I walked into Tuttle Cameras to ask a leading question about replacing a missing fastener. I did not anticipate a simple answer, so much as a dialog. It was easy to imagine outcomes like sending the camera out for repair with, say, a $50 charge for evaluating the situation; or perhaps someone would come out of the back with a three-ring binder full of exploded diagrams, or consult an online database, and tell me they could order the genuine Nikon part for $40.
What happened was that three or four employees grinned at each other, and one reached under the counter and pulled out a box containing about a bazillion near-microscopic parts.
"You're ready for a tour of the Box o' Wonder." (Maybe that wasn't exactly what he called it, but it was something in that vein.) "Feel free to search for the part you need...keeping in mind that we close in half an hour."
"I'll be back."
