I passed this barn a number of times and wanted to capture it but I needed to do it when the light was right. Finally early one morning I was able to capture this image with golden light coming through the trees. I was drawn to this barn because it is so neat, clean and picturesque. Truthfully, though I like to shoot any type of barn. :) Located in Walland Tennessee. [Edited in Photoshop and Topaz}

Lyrics by Billy Joel

If you search for tenderness

It isn't hard to find

You can have the love you need to live

But if you look for truthfulness

You might just as well be blind

It always seems to be so hard to give

Honesty is such a lonely word

Everyone is so untrue

Honesty is hardly ever heard

And mostly what I need from you

I can always find someone

To say they sympathize

If I wear my heart out on my sleeve

But I don't want some pretty face

To tell me pretty lies

All I want is someone to believe

Honesty is such a lonely word

Everyone is so untrue

Honesty is hardly ever heard

And mostly what I need from you

I can find a lover

I can find a friend

I can have security until the bitter end

Anyone can comfort me

With promises again

I know, I know

When I'm deep inside of me

Don't be too concerned

I won't ask for nothin' while I'm gone

But when I want sincerity

Tell me where else can I turn

'Cause you're the one I depend upon

Honesty is such a lonely word

Everyone is so untrue

Honesty is hardly ever heard

And mostly what I need from you

Never fear, things with Mihailsk are just wonderful. I'm just taking out some mental trash. The person I'm referring to knows EXACTLY who they are. My hope is that I never need this reminder to myself again.

We're halfway through April and Spring does not seem to want to make an appearance and on this past Sunday, was over 80 degrees--the only "warm" day we've had in months. We have since had below normal temps, rain and can see now the grass is just starting to "green up" but it's still raining. Truthfully, I am quite sick of cold, snow, the lackluster environment and this is the best I can do to show any color here this week it continues to be drab and boring. And, needless to say, I "tweaked" it a bit only cause I want some color and I want it now! (Cry, sniff!!)

Thank you for all your kind comments, visits, invitations and faves and please do not post your photos in the comment box. Happy Spring to those of you that have it!

Taken two hours and ten minutes before the previous shot. Further back in my photo stream there are some LE shots taken on the same afternoon once the tide was in and on the turn. There is only one thing you do when faced with an ocean like this and that is stick your camera on a tripod and use a remote release and hang on tight to the tripod then just stand and stare. Even now I remember it vividly because not being primarily a landscape photographer and only getting shots when away on holiday I can truthfully say that I personally have never witnessed anything like this before or since........

Truly unforgettable, even if for many it is not particularly remarkable...

Thank you so much everyone for all your thoughtful, wonderful and kind comments. I cannot convey really how much your support means to me - but please believe it is possibly and most probably more than you will ever know…Sue x

Will you make my dream come true?

There's no place like home they say

You're my home, so hear me pray.

Promise me you'll be mine

I view my life through your eyes

On the go in my tourist's shoes

But I'll stay truthful to you

Cause there's no place like home they say

The Bandit and The Champion

Il Bandito e il Campione - Francesco De Gregori

This image made me think of this story told in De Gregori's song. The text of the piece is inspired by a true story,

youthful friendship among the great champion,

Costante Girardengo, and the dangerous bandit,

Sante Pollastri, both from Novi Ligure, Piedmont, Italy.

Costante Girardengo, cyclist, was the first Champion of Italy, winning twice the Giro d'Italia, six times the Milan-Sanremo in 1918, 1921, 1923, 1925, 1926 and 1928, three times the Tour of Lombardy and three times the Tour of Piedmont.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costante_Girardengo

Sante Pollastri has become an "anarchist bandit" and seems to have been unleashed against the forces of the Police for serious injustices and abuses against family and friends. But history and fascism, have hidden the true motivations, so, there is no absolute truthfulness, if not that of the legend handed down ....

The two childhood friends shared the bicycle until life separated them.

The bandit's career ended in Paris.

That day it had to be disputed

a cycling criteria with the participation of his friend

champion and he could not resist the temptation to

assist you as a spectator, but the police received

a tip and waited at the pass for to catch him.

To be truthful, I don't even recognise myself

I could pretend to be very artistic and say I did all sorts of things to produce this photo which I do like, but that would be a total lie. The photo is exactly as I took it. It was just before dawn on Portraine Beach, Co. Dublin.I had a Hoya ND variable filter on and it was probably too dark to use it but Im amazed at the photo and I love it to be truthful.

If you asked me to reproduce this, I couldnt really and now thats special to me!

Of course Ill leave it to all of you to decide if you like it and really for me, thats the most special thing of all.

I do hope your Monday is full of colour and not blue in the least!

One of the scariest things we have to face is often being honest with ourselves. We so often find ourselves standing at the shores of our personal truth, afraid to look at our reflection and afraid to dive in. We know the water is cold and swimming through it will be long and difficult. But what really frightens us most is the fear of not knowing what will be on that other side waiting for us. It's called Freedom. Be truthful with yourself, be truthful with those around you. We live in a metaverse where you have absolutely the most freedom to be yourself and find acceptance. Take advantage of it.

There is so much to feel gratitude for

So falling in love, over and over again

Is definitely something I do

It can be a small token

A gesture

A word or two

Sharing

Caring

Friendship

I feel this immensely love

And it really can touch so deep

It may actually ache

Deep within

Opening up for love is the greatest there is

I'm so thankful

First I did the cleansing, made the foundation

Realized I needed to be aware of that I respected and loved myself

Then

It happened

Someone precious gave me this gift

Out of nowhere

The greatest gift of them all

Love

And

Letting me bathe in love

That is a gift that truthfully is for us all to have, we need to open up tho

I definitely believe in a better world

Because I believe Love always wins

It's the only way

Even Color does not exist, but is created in our brains. In order to see color we need light, an object and our eyes. Color arises in the presence of light. Whenever light falls on an object, some of the rays are reflected by the object and the remainder is absorbed. The part that is reflected, determines the color.

Our eyes cannot perceive the light that is absorbed by an object. An apple, for example, absorbs all colors, except green. Because the green is reflected and is captured by our eyes, we see the green color of the apple.

The most ideal light for seeing color is diffuse daylight, when the sun is more or less behind the clouds and it is slightly rainy. This produces the most truthful colors.

Captured here is the walkway that separates the old part of Tursi called the La Rabatana from the newer lower part and what needed to be surmounted before I could have the best wood fired pizza in the city. I truthfully thought about secondary plans after I spent some time taking pictures in the area staring up the steep incline but after I snapped this a 90 year old Nonna stepped on to the stairs and began her climb slow steady up to the top with her pull behind cart trailing her.

La Rabatana is a impressive jumble of houses built with stones and bricks with an Arabic influence an inheritance of the Saracens who settled there in 850 BC and the first populated area of what is now known as Tursi. Surrounding the Rabatana are deep ravines cut from clay making its defensive position a hard one to crack but the Byzantines did so in 890 AD ending the Saracen presence in the area but not their influences on local language, food and culture.

Tursi is the city of Albino Pierro, the most famous son of Tursi a poet repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize for literature for his poems written in native Lucanian dialect and subject of a literary park set in his homestead. "That of Tursi, my town in the province of Matera, / was one of the many talks destined to disappear. / I had to look for the way to fix the sounds of my people on paper".

I took this on Oct 3rd, 2018 with my D750 and Nikon 16-35mm f4.0 Lens at 35mm 1.6s f`16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

Yesterday a Cooper's Hawk showed in my backyard at least twice and stuck around for half hour or more. I know he/she has been around off and on for several weeks because the birds around my feeders often disappear. This is the first time recently that I have seen a Cooper's perched in my backyard, Yakima County, Washington. Hopefully I have correctly identified this bird which is very similar to a Sharp-shinned Hawk. I updated to hopefully correct id or more truthfully say I don/t know.

Ships to Shore 2017 - Steveston

One of the world’s largest tall ships, the Kaiwo Maru visited Garry Point Park, Steveston this past weekend.

Built in 1989, this majestic tall ship sailing from Japan is 361 feet in length and has over 29,000 square feet in sails.

Also known as the 'King of the Sea'.

Kaiwo Maru is a Japanese four-masted training barque tall ship.

She was built in 1989 to replace a 1930 ship of the same name.

The Ships to Shore celebration attracted thousands upon thousands of people, anxious to catch what possibly could be a once in a lifetime glimpse of this magnificent sailing ship.

In the background there were nautical displays, carnival activities, food concessions, fireworks and much more...

As night fell, a live band drew and captivated a large audience of people.....truthfully, none of that seemed to distract myself nor many other dedicated photographers..

I know I couldn't 'steer clear' (so to speak) from this extraordinary ship's side, nor could I afford wasting one precious moment of what night fall was offering.

The dimming sky provided ongoing colour and light photog opportunities that enhanced the magic of this fine lady and her scenic surroundings.

A sight to 'sea'

The real things haven't changed.

It is still best to be honest and truthful,

to make the most of what we have,

to be happy with simple pleasures,

and have courage when things go wrong.

- Laura Ingalls Wilder

I've always liked photographing this spot but during colder months with the sun so low on the horizon, it's difficult to catch the light just right. On this occasion, I tried for a blended exposure to see how that worked out. Truthfully, the weather was so nice and the scenery so pretty after a fresh snowfall, that it was more about the day rather than the photograph. As an addendum, I posted this photo on Instagram as well and changing to a square format was a bit like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. However, I have to admit it does force you to look at composition and can produce interesting results. If you’re so inclined, you can see it here: www.instagram.com/p/CI9o5illXVg/?igshid=1s7asei23polu

Look, I know I ain't been myself lately

I've been feelin' like someone else lately

It's prolly this empty Colt 45 that's numbing the pain inside

Cause truthfully I ain't felt lately

I'm still a sinner, I'm losing myself, I need a sign

I needed space, I needed love, I needed time

And I never understood how you could treat me so heartless

Until I realized that you just needed mine

That's what I mean by "loving you never helps"

Cause I just can't decide between loving you or myself

I just pushed away cause I drew a line and you crossed it

Crossing out my exes and ex-ing out all of my loses, I know

What is like to lose somebody you love

And I know what is like to lose yourself to the drugs

And I know what is like to have to let go of someone

Cause they hurt you so bad that you're not the person you was

They will never feel what I feel

In a world so fake I just need someone that's real

I've been dying to live, the devil shooting to kill

I just can't help but wonder if you think of me still
