It took a public campaign to convince the authorities that the introduction of a speed limit on High Street was a necessity. Most drivers respect the new regulation, some don't. There is no police station in our village. "Common sense" is probably the method preferred to deal with problems here. It works most of the time. Leica M Mono, Voigtlander AS 2.2/50.
I found many beautifully coloured walls and shutters in Florence and I fell in love with this colour combination when I saw it.
I have posted photos of this car before as I have seen it at classic car shows quite often and it's a personal favourite. The One-Twenty was a car produced by the Packard Motor Car Company in Detroit, Michigan, and the one in this photo was built in 1941. According to a sign behind the front window, the car is for sale now.
With the rear end clearing the Whittier branch switch, 3006 and 3003 start to notch up as they cross Twenty Mile River in Portage. This train was ran to pick up excess containers from the last barge and to also shuttle equipment into and out of the bush for the tourist operations that run over the summer and are shutting up for the up coming winter.
The history of firework displays from Edinburgh Castle is thought to date back to the early 1500's. Firework displays were commissioned by the monarchs for special occasions. Coincidentally, we were there for the closing day of the Fringe Festival and the Fireworks Celebration. Both the Fringe festival and this annual fireworks celebration are considered to be the largest in the world. The show was spectacular - lasting for an hour, accompanied by gorgeous classical music. This shot was taken from Calton Hill, on a cold and windy night, with plenty of little biting 'midges', making sitting still a little more challenging :)

Twenty mile river image taken during low tide. As ugly as the mud is , I think the patterns that are left in the mud by the receding tide are beautiful.
Twenty four hours of rain is enough to drive any sober man crazy, but that didn't stop me from trying to stay sane. It was the kind of night where I lIke my coffee in a shot glass, and my whiskey in a coffee cup. There's no glory in this, but I'm not a man looking for accolades. Accolades are for dead men at their funerals. As long as the whiskey bites I know I'm on the green side of the grass. It's not enough to keep me dry, but it's enough to keep me wet in all the right places.
