These abandoned industrial buildings are quite literally in their twilight. Since I took these shots both are now being dismantled for a new industrial development.

In my sky at twilight you are like a cloud

and your form and colour are the way I love them.

You are mine, mine, woman with sweet lips

and in your life my infinite dreams live.

--Pablo Neruda

Scouting this location the day before in rather poor weather we spent the day wandering through the rain-forest and about two hours before sunset headed to this spot on the coast I had seen in a few postcards. I felt like the post cards did a really poor job of representing the possibilities this beach had, so I took it upon myself to see if I could produce something better, and not in direct sunlight during the day.

After shooting a fantastic sunset (more pictures to come), I decided to move over to this iconic spot on the beach about 20 minutes away. Naturally I thought as the sun had set that most of my light would be gone, and maybe I'd get something interesting with Astro, or during twilight. As I approached the icon I noticed that one of the streams had pooled before it, and was perfectly still. I saw an opportunity as the light was fading to reflect the stone, and although you cannot see the beach or waves, I think it turned out fantastic. It's really just another example of getting phenomenal light when I've thought the best has passed.

The dusk and twilight hours are undoubtedly my favorite time of day to take photographs. When I was starting out I couldn't help but be captivated by sunsets and want to capture they beautiful colors with my camera.

Ein Blick vom Koeppchen auf das schöne Wormeldange an der Mosel in Luxembourg / A view from the view point Koeppchen at the Mosel river and the beautiful village of Wormeldange in Luxembourg

This is a photo of the intense colours of sunset photographed through some trees while intentionally moving the camera. I love how the diffuse darker toned shapes suggest a pareidolia narrative - a scene of a heroic military commander such as Alexander the Great rallying his army during battle. The composition of the image is divided in half by a balanced light/dark polarity or dualism.
