"And she tucked herself
away in a corner,
quiet and foreign
to the crowd around her...
and all that kept racing through my head
is that the best kind of beauty
is the kind that is mostly ignored "

Hello there,
Wouldn't you know, the morning started as calm as could be. It was a forty minute drive to the sunflower field and by the time I got there, strong gusts of wind had begun (and never ended). I thought the ladybug had the right idea to use the leaves as a windbreak.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a wonderful day and weekend!

A black skimmer tucks in its young to keep them safe and warm. My husband and I visited the nesting colony so get ready for some skimmer chick cuteness :-).
An evening shot of our resident Robin mom, settled in for the night on her nest. In the past we have not had success with fledging Robins from nests in our yard, but this gal seems to have picked a pretty good spot for her family and we are rooting for her to add a few chicks to the local population. This tiny shell was about 1/2 inch wide - and very difficult to focus on with a breeze this evening!
Smile on Saturday theme Mushrooms
A little mushroom hiding away in the undergrowth of the woods caught in one of our rare moments of sunlight.
A nice break this week looking for mushrooms to photograph; a welcome break from the myriad of domestic diasters which seem to follow each other at the same time.
Happy Smile on Saturday! 😄
During our visit to the Palace of Fine arts in San Francisco, CA we spotted this beautiful Juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron tucked in the bushes. It was a usual overcast, rainy day in the City by the Bay. The Heron was in a dark spot so we used a TTL (Through The Lens) on camera flash to help with the light (our first time using this technique for wildlife).
@Lost Lagoon.
With every visit to Lost Lagoon I find something I haven't seen before. Truly a very beautiful sim with all kinds of little surprises around every corner.

I've taken many images of short-eared owls, but never tucked into the pine/spruce trees. What a Gr8 Day!
