even a "Is this thing really on Explore? Meh..." reaction. Never thought that this photo would reach Top 10 (hope it stays there also :p) I will try to return favors to all of you but hope you don't mind if I'm a little slow to respond.
The “ spirit of union “ symbolizes the 2nd of December 1971 which was when the seven Emirates got united under one flag to form United Arab Emirates . The country is celebrating the 42nd anniversary of this eventful day with a variety of events taking place all over the Emirates throughout this weekend
Festivities have begun in Abu Dhabi. Here is a dazzling display of lights piercing through the dark sky.

Major cities in the Gulf tend to get quite dolled-up when it comes to National Day time, and Dubai is no different. This is a water tower in Al Khazzan Park which has been decorated with strings of lights in the colours of the UAE national flag to celebrate the country's 44th national day. From a distance it looks a bit like a bright jelly fish. I liked the way the wind moved the strings of lights around so took this shot by bracing my M9-P against a park bench.
I used a variable ND filter to get the long exposure.

Woohoo...on this coming December 2nd, UAE (United Arab Emirates) is turning 41 years old. I can't believe it's gonna be my 5th (FIVE) national day celebration in this country.
In this photo, it's a rehearsal for FAI World Parachuting Championship's opening ceremony. The photo was taken from 42nd floor apartment of my Russian friend who is really kind to invite me to his place for dinner along with two other guys. The view is pretty awesome :)
