Getting here:
About 45 minutes from Nusa Dua, or 1 hr 15 minutes from Kuta or Tuban area. From Nusa Dua, the hilly road will pass through Pecatu, (in)famous for its uncompleted monument and luxury homes. If you are from Kuta, similar hill climbing road through Kedodongan and Jimbaran Hills (and Bay) will bring you here.
Description:
Officially known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu (yes, that's the real name: "Luhur" means "something of divine origin" while "Uluwatu" can be broken into "ulu" which means "land's end" and "watu" means "rock" in the old language). Nonetheless, merely mentioning Uluwatu will get you here in no time.
This is the most spectacular temple on the island of Bali. The inner sanctum of the pura is perched majestically on the edge of a steep cliff that towers above the legendary surf breaks of southern Bali.
Pura Luhur Uluwatu is regarded as one of the six most important temples in Bali (along with Pura Besakih, of course!). Its location on the south westernmost precinct of this magical island guards the Balinese from the evil spirit of the ocean.
There is a minimal entrance fee to enter. Sarongs are available for rental at the entrance. It was indeed a hassle free experience for me. And the view is out of this world.

The statue of Baruna, Balinese God of the Sea with two others, one being Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. As the beach faces West, it's perhaps nicest to see the statue at sunset but I could only make it at night after dinner.
Sorry, I'm away from Flickr for a while and unable to reply to your comments as often and unable to check your photostream. Thank you for your kind patience.
The Bukit (as it is commonly referred to) includes the famous cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu, a number of Bali's very best beaches including Balangan, and the top surfing spots on the island. As is so often the case, it was intrepid surfers who really opened up the eyes of the world to this part of the island.

This is Galba. The last Tuvan Shaman in Mongolia, at her sacred waterfall in the remote border area in western Mongolia's Altai Mountains.
We were the first foreigners to enter this valley, and live alongside Galba for a week. Very sadly just a few day after this photograph Galba very unexpectedly passed away.

Denpasar has various attractions. The white sandy beaches are famous all over the island. Some of the famous surfing beaches are Kuta Beach, Legian Beach and Canggu Beach. Sanur beach has calmer waters and is excellent for sunbathing.
Ten minutes from the Ngurah Rai International Airport lies the town of Kuta. Kuta is where most of the hotels, restaurants, malls, cafes, marketplaces, and spas that cater to tourists are located. In the Denpasar area, all kinds of beautiful Balinese handicrafts are represented in local shops. These include artwork, pottery, textiles, and silver. Bali is a haven for shoppers everywhere.
The famous batik cloth is sold all over Denpasar. These bright sheets of cloth are as beautiful as they are cheap. Made of pure cotton with glorious patterns, Balinese batik is definitely a good buy. Sometimes batik cloth is made into wearable clothing such as a sarong or men's shirts. The jewelry district is in a town called Celuk which is 30 minutes away from Kuta. Here you will find rows and rows of silversmiths' and goldsmiths' shops selling jewellery at very low prices.
It has a population of 491,500 people and covers 47.9 sq miles. Its time zone is UTC+8.
