As the Snowy Egret was taking leave of Horsepen Bayou after a productive feeding session, it made a brief detour to take advantage of one last eruption of menhaden before heading out of sight.

There are a range of short to medium walks with caves, amazing forests and natures beauty all around.
Ilkley
This rather large tree stands on top of what was the Roman Fort of Olicana in Ilkley, it was abandoned in the 4th-5th century, apart from one wall most of the settlement remains under the ground. The shadow is cast by the Manor House which is a museum, arts and heritage centre and now stands on the same site as the fort. Down the slope in the bottom of the valley is the River Wharfe, you can just make out a small section of it through the trees. Ilkley is a Spa town and the town centre and Parish Church are behind me just off to the right.

Beyond the wind shaped drift it was clear skies and a solid blanket of fog to the north on this day at Roan.
Found this interesting specimen in Ashdown Forest. It looks like it's been shaped by a life facing strong winds, but is totally sheltered area of the forest
