St. Mary's Church is the third brick temple in the world in terms of volume. Built in the years 1346-1506, the church is an example of brick Gothic, popular in the countries of the Baltic Sea basin. A dozen or so years after the completion of construction works, in 1529 the Reformation arrived in Gdańsk and the first Protestant service was held in the Gdańsk parish church, but until 1572 the main altar was used by Catholics.

The historic parish church of the Main Town in Gdańsk in the years 1572-1945 served as a Catholic and Evangelical church. Catholics took over the church only after 1945.

Despite its turbulent history, the temple has retained its historical architectural form, as evidenced by the iconography dating back to the 16th century, and the rich interior design made up of numerous medieval works.

Historyczna fara Głównego Miasta w Gdańsku w latach 1572-1945 pełniła funkcję kościoła katolickiego i ewangelickiego. Katolicy przejęli kościół dopiero po 1945 roku.

Pomimo burzliwych dziejów, świątynia zachowała historyczną formę architektoniczną co poświadcza ikonografia sięgająca XVI wieku oraz bogaty wystrój wnętrza, który tworzą liczne dzieła średniowieczne.

UNESCO World Heritage

The Heritage Site stands for the splendid natural beauty of the Alps. At its heart lies the impressive Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau rock massif and the glacial landscape surrounding the Great Aletsch Glacier.

By the way, this is NOT a pano-sabotage artwork (although it looks like one); I used some of the Mapping tools in the Ultra Fractal program to get this effect! :-)

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Turbulent skies above the site of a medieval settlement high on a moor in the Exmoor National Park, England.

It is sometimes dramatic what happens in the sky.

Es ist manchmal dramatisch, was sich am Himmel so abspielt.

Turbulent seas along the Aberdeenshire coast at the Bullers of Buchan.

A windy storm dissipated into liquid mercury on our bird-protection netting on all of the windows. I've been walking in the rain to ease my mind.

"Nature’s particular gift to the walker, through the semi-mechanical act of walking... is to set the mind jogging, to make it garrulous, exalted, a little mad maybe — certainly creative and suprasensitive, until at last it really seems to be outside of you and as if it were talking to you whilst you are talking back to it."

(Kenneth Grahame, 1859-1932, from A Biography, by Peter Green)

And when that release seems to fade, I add earbuds and New Orleans jazz with a backbeat to dance and walk through these turbulent times.

What helps you?

Verdorie het gaat helemaal niet goed met Mazal... ze zakt steeds door haar achterhand. Dierenarts is net geweest, ze gaat aan de pijnstillers... hopen dat ze weer wat spiermassa op kan bouwen.

Cloudscape from 37,000 feet

On my way to the Canary Islands I saw some cumunolimbus clouds from the plane. I think the combination of a ND filter and the window of the plane gave the Gulf of Biscay the colors of a Rainbow.

Cumunolimbus stands for heaped rainstorm.

As the tanker began it's journey, the sea started to get rough, so the Tug boat was sent to retrieve it.

A pair of Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) coming in for a landing on a windy day (note the blurred bits of flying vegetation). Mallards are one of the most common ducks found throughout the world, native to most of the northern hemisphere and introduced in many areas of the southern hemisphere. Despite their "commonness" I find them beautiful, particularly when the lighting shows off the iridescence of their feathers.

Church On The Grand River..

A 2019 trip to Cambridge and Paris Ontario turned out to be the perfect day for taking photos.

The sky was turbulent and moody, changing every few minutes from bright to dark from overcast to bright sunshine it was a real challenger for the light meter and my photography skills to keep it all in check.

Central Presbyterian Church is situated directly on the Grand River. and is very picturesque and in my personal opinion this shot captured it very well.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

A rare rain free recent sunset in our area of the midwest. The local weatherman reported we had only 7 days in May,and only 1 time were they consecutive. Here on our farm, our total is close to 15" since April 27th. More is on its way tonight, and they are predicting a possible washout for the upcoming weekend. The saga continues in what has become a slow moving nightmare for a good part of the midwest this year....
