Two Butterfly species I captured this summer. The top shots are are of a Bronzed Copper. The bottom is a Western White.
Alternate species identification might be Purplish Copper and Checkered White. I am new at Butterfly identification.

I SO named this after a song off the Tarzan soundtrack.
As usual, it started with a simple desire to draw these two, but I wound up experimenting with shading for future stand-alone pictures - maybe comic pages in the future, as it evolved from a technique I kinda use on some O31 page backgrounds. I'm happy with it, for what it is.
This is relatively soon after the two met compared to the other pictures I've done...as such they are dirt poor hobos who travel via sneaking onto boxcars. Sebastian has yet to get jaded by his situation as a whole, and Bjorn has yet...to get any pants.

I used Shapecollage to create the two women. The tiles came from my favorite Flickr artists set. Post processing was done using Gimp where I added a background and a reflection.
November 1, 2025--One of two images--I checked the Ginkgos in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, New York, USA. The leaves are bright yellow, but most have not yet fallen. So pretty!

Running over two hours late with Class 66 66102 leading 66xx0 (failed?) is a Ripple Lane to Tinsley freight. I had once again come here to try and see the DC Railfreight Class 60 on the Tunstead-Brandon freight and was just seconds too late, 60029 leaving the goods loop as I arrived.

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Two is Better.
WIT: Scouting out a local gelato hangout that serves an abundance of 218 flavours, La Casa Gelato, I found this lovely customer who was gracious enough to allow me the opportunity to snap several shots while she enjoyed her double-scoop gelato cone with her friends. This is what I'd call the 'money shot'. Thanks! :-)

The lighting concept it the same, with few changes based on the tips from www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157675553881714/ to try and achieve a gradient white-to-black background.
Main light: YN468II in a small softbox (25x25cm)
Background light: Vivitar auto thyristor, behind the tracing paper background. There is a semi transparent flag and some bent sheets of paper to make the gradient.
Additional notes: Reflector at camera right, just out of the frame, to fill the shadow side of the white king.

Almost no postprocessing. Basic straighten/crop, dust removal, contrast, clarity and curves/levels only. All done in Nikon's Capture NX-D, my new RAW processing tool.
That is the way of nature. The stalks in the image are crossed, symbolizing the bond of the individuals. Their heads are close but separate, and each brings his/her strengths to the relationship.
Whatever statement the lovely, wooden flowers are making, the surrounding negative space supports them. BTW, the flowers are from a trip to Prague.

Hi everybody,
This shot is taken in Höllviken. I went down there at around lunch time today.
For this image I decided I wanted to do something unusual. I saw the gap between the two piers and the sun almost being in the middle. I took a few shots. I think the composition and the high-key effect work great together.
