Hanna Tuulikki is a Finnish-English vocalist, musician and artist, born in Sussex, who is involved in the Nalle (Finnish for "teddy bear") and Scatter musical projects, and has also contributed to the One Ensemble of Daniel Padden. Her vocals have been compared to those of Joanna Newsom and Björk on occasion.

Can you see Jack Skellington in the vortex?
I went to Moominvalley museum store today, it is situated downstairs the city library. I had to visit the library itself too. This is the vision in stairway from Moominvalley to the library. City library building was designed by architects Raili and Reima Pietilä. Reima Pietilä's sister Tuulikki Pietilä was Tove Jansson's life partner (and she was inspiration to Too-Ticky), and her work can be seen in Moominvalley dioramas.
A few years ago I did a virtual swap meet with Tom Abrahamsson. A batch of Tessina and Nikon cassettes went to Vancouver and I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful camera.
This is one camera that will never be prised from my hands.
I can't express my condolences to Tuulikki in words for her loss.
Sculpture outside the Moomin Museum made in 2004 by Tuulikki Pietilä, American-born Finnish graphic artist and professor. Pietilä is believed to be the inspiration for the character Too-Ticky in the Moomin books.

Pietilä was romantic partner to Tove Jansson, Finnish author, novelist, painter and illustrator, who wrote and designed the Moomin books and comic strips.

My current Tom Abrahamsson Canadian Special M2.
This is the manifestation of the overwhelming support I have received from Tom and Tuulikki over the past 10 years and everything I produce with it is done in deep appreciation of said support.
I bought the camera, a 1965 Leica M2 made by Ernst Leitz Canada (!), from Tom when I stayed with Tuulikki and Tom in autumn of 2016. It was the last time we spent together before Tom died in early 2017. (I shared the story in more detail in another post a while ago.)
It was outfitted with the current model MP/M-A finder last year and has all the fancy framelines.
The lens, an Elmarit 28mm f2.8 vIII, also made in Canada, is Tuulikki's extremely generous wedding present. Tom had originally bought it for a long trip through Europe in 1981 and we intend to take it on many more trips.
The M2-model Rapidwinder was a gift from Tom back in 2011, when I first stayed at the Abrahamsson's in Vancouver. It is of course made by Tom himself, and thus made in Canada
The soft release button is Abrahamsson-made as well, I prefer the "Mini" version over the larger ones.
(The strap is from Hyperion Camera Straps in Greece and I can recommend it.)

i am not sure it feels right to rush to flickr so soon after receiving the news. but i believe that tom probably, maybe would have wanted us to, as being active in this community was rather dear to him.
so here it is. the last shot, the last negative, taken with the m2 and the film you gave me on that same day, the last time i will ever have seen you, my one and only, irreplaceable honorary grandfather. I'm the one who is honoured.
thank you for everything.
it's season for gloves once again.

pretty much every accessory on this camera is made or co-designed by Tom Abrahamsson. he also fixed my skopar, and the body was cleaned and adjusted by a friend of his.
thank you so much Tom, and Tuulikki too, of course.
So, one day my youngest daughter Julia (9) asked me:
'Daddy, you've made a faun BJD of my big sister Larissa, nephew Jeremy and nieces Selena & Kimberly. Why haven't you made a faun doll of me..?'

Terry was over and helped Tuulikki with some digital thing on her Lumix and gave her a "proper" 35mm for it. He did bring his Leica Q with the Summilux 28 on it. Interesting camera and the lens ie evidently dynamite! However, I was surprised how big it is! It did fit well in the hand, but a rather large package compared to the M2 and Zeiss 35 C Biogon f2.8.
The Groke (Swedish: Mårran) is a melancholic and lonely character, wherever she stands, the ground below her freezes, plants and grass die. Everyone around is afraid of her, but Moomintroll dares to speak to her.
A minature tableaux from the book Moominland Midwinter (Swedish title: Trollvinter). The book is the sixth in the series of Tove Jansson's Moomins books, a novel with illustrations, published in 1957.
While the rest of the Moomin family are in the deep slumber of their winter hibernation, Moomintroll finds himself awake and unable to get back to sleep. He discovers a world hitherto unknown to him, where the sun does not rise and the ground is covered with cold, white, wet powder. Moomintroll is lonely at first but soon meets Too-ticky, a wise spirit who sings mysterious songs.
It is believed that the new character, Too-Ticky, is a representation of Jansson's life-long partner, Tuulikki Pietilä (nickname, Tutti) who was often an inspiration for her.

The books were written and illustrated by Tove Jansson (1914-2001), a Swedish-speaking Finnish author, novelist, painter, illustrator and comic strip author.

This minature tableaux is one of around 40 which are shown at the Moomin Museum. They were made by Tove Jansson and her partner Tuulikki Pietilä, American-born Finnish graphic artist and professor.
We got some truly tragic news this morning, Shintaro's brother Kenjiro passed away from a brain anyrism early this morning.
Kenjiro was a good friend and one of the funniest persons we knew. He was kind, considerate and loved by all. He was only 42 years old and had just opened his own business April 20th- he was a trained massage therapist.
When I got sick in 2001, he threw himself on a plane to come to Vancouver to help out.
He had what we called Kenjiro Speak. He would start with English, switch to Japanese and the mix it up thoroughly - but the key was communication - and that worked.
His Grandmother said Kenjiro did not really need any language
at all as his face said it all.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shintaro, Keiji and Mitchiko san for their loss and to all Kenjiro's friends here in Canada and Japan. Trips to Tokyo will not be the same for us without him.

I've had my girl for over 6 1/2 years. So she must be 7 1/2 to 8 years old now. It doesn't seem that long but it also feels like she's been part of my life forever. As time goes by, I adore her more and more - if that's possible.
There's so much to her personality that surpasses all other cats I've had except for one. Taco, now gone 25 years, and Tuulikki are unique. To explain how special and unique Tuulikki is would take up the whole page. She never fails to love and entertain my son and me. She makes us laugh everyday. And she's never been upset, standoffish or have changing moods as some people describe their cats. No matter what, she's always ready for hugs and cuddles.
I think any memory she had of her early feral life is gone. We moved from our previous place with the wild backyard. Tame and boring now but it was necessary to. For the first year, I used to wish she'd sit on my lap. Now I call her my "lap leech" but I don't mind at all.
It's amazing how much she understands. Like most formally feral/stray cats, they think they're always hungry. It was how they survived. But a fat cat isn't healthy and their life is shorter. I want her as long as possible. She's fed 5 small meals a day with 2 of them being canned food mixed with a little water. When she thinks it's time (but it's not) and she comes begging, I say "No feed kitty" and you can almost see her shoulders slump and she walks away. That's just one example of her understanding. I think it helps when you see the person (as in personality) in an animal and you talk to them that way.
What can I say? I love her so much. She's helped and continues to help me through some times that have been very stressful for me. Best companion ever!

Since yesterday our world is a far less interesting place. It is missing a great, generous, curious, joyful and wonderfully eccentric human being - Tom Abrahamsson, the man who always had a camera around his neck paired with a big smile on his face. Knowing him and talking to him about almost anything was both fun and a great privilege. I will miss him a lot.
RIP Tom and have great light and unlimited supply of BW film wherever you are now.
