Eid ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to break the fast" (and can also mean "nature", from the word "fitrah") and so symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period
I was thinking about what to do for the 'jelly' theme when I remembered the box of Turkish Delight still in the cupboard from Christmas. Now I just have to resist eating too much at one time - the sugar overload would give me a headache.

There used to be an advert for Fry's Turkish Delight when we were children. It suggested that the sweets were different and exotic with the final tagline in the advert stating they were "full of eastern -promise". As a child my husband always thought they were saying full of yeast and promise - eeeuuuw!
Phill still loves turkish delight so I treated him to a box for Valentine's Day

So another shot from the White Rabbit portion of my Wonderland series. This was done in Englewood park with the always beautiful Callie Ramsay. That's Turkish Delight in the box by the way. It was delicious. Oh and the Bottle should look quite familiar as well, I think someone was holding it in a sunflower field in another shot of mine :]]
I love that forest so much.
I'm thinking I'll upload one more from the White Rabbit series soon.

What a delight (no pun intended) to go into a Turkish delight (lokum) shop in Istanbul and choose a selection to take away for sampling. It is basically an Arab or Persian gel-like combination of starch and sugar with added dates and nuts, flavoured with rose water, orange, lemon and other spices, covered with icing sugar or coconut. Its origin is controversial, including claims from Turkey, Greece and Iran.
