Looking through my PhotoStream, I noticed that I didn't have anything form the D200 posted. So I went back and pulled out some of my favorites. This is the first of those images.

My wife and I spent the afternoon in the butterfly house of AMNH. We had a blast and got some pretty nice images to boot.

A high-powered “solidarity” mission by the United Nations and the African Union to South Sudan has ended with messages of deep concern about the sexual violence being perpetrated against women and children during the ongoing conflict but also a call for hope that inclusive and durable peace can be achieved.

The UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, and the AU Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, Bineta Diop, wrapped up a two-day visit to South Sudan with a press conference in the capital Juba.

They said that peace is “absolutely necessary now” and that it must be consolidated to enable development to be undertaken so that South Sudan and its people could prosper.

The DSG said the worst part of the conflict was the anguish caused by rape suffered by many women and also children at very young ages. The delegation urged the leaders of South Sudan to end the fighting and build an accord that would consolidate peace, giving back the women and children of the country their dignity and humanity.

Over a century ago, a young boy left Wales and journeyed to America, where he started a small press, now known as Llewellyn Worldwide. Llewellyn George's adventurous spirit and Welsh heritage embodies The Llewellyn Tarot, which also celebrates the publisher's enduring legacy.

This lavishly illustrated deck offers universal appeal (based on Rider-Waite) with a Welsh twist. A compelling story unfolds starring Rhiannon as The Empress, Bran the Blessed as The Emperor, The Wild Herdsman as The Horned God (the Devil), Gwydion as The Magician, Llew Llaw Gyffes as the Bringer of Light, and other figures from Welsh mythology.

Two Dot, Montana. Located off of Hwy 12. Needed to stretch the legs and I,m a sucker for road signs. Sign was something to the effect of the Two Dot Bar........ World Famous!

Drove around the town, all three streets or so that it had and decided that a beer with the locals might be a good idea. The two ladies in the bottom photo made up the crowd in the bar. Was told that I had an accent ....... and wanted to know were I was from . Tried passing myself off as being from Idaho.

The gal setting at the bar would have none of that........ " Now listen, I grew up in Idaho and not a soul there talks as slow as you.............. were you from " ! Busted by a barfly, I had to fess up............ Kentucky . " You sure came a long way to get a beer " !

Yes I did !

..................................................................................................................................................................

Twodot was named for "Two Dot" Wilson, a local cattleman who got his nickname because his brand was two dots placed on the shoulders and hips of his cattle and horses, which made it very difficult for a thief to alter the brand.

Two Dot was never one for dressing up, and one time in Chicago, having arrived with a load of cattle, he was arrested for vagrancy because he was so dirty and unkempt. He asked the policeman to accompany him to the bank, and when it was verified that Wilson had just deposited more than $10,000 he was set free. The incident had begun as a practical joke. A couple of cowhands who had accompanied Wilson to Chicago thought it would be fun to play a trick on the boss—they were the ones who pointed him out to police as a vagrant. But Two Dot found out about their conspiracy and went them one better—he took the next train home and left them in Chicago with neither money nor a return ticket. (from Cheney's Names on the Face of Montana, Mountain Press Publishing Company)

Two Dot was built in 1900. The Jawbone Rail Road arrived in the fall of 1899 and the town of Big Elk, a few miles to the south, was moved to the rail head and became Two Dot.

S12 - Day two of 3 days of Protests against World Economic Forum at Melbourne Crown Casino September 11 - 13, 2000. This was widely viewed as a business as usual talkfest and junket for business executives on their way to attending the Sydney Olympics. Climate change was hardly on the public agenda at the time but corporate businesses were ramping up globalisation of planetary destruction.

Whereas the blockade of Crown Casino was peaceful and highly effective on day one, the police were used to violently attack peaceful protestors on the 2nd and 3rd day to allow conference registrants to attend.

There was a Trade Union March organised from Victorian Trades Hall to Crown Casino to bolster the protest blockade.

One last Two Harbors photograph, for now. I have many more from this visit, and will post them at a later date.

This is the usual view of the harbor at Two Harbors, Minnesota. The Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range docks dominate the view.
