Explore #4......5/26/09..... Thank you, Friends!
Lo and behold... I had a visitor in my garden yesterday. A box turtle that had been eating blossoms from a clump of red impatiens. Naughty turtle! I took a quick shot of him and sent him on his way.
* Three North Carolina turtles --a diamondback terrapin, box turtle and loggerhead -- were the first North American turtles to be documented visually. Naturalist John White recorded the animals in a series of watercolors he painted from 1585 to 1587. The box turtle, White wrote, was "A land Tort which the Savages [American Indians] esteeme above all other Torts."

"New Photos for #TurtleTuesday!
The photos we’ve been sharing on Twitter and Facebook have been so popular, we decided to dedicate a whole gallery to Donatello! (Well, ALMOST entirely – there’s ONE cameo by a certain fellow Turtle…) Check out our first 1/4 scale figure from the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in action, plus packaging shots, and get ready for him to start shipping sometime next week! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990 Movie) – 1/4 Scale Action Figure – Donatello
"Cowabunga, dude! NECA is proud to announce its first ever 1/4 scale action figures based on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Donatello is the Turtles’ resident techno-genius, but make no mistake — he’s world-class with the bo staff. This highly detailed action figure stands 16.5” tall and features 30 points of articulation, including double elbows, to fully showcase Donatello’s mastery of the martial arts. It’s entirely accurate to the movie, and comes with bo staff, pizza slice and ooze canister accessories and 7 interchangeable hands"

Caught these painter's turtles soaking up the sun on a quiet log in Surveyors Lake today.
Paddle boarding past this moment felt
like nature's perfect pause. Always grateful for BC's wild beauty and these unexpected wildlife encounters. #TurtleTuesday came early this week!

Amateur lens, but pro-level appreciation for moments like this.
